  1. i don't know who you are, but remind me if we ever meet to buy you a beer for that comment. that is one of the funniest things i've read in a VERY VERY long time and i hear some funny shit. carrier monkeys. arlo
  2. oh dear god i almost lost it on that one!!! it's a good thing my name isn't gabriella or alexandra or evangeline or something long like that. but you know, now that i think about it, if my name was deborah you'd only have to shave 6 letters.
  3. thanks marc. i'm sure that with the cross-section of folks that read dz.com, somebody HAS to know someone who has this disease and might not be up to date on the latest medical findings. it's like the skin cancer thread....if it helps one person, then it's made a difference. i'm just so thankful that it's something i can contribute. i can't stand to think of someone suffering if they don't have to. see you guys this weekend... a
  4. Drug's Success in Fighting Cancer Stuns Doctors Medicine First Used to Treat Symptoms of Blood Disorder By MARILYNN MARCHIONE, AP ORLANDO, Fla. (May 16) - No one could have been more surprised than the doctors themselves. They were just hoping to relieve the symptoms of a deadly blood disorder - and ended up treating the disease itself. In nearly half of the people who took the experimental drug, the cancer became undetectable.
  5. is that reverse psychology? unfortunately i won't be in state for the competition...dammit. but you guys be safe and have a kick ass time!! i fully expect the mofohos to come out in slinky clothes and distract and defeat any male team that dares to show. but if you show up wearing ball gags and collars, I WANT PICS. love you guys! arlo
  6. not true. you can absolutely learn to 'slow fall' and 'fast fall' in the tunnel. absolutely. if you're 1/2 mile away and trying to find your group, then, you're correct. again, i'll disagree with that statement. head down outfacing carving is not a basic move and it's something i used to do that in the tunnel (to some degree) before the rust started building up. why would they? tunnel flying is NOT skydiving. never has been...never will be. it's different. it absolutely helps with your freefall ability, but it is not the same thing. i still don't understand why people feel it should be counted as freefall time. JMHO. arlo edited to add: i do realize that people have completed their AFF in 3 or 4 jumps because they've had tunnel training. but they still perform the requirements of those levels, it's just condensed because they CAN. someone with say, 10 minutes of tunnel time won't be blessed off for a level or two just because they have 10 mins. they still have to meet the requirements for that level. whoops. i forgot to say i have high twenty something hours of freefall time (not sure exactly...don't log anymore) and i have no idea how much tunnel time other than a lot more than freefall (maybe double?).
  7. Elderly Woman Survives Nine-Story Fall FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (May 11) - A 70-year-old woman survived a nine-story fall from a condominium tower when she landed on a canopy, officials said. Gloria Jummati was cleaning her balcony at Coral Ridge Towers on Wednesday when she fell and landed on a first-floor canopy, according to the Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue. Jummati was alert and talking when rescuers arrived. She was transported to Broward General Medical Center with a broken arm and other non-life-threatening injuries, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
  8. there's a video out called "learning to backfly" or something like that. it's the first in a series of 5 or 6 dvds that joao, juliana and fabian are putting out to teach peeps to freefly. there's backflying in the air and in the tunnel on it....pretty cool.
  9. i think neither of them would be suitable based on the information you have provided. if you have to buy one or the other then the flexon with the sabre 2. the jedei is a bad option for you at this time. but i would highly recommend you wait until you find something more suitable to your needs which would include a 190 main. hope this helps. arlo
  10. oh you just recommend reina because he's hot.
  11. that's exactly why i posted this...a simple reminder that might help someone. i'm so happy that it helped you expedite your decision to have it checked! that's great and just made my day.

    PD RESERVES

standards are usually set as the minimum acceptable "whatever" for a product. the question posed at the start of this thread was whether or not brand A was better than brands B, C, and D. all automobiles meet standards which have been set forth by "whoever." does this mean the only difference among cars is marketing and taste? i think not, but that's just my humble opinion.

  20. something looks a little squirrely about the section of video that shows your risers after deployment. not sure if it's from the "moisture" on the lens or what. did you edit out part of this video at all? it could just be my old eyes playing tricks on me. either way, the guy that opened near you - if he's certain he did nothing wrong, then don't jump with him again. that's your perrogative. but talking to someone else more experienced than both of you and having them check out the video is a great idea. there's no f-ing way any two people should be that close on opening (except for a tandem inst and his/her passenger ). i think there's more to this than what you've written...
