All it takes is a little tech-knee-que. Control does not mean force or power. Remember the scene in Empire strikes back when yoda move the X-wing out of the swamp? "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

hmmm... must be why they pioneered synth-pop. Have you ever heard DEVO?!? I haven't been this excited since I met colin from wire. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

That's good advice. You should talk to DEVO! Ask which one is a minister for the church of the sub-genius.... "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Tell them you're chatting with you're skydiving friends online and we all all big fans! Mark Mothersbaugh is the lead singer of Devo and has composed a number of soundtracks for wes anderson films like "the life aquatic with steve zissou" and "the royal tennebaums". We would have plenty of money if we would remove 1/2 of the social give away programs the left buys votes with that create a dependant class...... And why are looking at Bush's ass?? What votes are the Left Buying? The bottom 50% of income earners.... who have no free capital for political contributions to begin with? Probably not since we all know politics is bought with money! Wake up, Dude! The top 3% make 85% of the political contributions... think. --------------------+ Onto my Modest proposal.... Ironic that the rich on DZ.com would bitch about paying 3% more in taxes for the working 50% income earners of america. If you picked up that 3%, the government could get rid of certain entitlements because the working class could afford a home! Simple math! What is $5k to someone who earns $200k+ per year vs someone who makes $30k or less per year? p.s. you're not buying them a house, you're allowing them to afford a mortgage for a home. Big difference. I'd think the wealthy would understand some basic business/ home financing but that has obviously been proven false. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

The Bottom 50% earn less than 30k per year. The top 5% roughly earn more than 200k per year. If the top 5% picked up the income tax for the bottom 50%, that would add 5k per household in spending power to the bottom 50%. That would have a far more positive benefit to the econmy than giving the wealthy minority a small tax break. As someone in the bottom 50% I can tell you that money would make the difference between renting an apt and a mortgage on a house. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Oh, you want to talk about the debt. The National Debt was $1T when Reagan came into office, now it's $8.2T. That's a $7.2T increase, of which $5.6T was under Reagan's, Bush(41)'s and Bush(43)'s administrations (17 years) and $1.6T was under Clinton's (8 years). So on an annual basis Republican administrations borrow at a rate 64% faster than Democratic ones., and it's speeding up under your hero. The Republican party is NOT the party of fiscal responsibility. The legislated cap on national debt was $8.18 trillion. When we hit $8.2 T the treasury dept submitted a proposal to rasie the debt ceiling or default on loan. Today the Bush administration approved raising the debt ceiling to $9 T?!?! Me: Yes, I am sure you dialed the wrong number. Them: what number is this? I dialed 555-xxxx. Me: Well, I don't know what number this is. I live alone and never had the need to call myself. long pause Them: You're sure Bob's not there? Me: Pretty certain. Can I take a message in case he does show up? Maybe Bob will dial the wrong number looking for you and I can relay the message... "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Hint: The solution is to fly faster... Swoop the bonfire.... Whooosh! Ah, the night jump stories I can tell. My favorite is being at a turbine DZ as a visitor, making night jumps, and having nearly five times the number of Night jumps as the S&TA or any other 'experienced' night jumper on the load. I was not suprised to see one of the locals break his leg that night. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Riggers - do you use packers?
Samurai136 replied to councilman24's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I jump and pack for myself until I lose the motivation to pack. Then I hang out with unpacked gear until someone who wants me to jump with them has the motivation to pack my gear for me.... or they get someone to pack my gear for me. This technique works best with multiple rigs.... "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -
Wrong. It is unfair. Here's why. In an MMP essentially every opinion has a representitive vote in parliment/ congress. Initially this seems great. I am Black. I am Gay. I am a minority opinion. (playing devils advocate here) I have my voice in government. In a MMP I have a designated representitve in government. Great! My opinion is represented as a minority. Wrong. You opinion is completely undercut. The majority will always rule. Yes, you have your designated voice but it will always be out voted. The success of the American system is that for any one candidate, they must appeal to the minority vote to win the majority (popular) vote in their district. Ultimately any random voter is more likely to have their opinion represented in government because the elected politician must be politically closer to the center than an extreme partizan politican.
