  1. They also did a first rate version of "A Perfect Spy." If you get half a chance see it. There's no Smiley but it's very good anyway. And yet, that version of TTSS is much better than that recent movie. My first thought was that Guiness was way to thin to play Smiley. Notice how he leaves his coat hanging open in scenes shooting him from his side. But after just a few scenes you know you're looking at George Smiley.
  2. Those videos belong to the person who shot them. The DZOs have nothing to do with whether they're made available or not.
  3. Originally AADs were thought of as totally set and forget. It was a common attitude, at least where I jumped, that if you had a legit AAD save then it was time to quit jumping. You aren't capable of skydiving safely but this way you get to quit instead of die. I don't think people have that attitude anymore. Some of us still do, but mostly it feels as though it's being seen more and more like just another piece of gear.
  4. I'm not sure how well that holds up anymore, the pendulum that is. With the internet we've pretty much divided the country in half with neither side ever in danger of reading or hearing something that disagrees with their world vision. I think that all this information, not the glut of it, but our ability too easily sort through and categorize it before we even read it, has made some fundamental changes to society. And not good ones.
  5. I get a kick out of John Hannah yelling "Jupiter's Cock!!!!" when he gets upset.
  6. One thing that becomes obvious is that a lot of people have no idea how prevalent guns are in the US. The idea that some relative has to give a kid a gun for him to have one doesn't fly. As far as laws go, the FBI puts the number of stolen guns each year at between 300,000 and half a million. If it becomes difficult for a kid to sneak his parent's handgun out of the house he'll just buy an illegal one. How do you regulate who gets one of those?
  7. You have no clue what I know or don't know. But here's a question I've asked before and as far as I can tell got no response at all. Assume that the Second Amendment gets revoked, gone, and the NRA disbands. You can create any law you want. So, how do you end these shootings?
  8. It is traditional and common to use sarcasm in this forum. The comments are not at the expense of the dead children and you know that. The reason he feels no one cares is that no one is willing to make any changes to help prevent more incidents. If leaders care why don't they do something? This is just getting worse. I'm sorry I asked. By the way, have you heard any good holocaust jokes lately?
  9. What do you base that on? 11 in 24 days and nobody really cares. I think that is a pretty decent indicator. Nobody really cares? What orifice did you pull that out of? You and normiss take cheap shots at the expense of dead children but it's other people that are screwed up? Maybe you should look at where this "nobody cares" attitude comes from because you're the only people I know saying it.
  10. I've never heard anything about how ICE administrators gets along with Trump. The reason I wonder is that some of these latest deportations look like they might be done to deliberately stir up trouble, like the 43 year old Doctor deported to Poland after living here 40 years and the guy from Detroit who was deported despite living here just about all of his life.
  11. Right.....only go there for the articles..... Don't look at me. I've never been to Hawaii. I have. You should go. Especially Maui. Bucket List. Worth it. Unfortunately, never flying commercial again is already on my bucket list. It's a long way from Southeast Ohio to Hawaii. OK I am curious. That seems an odd thing to aspire to - why? (If you don't mind me asking?) No, no problem. I just don't deal with the whole cattle car thing very well. I guess it's part of being spoiled, even at work I didn't have to deal with other people much more than I wanted to. i've only flown commercial twice in my life and I hated it both times, and that was before 9/11. If I need to then sure, I will but I'm fortunate enough that I don't need to fly for work or to visit family. And our favorite vacation spots are in Wisconsin and in Gulf Shores Alabama and either of those are easy drives. In fact, when you figure in having to rent a car and pare down what you take I think it's easier to drive to both. And the fact that the nearest airport is a little over 100 miles away doesn't help. That's not a big factor but they add up. It's like getting a root canal, I can if I have to, but I'd rather not.
  12. Thanks. Towner was a force of nature. And it seemed so perfect that he was a railroad engIneer with their reputation, earned or not, for being serious bad asses.
  13. Yeh, but he did send Karadima, the pedophile priest who messed up all those lives, to his room. When the Pope decides to punish someone he really brings the hammer down.
  14. I wonder if they had a similar sign. "Do not use while aircraft is is on tarmac" Yeah, wouldn't that be embarrassing? I remember those signs on some Italian trains even 12-13 years ago. Or imagine DEA rushing the plane as it sits there and a key of cocaine drops out of the toilet right in front of them. Oops.

  16. Right, it's not like a forced or required apology means anything. I don't get this emphasis on meaningless apologies we seem to be hearing from someone or other every day.

  18. Jumper was doing a tracking dive with several other jumpers. His absence was noted after landing and his body found at the far west end of the landing area at Zephirhills Airport.
  19. Witnesses said he exited a balloon for a wingsuit jump and had a hard opening which damaged his canopy. Jump was near but not at Perris DZ.
  20. Reports are that he opened at 3000 feet and either then, or shortly afterwards his canopy started spiraling and he stayed with it to the ground.

  22. This is interesting, though I'm not sure where they got the numbers. According to this the false alarm had a direct affect on people using pornhub. https://twitter.com/Breaking911/status/953782600874823681
  23. So we have evidence that pigs fly. I think they're like me, they can fly a little but can't land for squat. I'm legendary for my bad landings.
  24. And then there are these pre-digested bombs. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/pork-falls-from-sky-lands-on-home-travis-adair-florida-mystery/
