  1. any links to sites with info on the hardware? ATV would be cool as well
  2. kewl! I've been to Pacificon many times.. good times (if you're a ham) I'm gonna have to check this out!
  3. ok, my bad I guess, I couldn't find anything on the RWS site about anything related to C23 at all. My refrence to the C23d for them came from one of their distributors saying it was.
  4. doesn't get any more true than that! Both rigs are mfg to TSO C23(d), so I don't think that one is more safe than the other from a mechanical point of view. I'd think selection would boil down to other things, like fit, materials; basically, personal preference and experience.
  5. thats the worst example of those I've never seen!
  6. I've got a whole mess of pulls at 2k with an F111 canopy and no AAD... luckily, no malfunctions. Now I'm jumping a Sabre2 (with AAD), which does take longer to open, so I pull around 4k most of the time now. I've got time to deal with any issues and get a nice canopy ride in. I don't need to milk the sky for all the freefall time I can anymore.
  7. personally, I'd like to see an unbiased/3rd party report of AAD statistics.
  8. gives new meaning to "riding your reserve"
  9. You you need to ask yourself what YOU want out of your reserve. IF you have an AAD, take into consideration that there may be a time where you're not conscious to land. Do you want to land safely or barely escape serious injury or even death? A reserve is a last chance effort to save Your Life. I wouldn't concern myself too much with what risks others may take, as long as it's not a danger to anyone else.
  10. welcome to the site, you've got some homework to do you can start here: http://www.dropzone.com/gear/ or at the site search at the bottom of the page.. a lot of what you're looking for has already been talked about ad nauseum
  11. interesting, The USPA should, at a minimum, acknowledge your letter. I'm sure they would be diligent in collecting all the information they could before formulating an official response and taking action, but at almost 30 days, the USPA has had plenty of time to at least acknowledge your letter. have you tried calling anyone direct? side note: not that you should need it, but your letter might carry more clout if your team mates were co-signers on the letter and/or submitted their own accounts.
  12. signature loan based upon a savings account at your local credit union (at a bank even?). I know they cost some cash nowdays; I just bought a new rig w/aad.. Back in the day (~90's), 2500 would go a long way.. but you didn't get an AAD and the increased performance/longevity of zeroP.
  13. Congrats and welcome aboard
  14. I still use my Altimaster II on a pillow mount, from time to time. It was my first altimeter in 1989, and it's still performing quite well. As mentioned, it's handy for others in freefall as well.
