  1. Why? If some combinations of gear is causing too much loss of visual or audible cues it would be nice to know. Do you feel the same way about the listing of canopy and rig?
  2. My first brother in law took flying lessons for awhile. One time his instructor couldn't make it but he was doing solos then so his instructor, over the phone, told him to practice some 90s. When Junior was returning the plane the guy asked him how it went. Junior said not so good, he could get it to about 80 degrees when it would shake and shudder so much that he couldn't get it any steeper. The had to pull it from the line for inspection.

I listened to it the night you posted. I found a site that had the previous episodes and said I could listen to that one after 10pm, which I did. I need to see if I can find it again. edit: in case I don't get back later here's where I found it. https://tunein.com/radio/Says-You-p480/ Now I can't remember if I had to wait until after 10 to hear all the episodes or that days.
  5. I think maybe it's time for USPA to revamp the fatalities reports as far as the gear goes. I think it should start including things like wing suit type. I'd also like to see helmet and goggle types. I realize that's a lot of info to collect but it would be worth if if we could detect for instance a combination of a particular helmet and goggles that keeps showing up in canopy collisions.
  6. This has always been a big problem and the Internet has made it much worse. There are still people who think the Green Star Trak 2 was defective. They pretty much put Paoliello out of business with false rumors.
  7. There are not many people on here who can really know what this means. My 27th jump was on PC #363. My first landing was like jumping off of a 4" curb. Jerry Baumchen My student jumps were on a 7-tu. The thing I remember most about those early jumps was the sound of landing. And it's not a pleasant memory.
  8. I was surprised when they gave me a card to fill out to join POPS. It was the first thing about turning 40 that was optional.
  9. Clinton didn't have to. He sicc'ed his wife on the female accusers, and threw them under the bus. Besides, all that shit with Stormy happened over a decade ago. I'm just so glad to go back to the reality of people going into the bathroom, taking a piss and moving on without wanting a Presidential Award for it.
  10. Looks like they cloned Beria. Jerry Baumchen I wonder if they'll come to the same end.
  11. That reminds me of the local jerk who was charged with aggravated assault when he smashed his wife's nose saying that it couldn't be aggravated because he'd hit her that hard many times before. Fortunately the jury wasn't buying it..
  12. j When I read that he's been in Apocalyse Now I did a double take thinking that can't be right, then I saw that this was in addition to FMJ.
  13. He was the only perso cool enough to be Brisco County Senior.

Well done, now I have to search NPR and see if it's online. Must be a local show, not listed on the NPR website. But I found it here: http://www.saysyouradio.com/listen-now/ I got worried because I thought the first one was for skydiving and I didn't recognize a single term.
  15. I always thought he was too tough to die.
  16. Have you heard it yet? I'm wondering if that's the voice that he normally used? Before I remembered who it was I got a pang of nostalgia because it's the voice of my Apple][c. I had some voice software for it and that's how it sounded.

  18. I consider the digital on my wrist, I'm up to a Neptune 3 now, more of a toy than anything. I like the info for my log book and it's handy for water jumps. But yes, it's my chest mounted MA2-30 that I consider my "real" altimeter.
  19. I remember several years ago on alt.folklore.urban when we spent quite a bit of time trying to nail down the actual origin of that saying but had no luck.
  20. That was a great article. It's so nice to see something that recognizes the many levels of demos and doesn't try to make everything into a Pro level jump whether it is or not. These "free and easy" demos get the excitement of skydiving out to the public and help us get new jumpers and to stay on the good side of the public. They're a valuable part of the sport that's been overlooked and even attacked for way too long.
  21. Heck, we know he will pay $130,000 for discreet, one time sex. He's a gold mine for hookers. And he got a really good deal at $130K! Elliott Broidy had to pay $1.6M!!! So what happened to the old "you don't pay prostitutes for sex, you pay them to go away"?
  22. Oh, and someone painted 'Private Dumpster' on, well, a dumpster and someone else followed up with 'Reporting for Duty.' I know, it's an old one, I first saw it a long time ago, but it's still a good one.
  23. That was my impression too. That's why I asked the question. I recently tried to get an R/W suit from one company and they listed it as 19 weeks(!). I got a similar suit from another company completed and shipped in less than 10 days, so I knew it wasn't about taking so long to actually get them finished. I'm also getting the feeling that maybe I should negotiate a bit more, because all the websites I go to (including Chutingstar, etc.) seem to ask for 100% payment to get the order STARTED (meaning you won't get into the queue without that payment) but looks like many of you do not pay 100% down. When I ordered my last jump suit they gave me a couple of months. Then I thought about it and called back and told them I'd pay the extra $40. I had it in two weeks and I figure some poor bastard who didn't pay the $40 had to wait an extra two weeks on top of everything else.
  24. My wife saw this sign on the wall in a Catholic nursery in Wisconsin. "We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed"
