The Z-hills Double Fatal Speculation Thread
WickedWingsuits replied to base283's topic in Safety and Training
I meant head impacting something. Impact doesn't have to mean head to ground at 120mph. Maybe the word collision would clear it up. I switched to a full face over the winter after a gnarly head to foot collision. Looked like I had been in a bar fight. A full face will protect against a flesh wound but still nothing compared to a serious helmet. I tend to think many people wear helmets as a camera mount not for safety. If it were for safety you would see a lot more protecs. I sometimes jump my ski helmet and people make fun of me. At the end of the day it's your head, I just wish people understood that there isn't really that much protection. I am probably a bit sensitive to this topic because I have had a couple of serious snowboard and bike accidents where good helmets saved my life but still left me with conclusions that lasted over a year. It's not pretty. Anyways, getting a bit off topic. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com -

A skydive helmet really doesn't provide much protection from impact, not when compared to real protective helmets. You shouldn't rely on that device.... Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com -

An RSL wot help you if you are unconscious. I was on a jump with a buddy that was knocked out from a collision. He was jumping 2 rigs back to back. One had an AAD and one didn't. As luck would have it he had the AAD rig and woke up on a golf course. Since then I became a believer. I think it's fine to jump without an AAD but I don't think it's an opinion that should be rammed down people's throats. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Wingsuit Instructor/Coach Rating Input Needed.
WickedWingsuits replied to Para5-0's topic in Wing Suit Flying
The bonfire would be no fun if we all agreed. Lets face it, even if the BSR wording were changed to specify an instrctional rating it wouldn't make any difference most of the time. It isn't enforceable and would only become a factor if an incident occurs. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Wingsuit Instructor/Coach Rating Input Needed.
WickedWingsuits replied to Para5-0's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I totally agree. However if you are so bad you can't get a coach rating that would be an indicator that you cannot share knowledge very well. I have said before that if someone is an instructor for another serious type of activity then that is good indicator also. I would trust a Dive Master with Wingsuit experience over someone with zero teaching certificates. It just demonstrates and ability to share information and take people's safety responsibility. At the end of the day I don't personally care too much. People should be motivated enough about their safety to seek out a mentor that has a good track record. If someone is going to take your money they should be a professional and that means a rating...in wingusiting the manufacturers offer that and most require a coach rating so it kind of already exists. If USPA feels like they have to do SOMETHING then this would be fair to me. I am not as passionate about it as I am against a WSI. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! A coach rating demonstrates the ability to teach. Only part of it is in air skills. The more important part is accepting that you have someone's future in your hands and have a responsibity to understand what you are educating someone on. A good coach understands that if they are asked a question they don't know the answer to they have to get an answer and not just make it up. Honestly it is not that hard. If you don't have the drive to get a coach rating you shouldn't be teaching. It just shows you take the matter seriously. I won't have any heartburn if it doesn't pass but it is a very fair compromise and wouldn't hurt other disciplines if it set a standard. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! If you are SERIOUSLY poor and money is the only thing stopping you coming to this event then contact me and Wicked Wingsuits will cover your entry. However, don't claim to be seriously poor and turn up with nice new and clean wingsuit, rig and canopy! We are talking living in a car packer poor here. It would get my vote for sure. I have long believed that to coach in any discipline you carry more weight if you are at least a USPA Coach or country equivalent. When I got my coach rating I was in the same class as Nick Batsch. His opinion was that to be a canopy coach he should be a USPA Coach. He passed by the way. If you want to charge money for it and therefore be considered a professional it is only ethical to be at least a rated coach. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Sorry for the delay! We did a performance camp this weekend and I brought up the viewer a few times. Also used my version of Paralog to show a few numbers...should get a few new customers from that demo. What I am interested in seeing quickly with this viewer are the comp window stats, Speed, Distance, Time. I realize there is a fine line between the free viewer and using Paralog itself. I like the viewer as it is quick, requires no install and doesn't freak out about serial number. I have a few flysights I end up jumping. It rocks for sharing also. It would also be quicker to view the comp window stats than me having to switch m to ft every time..but thats just a problem I have. The downside is not all DZ's have internet access. Jumping with sprained ankle
WickedWingsuits replied to FreefallSnoopy's topic in Safety and Training
I had minor surgery to my "bad" leg once but it was ok to jump. However I favored my "good" leg too much and broke it. Then my "bad" leg became my "good" leg. Sit it out. The Book of Wingsuit Formations
WickedWingsuits replied to justincolebriss's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I am 175 and the R Bird is by far my favorite suit for flocking. It certainly isn't a big suit. One thing to remember when going for a "small" suit is holding your slot in the formation is only a third of the flight. You have to get there, possibly recovering from a baulked exit. Then you have to get out of town when the time comes. At the opposite end a "large" suit is not only a nightmare for the person flying it but is the worst thing to try and hold a slot around. It feels like you will get taken out every second of the flock...and then it happens now and again. Big suits can create big waves. A good pilot however can control a suit on either end and picks the right tool for the job. It isn't just size, some suits are just not designed for slower flocking speeds. Just like a dragster isn't going to handle a NASCAR track so well. I totally agree that one mans large is another mans small! Just like canopies. Just as your quote says it is about %'s and that % changes as you get to know the parameters of a suit. Know your tools and dress for success! Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! Don't worry about getting a suit until you have done your FFC. That would be like buying your first canopy without having done AFF. Then try suits before you buy, if you pick right you will have it a long time. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Zhills Performance Camp - March 23rd
WickedWingsuits replied to WickedWingsuits's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I have had a few emails about this event and I realize I haven't done a good job of explaining what it is! Like a comp we will be doing Speed, Time and Distance runs. Saturday is the main day but I will be there and doing them on Friday and Sunday as time permits. Unlike a competition you will be allowed to wear headphones to hear the Flysight. We will also be debriefing the data from each jump as a group to discuss tactics. Wingsuit technique will be part of it, Tony Uragallo is on hand to share some tricks. However there is more to a comp than just getting the most out of your wingsuit. - Working a Flysight (I have 10 loaners) - Understanding each event: Speed, Distance & Time - Understanding the comp window - Reading the data - Tricks & Tips There is no registration fee. Fair questions. The jump tickets are normal Skydive City rate. I buy mine in blocks so I couldn't tell you exactly what that is but there is no boogie rate. High Altitude and Chopper jumps are more but worth every penny. Some people signed up for as little as $25. Most paid $35 and it is now $45, till Wednesday midnight. I feel pretty good that there were some very affordable options. The $55 and $70 prices are solely there to motivate people to register in advance. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! I will explain just so people don't assume it is about the $$$'s. It is really about planning. By having a huge door price I am trying to motivate people to sign up in advance. Last year over 15 people signed up at the event. It's hard to plan how many organizers, planes and strippers we need if the headcount isn't somewhat accurate. We just added another organizer when we hit 60 attendees. If it hits 80 I will add another. The alternative idea I played with was having a cap on tickets but that seemed like an even worse idea. Just trying to give a quality experience. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com

The worst thing for Flock n Dock would be to have all these great people come from all over the world and to not have enough organizers to keep everyone entertained. Michael is sending us 10 Flysights....so if you are coming and want to demo one please PM or email me. The way it will work is we will do jumps and then debrief them as a group to discuss the competition window and getting the most out of your run. Tony has a few tricks he is willing to share and the cost is Corona. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. The FlySight does a better job than any other GPS I have tried for getting and keeping a signal. It is almost as if it isn't as picky as some GPS devices. All I can say is my $250 FlySight and the $200 reward still beat the $2000 Storm with only 35 jumps I thought I had written off! Of course the FlySight was purchased for other reasons. This just happened to be a bonus. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com

I often wear my flysight on a regular flock just to see how I can max things off at breakoff. More than a few times I thought it was a bit of a waste of effort just taking it on a flock...well NO MORE! Last weekend I had to chop a spinner. It was pretty gusty and I watched as my canopy floated off East into the swamps of Zhills. As with many dropzones there is a local trekker who can find pretty much anything. I was able to use the GPS track of from the Flysight to show him exactly where I had chopped. That was interesting because we first used the video and thought it was somewhere else. He did a few calculations, went off and found my main and freebag! It only took him an hour to find it...but 3 more to get it down from the tree. Thank You Flysight! All skydivers should wear one! *I bet someone dogs on me for maxing it out after breakoff..... Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month.
