Hey...I am not a math expert, but there is a 50/50 chance my Dad was D.B. Cooper. He either IS or he ISN'T.

I have always stated that "He is a viable suspect that may need to be investigated" I have never said Melvin Luther Wilson was D.B. Cooper. Just a coincidence that he matches the physical description and disappeared in the summer of 1971. I thought I would put the name out there and the situation. If the FBI/Secret Service/US Marshal's want to play nice and talk to each other and look at the prints...so be it. I wish we had more information within the family, but we don't. I read that Gossett was a Police Officer. During my schooling for Criminal Justice, I had a professor that once stated; police officers would make good criminals, but the have morals and a conscious. This is one reason they can "see" and understand criminal behavior. Gossett probably sent the letters......bring a little excitement to his job/career. The letter that was sent prior to the hijacking was probably back postmarked on an office stamping machine in the mail-room of the precinct. An age progression was at the end of the Unsolved Mystery Video from 1997 at his approximate age of 70 and it is attached. I really do not know what to believe. I have never said he was D.B. Cooper, just a coincidence he disappeared in 1971 and matches the physical description. Carr asked for the public's help for this type of infomation. I just thought I would throw it out there in case the "Feds" are still monitoring this thread. They have more power than I do to check his prints/background. Remember before 9/11 Government agencies did not like to "play nice" with each other and "share" information. I do not have any evidence other than some memories from when I was seven and what I was told while we taped the Unsolved Mystery segment. In addition to what I learned while watching the show and some digging since 2006. I did take a lot of the advice given to me by everyone involved on this thread. I called the US Marshal, John P. Donahue, in Madison Wisconsin. He has moved to greener pastures. I asked the person who answered the phone if anyone of the agents were left that remember this case from 1971. She directed me to speak with Paul Severs, as he was an old timer. He was reluctant to give me any information. I threw out the FOIA and he said I could put that in writing and submit it to their central branch. He said he could not tell me anything other than the case is considered inactive, but officially it is still open as there is not a statute of limitations on a Federal crime of counterfeiting Federal Reserve notes. I did ask if my father's fingerprints were put into AFIS and he did not think so, as the case was 'made inactive" in Nov of 2001. I said maybe they should be looked at again or run in the database. He asked me shy and I said, well I think my father could be a suspect in the D,B, Cooper Hi-jacking.............after a pause and a brief long sigh, he said Well? huh? then said he had another call coming in. I also sent a request for his military records. I received a letter saying that there was nothing found with the limited amount of info I had. I called Leavenworth and received an e-mail stating they have no record of an inmate with his name. Hah!!! I am still looking for some identifying information through his first family in CA. They just have not responded to my requests. I did find a booking photo and his information written on the back of the photo in my pictures that were returned from Unsolved.
