  1. in a very VERY rough nutshell. the 'mean green machine" used to jump at our dropzone and liked it so much he built a house and hanger on the adjoining fly-in subdivision. he used to be on a sponsored team and would ocassionally land in his own back yard at the end of the day. there was a possible falling out with the previous owner and he eventually began jumping at the other dropzone in town where he is currently on a sponsored team. he has since banded together a FEW homeowners and hanger owners (who are thru deed restristions allowed to use our airport facilities) and is trying to get us shut down for being a nuscience (ok - I cant spell that word) because we are actually landing on our property and the runway (it is a closed airport except for us and the subdivision homeowners). they went to court to get an injunction against us to make us stop landing on our property. WE OWN THE AIRPORT FACILITIES! they lost the case yesterday. like I said VERY rough nutshell
  2. quite often I get a toggle stuck enough that I have to use both hands to pull it down. don't really know how it happens - I only say something to the packer if i can see that it is snapped down. I'm short, so have proportionate arms so sometime have trouble pulling the toggle straight back to unsnap it. since you don't have to set the brakes on the Icaras, don't have that problem.
  3. I stand corrected - and I learned something.
  4. keep in mind that if you jump somewhere that is NOT a USPA dropzone - you aren't covered by USPA liability insurance. Unless you go the demo route with all he hassles that go with that, and then get demo insurance for the day.
  5. I used to fly TACA years (in the 80's) ago on my dive trips to Belize. Started a really nice collection of TACE labeled drink glasses . course they had a reputation of taking off for their next stop around central/south america before they unloaded all of the luggage. they may be better now.
  6. ____________ The first Woman P O T U S must be elected by the electoral college system, as flawed as it may be.... and NOT ascend to That historic honor, by defaut. ____________ don't understand your reasoning. that would be say that the first jewish president couldn't suceed - (s)he would have to be elected. doesn't make sense.
  7. I think what is more important is not that she would be the first woman that moved to the presidency thru succession - but that she would be a totally unqualifed vice-president that moved to that position. sort of like a female Dan Quayle. hopefully people won't see her as the Gena Davis character in "Commander in Chief" (who had a lot more qualifications when she was elected VP)
  8. this WILL become part of my student prep! thanks
  9. self-esteem - IN CHINA?? that's not their job, their job is to do what their glorious leaders want them to do. self-esteem tends to lead to feelings of self worth which tends to lead to feelings of individualism which leads to feelings of havings rights and freedoms - and then the whole system would come crashing down like it did in Russia. can't have that now, can we....
  10. his rig has really been around - hanging from power poles, skimming across the water, who know where else. Let's just hope that he remembers how to use it.

  12. SDH doesn't require any tandems like spaceland does. but if you want to do one, we will happily teach you to pull the ripcord and how to do turns. 1st jump course + jump $295 (2 instructors) AFF 2-3 $185 each (2 instructors) AFF 4-7 $145 each (1 instructor) if you flunk any AFF level you repeat it and pay for it. level 8 - 18 you go with a coach $85 each level 19-25 allowed to go solo $40 each after 25 jumps you can get your A-license then jumps are only $22 (until prices go up due to fuel costs) you are still considered a student at most drop zones until you get your A-license.

  17. I had always covered the bottoms with ShoeGoo. That lasted a long time - but they still wear down. Unfortunately I didn't recover them with Goo and they wore thru. Then new ones she put on for me will get a nice thick coat this evening.
  18. not to minimize it - but she just replaced bottom part that your toes go into. but to me - that is the whole bootie. If you can't stick the appendage in for a nice tight fit - what good is it. Still talking about booties?? oh yeah - I did find a site that charges $50 bucks. She said that it took her about 3 hours. thank ya all for the info.
  19. a lady I work with just repaired my jumpsuit booties for me. She completely replaced the bottom part and they look almost better than new. If anyone out there has had bootie repairs done - what did you pay for it. I want to give her a fair price for what she did.
