Its a clip from the ad that ran in the Super Bowl. I thought it should have won for the "BEST" commercial. You can see the whole thing on their website. By the way, I drink Jack Daniels. Thinking back to my days behind the school, try Southern Comfort. Make sure to keep the bottle hidden in a paper bag. Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, Shouting "...holy shit...what a ride!"

At Cross Keys, the planes usually take off over a golf course that is just past the end of the runway. I often imagine that the golfers are asking themselves why would anyone jump out of a perfectly good airplane, while I am thinking why would anyone spend over $100 dollars to chase a white ball through the woods? GREAT. I don't think that they are in business either. Googled, yahoo'd, starred, you name it and no dice. Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, Shouting "...holy shit...what a ride!"

Does keeping your reserve handles increase risk?
philly51 replied to tdog's topic in Safety and Training
On my malfunction, didn't hesitate to dump them both. At the time, keeping them was the FARTHEST THING on my mind. To tell you the truth, didn't even know I threw them until the rigger asked for them. Talk to me about night jumps....
philly51 replied to hawkflight's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Phreezone just about nailed it. One thing I would like to add is to wear sunglasses on the ride to altitude. This will protect your night vision when the inevitable stobe goes on in the plane. Be sure to take them off before exit. Thanks for the input. I noticed the front riser situation on the first jump, (at around 4k). I'm a pretty conservative canopy pilot, so gaining speed with risers doesn't come into the picture. The last time I was anywhere near a swoop pond was when they were excavating the one at Cross Keys. I'm happy with the general performance, so far, and I'm using it in my second rig. Thanks again. I've acquired a Conquest 170 with about 15-20 jumps total for a great price. I've jumped it 3 times so far and was smacked on the first two. On the third, I rolled the nose and tail and the opening was much softer. After speaking to a rigger, he suggested putting a larger slider on it. Anyone have any idea where one may be acquired? I've been told that it was made by PISA. Best suggestion I can give is to make sure that your skates fit! Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, Shouting "...holy shit...what a ride!"

The gear store at Cross Keys, Square 3, has a good selection of helmets. If you want to head out to Pottstown, about 1 hour, Aerostore has the same. Anyone know where I might come by an Aquabouy?
philly51 replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in Gear and Rigging
Skydive... you're right about them no longer being made. From what I've heard, they only floated well enough for someone to find the body. I bought "Sospenders" for a beach boogie, and found that it worked fine. Came with a belly belt and had no troubles with it in freefall, while doing RW. Freefly might be different. I jump all year, in NJ, and Ifound that Footjoy winter golf gloves work fine. If it's really cold, ( minus F on the ground) I add a pair of liners( silk or thinsulate) under them, and I haven't had any problems down to -30f at altitude. They cost $19.00 a pair at Dick's Sporting Goods. Liners are about $2-3 at any hardware store. GA. Divers: When Is It Too COld For You To Jump?
philly51 replied to Quasimodem's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I jump at Cross Keys all year. With a little special gear, I've found it very tolerable. A full face helmut is a must, along with GOOD gloves. I use winter golf gloves (Footjoy $20 a pair), along with glove liners. I can still feel my handles and have been to -30 F at altitude. If you treat your goggles and or helmut with anti fog spray, breath through your mouth throughout the dive, you shouldn't have much trouble. Lastly a heated packing area helps alot. Boomer.... If you're in Philly, the closest dz is Cross Keys. It's right off Rt 42 in Jersey about 30 minutes from Center City. Give them a buzz and I'm sure they'll take care of you.
