  1. James Franco made a movie about the making of “The Room” aptly named “The Disaster Artist.” From everything I’ve heard it’s a good movie about a painfully bad movie. But the original movie, “The Room” has been rereleased and is being show in theaters right now. Which means that some poor bastards are inevitably going to confuse the two and pay real money to see “The Room” without even the benefits of rifftracks. This is not going to be pretty. I fully expect to see news reports about audience anger over this one.
  2. tt I haven't jumped there yet but some of my best friends have. According to them you've chosen well. Welcome to The Sport.
  3. Sounds like a few lines you would expect in a Monty Python skit... He must be a king. How can you tell? He doesn't have shit all over him. But I can't remember which came first. I think it was these lines, then "bring out your dead"
  4. I mentioned this in another thread but it's even more appropriate to this one. Find, borrow or download the episode O.B.I.T. from the 1963 series "The Outer Limits". At the time it would have been just another "what will they think of next" sci-fi show but now it seems downright prescient. If it weren't for being in black and white, cheap props and dead actors you'd think it was made very recently. It really is trip to watch it now.
  5. I predicted that Led Zeppelin would never replace Iron Butterfly and that Trump would never get elected. No more predictions for me.
  6. I didn't watch that clip but it's been obvious for a long time that people don't read past the shiny label. It says it's about climate change so it must be good. Unfortunately that's too many words without any pictures for too many people. If they'd bother to see what it really does it might just change their mind about it.
  7. I'm just curious, but does anyone here knew when the last 4 digit D was assigned?
  8. My question about Pakistan is how are they going to afford all of those American flags that they so love to spit on and burn if we cut off all of that money we give them for being our friends.
  9. Black Mirror only comes out once a year, and it is meant to sipped like fine wine, not guzzled like cheap beer! To each his own I have re-watched several episodes from past seasons and am likely to do that with some of these as well. But I did think there were a lot of revisited themes... Yes there are. 'Technology run amok' is the prevailing theme. I loved the one where everyone is obsessed with their 'social rating.'. The ending was great where they end up in jail swearing at each other and laughing just because they can. I just watched Arkangel and it reminded me of a show that you and ryoder really should watch. The only thing is, it came out in 1963. It's an episode of the original Outer Limits titled O.B.I.T. and no it doesn't mean obituary, it's Outer Band Individual Teletracer. Concentrate on that "Individual Teletracer" part. When this came out it would have been just another sci-fi what will they think of next show. But watching it now will blow you away. Aside from the outdated sets you'd think it was written very recently. Seriously, check it out.
  10. Sounds right. My Turbo Z was hybrid and you could tell. But packing it was so nice. After ZPs it felt like it just kind of flowed into the container. When I was working on my gold wings I often made every load at our dz (not as impressive as it sounds, six or seven tended to be a good day there). It was a cessna dz and they'd alternate tandem and rw loads. They'd have a tandem with photographer and I'd ride up to four or six k depending on the size of the others then be packed up by the time they exited and ready for the alternate rw load. Then the tandem master would always go over the exit from the plane long enough that I'd be packed and ready for that load. I'm not sure I could do that with my zp.
  11. You're welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing your D license listed. Bob
  12. Easter eggs are generally subtle links to other episodes of the same series. The parody of Star Trek is way too obvious to qualify as an easter egg. Another pair of Easter eggs in "USS Callister" link to two different series: - Jesse Plemons was in Breaking Bad" with Aaron Paul (the voice at the end). - Jesse Plemons was in "Fargo" with Kirsten Dunst (seen briefly in the office) and they are engaged in real life. I guess this was more of a ref, or something. It definitely wasn't subtle. I'm glad you'd mentioned the parody part or I might not have made it past the first scene. As it was it was perfect. I remember many years ago when I thought I was turning on SNL. This was long before online guides or anything and I thought it had been replaced by a music show that night and I wasn't going to watch it. Fortunately I didn't get around to turning the channel right away and saw the introduction of The Blues Brothers. They'd almost done that parody too well.
  13. [email] I don't see how they missed the Kirk/Uhura kiss. It wasn't just a kiss, but the way they held each other and all. Check it out at 35 minutes in.
  14. Spoilers here What do you think happened to Walton? Did he stay fried? He never reappears after they go into the wormhole.
  15. Those are beautiful planes. I've got a lot of Stearman and Waco jumps, as well as ultralight, but I'd really love to jump each of those. 'course the single seat ones might take some doing.
  16. I'm going to go back and start at episode 1 now.
  17. Fast openings are known to be the nature of the Sabre 1. If that nature were combined with very out of trim lines, I could see it resulting in an extreme situation. I did mention that harder openings are one of the indicators for needing a new line set. They start out very mild on the canopies that I specified, and they progress gradually. Canopy owners have time to recognize the changes in their canopy's behavior. One of the jumpers at Lancaster was making his first jump on his brand new canopy and ended up in ICU with serious internal injuries. A couple of years earlier when it was still Taylor Air Sports a friend demo'd one. He got maybe three normal openings then the fourth opening was so hard to tore up the upper skin. He expected to get a real ass ripping from the company when he sent it back but said he didn't hear a single word, as though it had never happened.
  18. That was great, thanks for the recommendation. The only easter egg I caught was the Kirk/Uhura kiss at 35 minutes.
  19. I would have to agree. A 100 lb girl under anything is much hotter than a 170 lb guy on a 170 sq ft main any day. Sorry, couldn't resist. I can't argue with that!
  20. I'd like to see that info get out to drop zones. Maybe Parachutist could run some articles on it.
  21. I have to admit that there were the occasional annoying things in my job at Seigfred Hall, Ohio University's School of Art. Not many but a few. One of them was the summer workshops. These would be groups of a couple of dozen who would spend a week trying to show that they already knew everything about the subject matter and try to hump each other. The worst was the young urban professionals (urban as in from the city, not their race) out of the office, away from the significant other, and in a genuine liberal arts university. But only for a week or two, poor bastards. One summer I had a really nice, seriously expensive, loupe. Well, I assume it's really expensive, a Japanese grad student left it in his locker when he graduated and went home. We got that a lot and I would even divvy up the bounty with my student workers. But I wanted that loupe. It looked so professional. I didn't have any use for it but I wore it on a cord around my neck whenever visitors were around. Oh, and each workshop would include a final saying goodbye dinner out at whatever happened to be the most expensive restaurant in Athens that summer. It was covered by the workshop and I was always invited so I'd eat well. So these workshops were varied. We'd have the young urban professionals, we'd have ones for international visitors, ones for teenagers and a couple for inner city kids. But one summer we had a genuine "little old ladies" workshop. I'm talking a dozen genuine blue-haired, walker using comfortable shoes little old ladies. They even chose Bob Evans for the blowout dinner because they had low cholesterol dishes. And one of THEM stole my loupe!!! I didn't know whether to be pissed off or proud of them. A little of both I guess.
  22. I forget. Is it "it's more funny because it's true" or "it's not funny because it's true?" Anyway, this brings back 20 years of memories. http://digg.com/video/college-tour-honest
  23. I'm just curious, but do suppressors interfere with accuracy? They change the point of impact of rifles but don't affect accuracy. Which means a grouping of bullets will strike a target in a slightly different spot with the suppressor attached. As compared to the same rifle with the suppressor off the same rifle. Thanks.
  24. But the idea of using gun safes has been around for at least 20 years. Which brings me to a mind game. Imagine there is no second amendment, no NRA, and you as President can pass any law you want. What law would you pass? Oh, one condition. You have to show how it would make any difference at all. And be able to explain how this law would be enforced. This is fantasy, but it's fantasy about passing a law, not waving a magic wand.
