Ok I have to disagree with most of you. I have 2 things to admit here: 1) I am a computer geek 2) I know shit about MACs. But I do know alot about needing a good computer and being in college. So here is what I suggest, buy middle of the line. I would suggest the 800mhz G4. if it is going to last the rest of her college career. If she is serious about graphic arts, she will need a good computer, something that will last her. So you can splurge a little now, or end up paying more in the long run. In the end tho, I suggest she gets the best that they can afford. trust me, she will be happier. (I had to suffer through on a POS system for a long time. it was miserable). Derek P.S. Hows about this.... FYI: The big boy airliners also use turbines for a/c. They are called "PACKS." But they do it totally differently. In the most basic sense, they use 50PSIG/400degreeF bleed air off the turbines to power an aircycle machine, which in design is pretty much VERY similar to a turbo charger from a car (and also what the NZ dude used to build his turbine -which on another side note looks like he did a damn nice thorough job - i have considered building one too). The bleed air turns an Aircycle machine, The bleed air turning the turbine expeirences a pressure drop accross the turbine, and the turbine also extracts a GREAT deal of heat from the air. This creates about a 35degreeF output. (which is so cold it has to be warmed back up by mixing in some of that 400degreeF bleedair). But thats the simple explanation. LOL So yes I am a geek, bite me. Ohhh yeah, Im sure I speak for all the others when I say were not flaming you. Personally I love who I am, and I really hate society judging ppl based on looks. I agree with Bill. Who the hell wants to fit in with what wuffos think is good "fashion". I want something I like, if you dont like it, BLAH. As for the spandex, although I dont like to see guys in spandex. It is extremely functional. esp for the guys. Helps keep everything in place you know, its cool, it breathes, and in these Fl summer days, you want to keep clothing to a minimium (esp when in a jumpsuit). FYI I dont wear spandex. I prefer naked. See I do need a suit. Hehehe (I would like a dytter too, but I doubt anyone is going to give me one). But I plan on buying one ASAP. ;) I had a protec helmet so I am using that, I bought some goggles before my first jump (had to look cool). I am looking for a suit, alti and dytter. hey peeps, no problem. I dont plan on freeflying quite yet, I just would like to get a suit that i can start wearing (for belly flying). I hear that each suit changes your flying characteristics slighty, so I would like to get used ot one (instead of taking whichever peice of crap they have in the student room). I just would like a freefly suit because thats the direction I plan to go in eventually (and I think a baggy freefly suit would be best anyways to help slow me down a little. - I practically have to fly flat with little to no arch so my AFF JMs could keep up with me. OK heres the deal. I just finished AFF. I am trying to put together some gear. So I am turning to my new family for a little help . Im sorry to be a bum but so far many ppl have offered to help me, but it hasnt work out to well (be it canopy to small/someone already gave there suit away/the container doesnt fit etc, etc). What I am hoping for is a freefly suit (or any suit for that matter). If someone has an old one, sitting in the back of the closet, I would really love to be able to give it some air time. I am pretty much broke (we have all been there ), but if we can work out a deal to loan/make payments/or sell cheap, I would really appreciate it. I will definitaly pay shipping. Hehe, yes its true, in just 8 nice jumps, I have completed AFF. So that makes my #'s for the weekend: 15 : 1 : 2 15-> Ok in reality its 0, but thats what i should have been... 1 -> was going to do more, but the weather sat, was crap, and by time I bummed enough $$$ for more jumps sun we got weathered again. 2 -> OK so I graduated AFF thats 1, but Im nice so Ill be buying at least 2 cases. ;) Gifts in the form of jump tickets (and or spare/used equipment donations) my be forward to me or Skydive Deland.
