We are 100% committed to TS Wingsuit products. Love them....love Tony...my wife loves Tony and my dog love Tony...but he doesn't love my dog...and we love supporting a product made in the USA. So essentially anyone can add themselves without any validation as to their claimed skills? What benefit is that? Here is what I am thinking...maybe. Maybe a system that include Peer ratings. A thumb up or thumb down concept like Tivo but not editable like Linked In. It would take a real effort to group people together to vote someone significantly up or down...and it would be valid if done by peer's. We rent suits, we do not provide direct training through the company of Wicked Wingsuits. Again, for the record we are 100% independent but we do have a preferred supplier. I am not sure how this is relevant to this list at all. Wicked Wingsuits is 100% independent of any training method. We have referred people to Z-Flock, FlockU and Elsinore (PF) depending on where in the country they were based or were travelling. You will have to make your case against FlockU without dragging this list into it please. One of the owners (me) is indeed a FlockU certified instructor but that bears no weight on the list at all, that is why it is referred to as independent. Otherwise I would have just been referring people directly to the FlockU website wouldn't I? To date only 2 people registered on the list are FlockU but I would hope that all of their instructors do complete it. It amazes me that so many are so suspicious, I almost can't believe that people think the intentions are so sinister or somehow motivated by a desire to create web traffic or unleash death and destruction on newbie wingsuiters. It is, as previously stated to help a new wingsuiter make contact with an experienced wingsuiter. The reality in the US is there are people jumping at rural drop zones that are not going to make a trip across the country to visit a school or a boogie. I still contend that having access to a local and experienced wingsuiter beats youtube and dz.com for knowledge. Either way I am pleased to say the list is off to a good start, those that simply completed the form are highly experienced and I would feel comfortable sending my customers their way. My intent is to allow it to be a listing that has no true maintenance or policing to it, truly independent. That might not work but it is worth a try to start with. In another thread a topic came up that got me thinking. FFC exit...inside or outside. I have seen both and I have personally done both. There seems to be a strong feeling against an outside exit but I wonder what the facts are behind this stance and maybe it is aircraft related? Personally at this point in time I feel a student has more chance to "jump" from inside the aircraft. They also seem to be able to get their wings open quicker which often results in instability our of the door due to the left wing normally leading. Definitely have seen more stable exists from the float BUT I wouldn't like to think that the price is safety. My experience with FFC's is both limited and also limited to Otters and just a few Caravan exits. The tail strikes I have witnessed or seen video of were all from inside the aircraft and at least one was an Otter. I haven't personally witnessed or seen video from an outside exit but I am sure they exist. Would be nice to see a fair discussions on the pro's and con's of each as a learning topic. If you take a moment to READ my post you will see I told them to use google to get IDEAS. It is a drawing and that was the requirement, create a drawing of a wingsuit....that could be a combination of ideas from google, couldn't it? I have done this before for drawn images of aircraft....it works fine. It just appears they took a short cut in this case and I am fixing the issue. So what's your beef? We contracted a company to design the website. I told them to get ideas from images.google.com for wingsuits. No idea it came from something so obvious on the PF website. A true independent website would be ideal and save me effort but it doesn't exist, does it? I think your conspiracy theories theories are a little paranoid....but entertaining. "fly like a brick" being in our Top 10 is a coincidence...but interesting you would think of it as SEO. When you just mentioned it I had to go and look to see what the heck your were referring to! For your information the list is going to be in the form of a Google Map so I don't think that would make a single difference to SEO....(I had to google SEO by the way). We already have a healthy ad budget with adwords for our placements but thanks for the idea! I do want to set the record straight on this kind of comment which we do sometimes hear. We do not ever put the motivation of money before safety concerns. There is no evidence of that, an ill fitting suit is the side effect of a rental suit...just as it is the side effect of a demo suit not fitting perfectly. It is also why we ask our clients to get a FFC where the suit can be checked. We have on multiple occasions paid for return shipping and refunded suit rental costs because of a badly fitting suit. Most can actually be adjusted correctly with the right knowledge and that is why we ask people to find a coach. See how this is all pointing towards why we want to provide a list? It is to help people..not to actually make a steaming pile of money. Our suits are already in more demand than we can handle and we have almost 100 in inventory now. We rent to people that are qualified by USPA standards to fly a wingsuit or are close enough that they will clearly meet the requirements within the rental period. We require them to agree to get coaching if they have no experience. Do they? I don't know for sure..we don't have a Private Investigator checking on them but I know they do ask me where they can get help from. Thats the purpose of the list, to help people find help. We (my wife and I) do this as a family hobby to pay for my skydiving expenses...all the profits go back into skydiving one way or another. I have a real job that pays our real bills. We have turned away plenty of potential customers because of various concerns. The purpose of our list is to fill a gap we have found based on the questions of our customers. Some of you can continue to think there is some evil motivation behind it but it is much simpler than that. It's great fun talking to people every day about the excitement of wing suiting and how it has change the way they look at skydiving....that's the reward we get. I dont. Outdated or even non present knowledge and flying skills should never be 'better than nothing'. Rather send them to someone else who IS a good coach, instead of the 'least worse' Whats the point if such a list is not 100% validated, good, current coaches? If people look up a coach for safety reasons, make sure they all are safe and not coaches rated over a beer or their ego/years in the sport. Not here to debate, simply to compile a list. For the purposes of the list we are going to use the USPA definition of a Wingsuit Coach which is found in SIM section 6-9: "Note: As used here, "Coach” describes an experienced wingsuiter." We will present to the customer at their request a non-prioritized list of experienced wingsuiters with their experience and ratings. As you see we have decided that a USPA instructional rating or equivilent is necessary. For example, if you are an experienced wingsuiter and have a TI or AFF rating we will accept your details for publication. I suspect other countries have similar instructional ratings and I know for sure the UK, Australia and Canada do. Our waiver has always required the customer to agree to: "I will seek wingsuit coaching" This is our way of helping them meet that requirement. Non-wingsuiters tend to not know about the network we belong to. Again, if you would like to be on the list please send the requested details to me. There is certainly a demand for such information. One of the key questions we get is about where is the "closest" place for me to learn to fly a wingsuit. So location and ability to travel is going to be an important part of the list. I am happy to maintain such a list, getting people in the air by giving them access to educated resources benefits us and the industry. I actually think someone that was a BMI in 2003 is still a better option than someone just throwing themselves out of a plane and flying back up jump run. We try and avoid that but there is never a guarantee that a wingsuit won't fall into the wrong hands. In our rental business every day we get asked by skydivers "where can I find a local wingsuit coach"? We currently tell people where the existing wingsuit schools are in the country (SDC, Zhills, Elsinore, Jumptown, Pepperell) but not everyone can or wants to travel. We are going to start answering this question with a neutral list of coaches.
