  1. In my dropzone, and in finland in general, students will have a hook knife from jump one, and they are taught that if they had a leg strapped in the lines, they have to cut the leg out of the lines before the emergency procedures, that could be a very dangerous situation if you deploy your reserve when still stuck in your main. A while ago a first time jumper just died because of that, and we had a similar situation in our dz, and the jumper just cut the lines above the link, chopped the main and deployed the reserve.(and brought both handles and the hook knife down with him, tough guy huh? with only four jumps.) Of course we have only s/l courses, you could more easily get stuck in the lines from a bad exit...
  2. The sun is shining here, but it still sucks, last weekend we put our plane to sleep trough the winter, and as soon as we did that, the sun started shining...(of course) We can still go jumping for some random weekends to some dropzone which keeps the plane the whole winter, but it's still freezing cold...
  3. I'm working now, but starting school again in a year, then I can't afford to jump everyday anymore.. just weekends..
  4. There isn't a one country that isn't fucked up, this whole world has been fucked up since human was born...at least we're trying to make our lives worth living for...
  5. And always remember to look at the horizon, when I was learning (still learning but progressed quite a bit) I was looking at the ground, that made my body to arch, and I kept falling on to my back. When I was at a sunset load, I looked at the sunset all the way down, did some cartwheels, and my hd was completely stable. I didn't know it would affect so much, but it did...
  6. LOL ! That's all a skydiver could ask...
  7. Did I hear a word 'first' ? Or was it just the time before the second ? Take some beer with you when you come to the DZ today.. First time I see a fellow jumper around here.. (first ? did I say that out loud ? oops...) Nice weather today ! So see ya at the dropzone in a couple of hours...you're gonna be fine with that jump, just arch hard and do your thing
  8. LOL This happened to my little brother once, it wasn't a refridgerator tough, but a kitchen trash can...

  11. I did 7 jumps, once from 4000 metres, but you, as a finn, know that there's friggin' cold up there by this time of year, so we jumped mostly from 1000 metres, learning to swoop with my sabre, did 90 & 180 deg. carve's, that's fun !

    Weekend Funnies

Some Q & A's Q: What do Rice Krispies and Monica Lewinsky have in common? A: They both talk after being hit with a white milky substance. Q: Why do black widow spiders kill their males after mating? A: To stop the snoring before it starts. Q: Know what the difference between in-laws and outlaws is? A: Outlaws are wanted! ------------------------------------------------ Smart Ass Remark ------------------------------------------------ An English professor told her students that there would be no excuse for not showing up for their final exam, except for serious injury, illness, or a death in the student's immediate family. A smartass jock in the back of the room asked, "What about extreme sexual exhaustion?" The entire class did its best to stifle their laughter. When silence was restored, the teacher smiled sympathetically at the student, shook her head, and sweetly said, "You can write with your other hand." ------------------------------------------------ Check out the George's book in this pic... (worksafe)
  13. I've noticed a while ago, that we have totally different licensing system here in finland, so can someone post a link or something about your licensing system in US, so I can learn about it. Here in finland we have only s/l courses. (except one aff in helsinki) When we pay the course fee, we can use the club's student gear for free for all of our student jumps, and all further training is free. When we have A-license, we're still students, and with B-license we can go to the plane without jumpmaster, but a jm still checks our gear. And then we get the C-license, so then we're 'ready', and have to by our own gear. It took me 43 jumps to complete that, but usually it takes about 50 to 60 jumps. And this costs about $ 400. Plus the gear and jumps of course.
  14. Well, if hanging at dz.com is worksafe, I think that if you take a quick look at the pancakes, it's kinda semi worksafe...At least here where I work...
  15. Ok, here's a joke for you... An executive was in quandary. He had to get rid of one of his staff. He had narrowed it down to one of two people, Debra or Jack. It would be a hard decision to make, as they were both equally qualified and both did excellent work. He finally decided that in the morning whichever one used the water cooler first would have to go. Debra came in the next morning, hugely hungover after partying all night. She went to the cooler to get some water to take an aspirin and the executive approached her and said: "Debra, I've never done this before, but I have to lay you or Jack off." Debra replied, "Could you jack off, I have a terrible headache." ------------------------------------------------------------ Pancakes anyone ? (semi worksafe) OK OK! NOT Worksafe!

    Just wondering

I was at sunset load the other day, and it was the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen above ground, the sea, coverd with clouds painted orange by the sun..all that suset shit..you know...but that's not the subject.... We're jumping from a cessne 206, so there was six people on board, and four of them left from about 8000 ft. and there I was with an rw guy going up... As we arrive to the exit altitude, I wondered that what does an rw guy do if he has to, for some reason, jump alone ??? He said that he's going to just enjoy the sunset... Hell yeah I enjoyed the sunset too, but in in a sit or headdown, and I had serious fun altough I was alone, but the rw guy just floated there on his belly, and I bet that I had much more fun than him...
  20. wish my boss was anything like you, but no, he isn't.. Getting rewarded for what you do, makes you do things more efficently, and makes you want to go to work every morning... As far as I'm concerned, if I don't get at least one jump for the evening, that makes me think that I don't want to go to work tomorrow, 'cause the boss is a dumb mf...a jump saves the next day 'cause the boss can't...
  21. Sunglasses? What sunglasses ???

    New Guy

We're ain't going there to fall, but to fly...
  23. We're jumping out of a cessna 206 (yeah, I know it's small, but like they say, size doesn't matter.. ..?) All that matters is that it can get up...huh? What am I talking about...skydiving..right?
  24. Please share some fun (and easy) 2-way exits with me... Thanks already
  25. # 1, not a doubt... "Even a bad day at dropzone is better than a good day at work"
