What is interesting about that position is the person who hit the tail would have passed every step of the checklist you have in place. All I am pointing out is even the most qualified guys make mistakes. I am not suggesting your rules are too imposing. Your dropzone, your rules. I have to admit I don't travel with my paper logbook. I do have an electronic photocopy of the last jump I recorded in it and Parlog for the rest. To date nobody has ever asked for either of those, including West Side Skydivers where I just turned up to last Friday. They were awesome by the way, nice new DZ, great pilot and staff. No hassle but plenty of safety. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com

I thought there Cypres service bulletin was to simply press the button before each load to see if it is still functioning. Then at the next service it would get updated. Does your DZ require everyone to get the firmware updated? Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com

It is a bit off topic but if you want to fire up a thread I will participate...until it gets ugly.

It's a good point. We did have a nasty flare gun injury so maybe the signs don't work.... Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com

It's the only can out there right now, other than "Put signs on the plane and around the DZ". I don't have too much faith in that one Right, because people only react to rules and regulation. http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/sledgehammer-to-crack-a-nut.html To date nobody at a dropzone with a sign has hit the tail. Based on other examples here I therefore conclude that good signs prevent tail strikes. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Sounds like a good excuse for a beer. Online forums, email, text in general is a pretty weak form of communication. I read a few articles recently about how it is a real issue for the younger generation. Boy I never thought I would be saying that. Spot and I have always been much nicer to each other in person than online. My last couple of attempts to discuss topics in the forums have ended as badly as they have I the past. I think it is more about the medium than the person or the relationship. It works well for getting information out there and has great value. For other topics its not so good. We might now have to debate my opinion on Internet forums! Thanks for pointing out the childishness....it's true. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Agreed. Problem solved at the local level. Sorted. Except that earlier, you're exhorting that "pressure to land on the DZ is hurting lots of people." So, which position are you taking this time? Is this another "we've been saying the same thing the whole time, but I've been saying it different than you" conversation? No I was saying it wasn't enough of an issue to warrant national attention. I was saying its not a big issue and get over it. My mistake here was thinking I could have any kind on conversation on the topic with such a bully. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! Wingsuiters should be able to spot and navigate. 100% agreed. That isn't the same as not landing off. You can land "on" but still navigate through tandems and canopies. Anyways, I think we have another dead horse. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com

Landing off doesn't kill people. Landing off into obstacles is what kills people. Yes, I have seen the pressure of landing on hurt a lot more people than I have seen hurt from landing off. I recall an esteemed wingsuit instructor being very proud of an off landing onto the 50 yard line during a football practice. Remember? Emergency? I already agreed with Jarno on the topic of upsizing too quickly. Edit to add: Don't twist this, I do think people should know how to navigate. It just isn't as deadly as you make out. Hurting others doesn't just include the skydive. It also includes the friends that have to help wipe your ass for 6 months. Your family having to bury their kid. The folks that came out to enjoy watching pretty canopies but get to see someone die instead. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Back to the issue of wingsuits being banned. I have chatted with a couple of folks (RD) so far that don't really know what you are getting at. Just waiting for a ND to call me back. Is it something to do with liability insurance? Can I get the next clue please? Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. I am just reading a thread in incidents about someone that is dead because they downsized their canopy too quickly. I totally agree that one shouldn't downsize too quickly but the problem that is really killing people in our sport is small and aggressive canopies, not wingsuiting. Wingsuiting doesn't fit at some dropzones. Just face that as fact, it isn't the end of the discipline. Off landings don't kill people. However the pressure that some are putting on people to make it to the DZ is what kills people. How anyone loses altitude awareness in a wingsuit is beyond me. I don't know if that person should be skydiving let alone wingsuiting. If I had an AAD save me I would be very happy and then likely hang up my rig. I hope I don't have to be quoted on that some day. +1 The suit often gets blamed for lack of performance when really the pilot is the issue and the suit is just along for the ride. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com

If someone gets a copy of this presentation, can you post a link? No point in us all separately bugging USPA for something like this. Best guess I could come up with was that it must be in here: http://www.uspa.org/Portals/0/Downloads/Min_BOD_2013_03.pdf I am not about to call people up and say "hey, I heard on the internet that something interesting that is somehow related to LODI banning wingsuits was presented in a finance meeting, tell me more". This feel like a treasure hunt but I don't know what the treasure is. So for now I give up and will get on with something useful. This is just another example of "we know something you don't know....". Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Ah, the minutes. I got the impression you were calling something in the numbers out what with you referencing the Financial report. I am pleased with the USPA decision. If Bill wants to ban wingsuits then he can go for it. Land of the free and all. There are other dropzones in the area. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. For 2011 I'd hazard a guess it's a reference to Form 990 page 10. Take a look at Legal and Premiums. But IDK exactly what he was referring to. Interesting, I don't think I agree with you but you might be right. I expect legal fees are outside council on many issues and I would be amazed if wingsuiting was part of that. I thought it might be drawing attention to salaries but I can't see how that would be in any way relevant. "confused" - more secret code. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! simon i usually agree with you, but on this topic i dont fully agree. a doscile 9 cell (mostly square) is acceptable, but when you start delving into the fully eliptical 9 cells i cant agree with that train of thought at all. they do spin up faster, no question about it. if the pilot is very current under the wing i might somewhat agree with your train of thought, but a person with a new canopy should err on the side of caution, specifically with a new eliptical canopy Sure, I wasn't saying anything about elliptical. All I am saying is I think this "7 cell for wingsuiting" is rooted in some wingsuiters always wanting to be on a 7 cell platform. I don't have any experience with elliptical canopies myself so I always ask my new students to stick to a semi-elliptical\square until they understand the opening sequence enough to make their own choices. I think the 9 cell vs 7 cells in wingusiting is simply because many BASE jumpers prefer to always be on a 7 cell platform. If you have no interest in BASE or don't care about switching platforms then it is irrelevant. I had just as many good and bad experiences on my Pilot as I do my Storm. I would wait until you no longer consider the 135 to be "new". Just like skydiving in general it is best not to stack too much "new" into a single jump. If you are in a hurry to bang out an FFC then stick with the 150. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Power Track Suit- would RWbooties help?
WickedWingsuits replied to base935's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I have a TS Tracking Suit which pretty much has RW booties. In fact the idea was you could use the pants for RW if you wanted. It didn't inflate anywhere near how the new power suits are going. I don't track enough to know if it would make a difference but some of these guys I watch can outfly a crappy WS pilot. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month.
