Sorry you're out of luck From the BPA ops manual, section 6 http://www.bpa.org.uk/opman.htm All UK DZs have to belong to the BPA and run in accordance to the ops manual. D

How long does it take from ordering to have it opened?
-
No problem deploying at the top in the UK, just dont do it in october

Actually that’s going to be happening in the next Parliament. It's also heavily linked to many of our violent crime problems as I'm sure Skyrad can testify - it's all the drunken louts who are kicked out of the clubs that end up beating each other up... drinking habits change when there's no closing time. Took their time though didn't they. I'm sure it was in the 1997 manifesto and here we are - it might happen next year!

Where to skydive over Christmas?
Dazzle replied to GeordieSkydiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You're planning 500 jumps over the christmas boogie????? -
I had a similar experience to you (no slammers but lots of off headings) Seemed to be opening nice usually and then at the end would throw me around, not usually enough to twist the lines but I'd get turned 180 or occasionally 360. Other times it felt like I had twists as soon as it came off my back (can't describe the feeling, I've tried, even just after it happened) Recently I've started to get better ones / learnt how to control it. I now find myself feeling the movements coming through the harness and really trying to counter the force and then watching for it to go the other way. When I first started doing that it seemed like I would have to do so several times during opening. Now I seem to find myself expecting it and being suprised by it going ok, maybe I'm reading it easier and reacting better but the last 20 or so have been better. Still get the odd one though I've got about 80 on mine now, 107 @ 1.7

I remember this happening and the thought about the spin slowing him down but never heard it confirmed. Anyone have any more info on this one?

I was under the impression that a J1 took a 150 and would therefore assume a J2 would take a 170. My old J1 took a stiletto 150 fine and before that a merit (semi zp) 170 fine as well.

So what is the record for number of jumps on a canopy? I heard a story about a canopy ?Sabre? with ?8000? odd jumps on the originl lines. Was used as demo kit somewhere and keeped getting loaned out for years. Anyone else heard this one?

I jumped a Stiletto with 4000 jumps on it earlier this year, flew really nice and packed up so easy!

:15:1 First helicopter jump and a whole bunch of 50 way sequential jumps

My post wasn't directed to what to do about these people in particular more about the feeling that we should do something irrespective of whether the people we wipe out actually are guilty of anything. I would suggest that an innocent iraqi (by whom I mean someone who has been mistakenly identified rather than anyone involved with this) who was killed to have as many rights (if not nore) than someone who has gone to that country. An innocent iraqi humanely killed is just as dead as an innocent foreigner killed by the terrorists. If you don't think "wiping off the face of the earth" (the simplistic comment that caused me to respond) equates you as terrorist then we disagree (not equal I'll agree but not so far apart.) In interregation people quite often break down and tell you what you want to hear. It has happened many times in police questioning and lead to miscarriages of justice. I have no idea of what should be done but America, in it's current war mentality, scares me.

Good intel coupled with highly trained Special Ops who understand and are capable of precise and discriminating warfare. We have the tools. How many failures of this intel would you be willing to accept leading to the "wiping off the face of the earth" people who were not guilty? Equally since when was it acceptable to have judge, jury and execution without any sort of defence. It wouldn't take many innocents to be missidentified and killed before you'd be worse than the terrorists. Courts and juries developed to protect rights of those who are innocent until their guilt is proven. Evidence shown in public rather than acquired and acted on in secret. Interegation / confessions have always been a bad way to get intelligence anyhow. Look how many miscarriages of justices have occurred in the past (I'm thinking of the UK dealing with the IRA here in another "war on terrorism") Fortunately for some of those we didn't have a death penalty, Guildford 4 anyone!

Aerodyne looking for Opinions: What are the best dive loops.
Dazzle replied to aubsmell's topic in Gear and Rigging
Another vote for the wings loops, preferred them to the Icon ones and they're the only containers I've jumped recently. On a fairly new Icon I found I spent ages trying to open the loops (another person demoing the container thought so as well). The wings just seem to be there when you want them. What would be nice is some sort of loop / block on the rear risers. The Katana is so floaty on rear risers I spend quite a lot of time in them getting back from spots. At the mo I've got a finger up in the lines but thats not comfortable, a block or loop might work better. -

Popped in there a few weeks ago and they did a pretty good job. I was on a lift within 10 mins of getting there, got down and was on a 20 min call for the next. Not really enough people to fill a Let so they sent it anyway
-
Have a hunt around - pd don't know all the demo dealers. I was trying to get a demo katana and pd only knew of one dealer in the uk with demos and they didn't have the size I wanted. A search around on the net found a dutch dealer who did and was willing to send it to the uk (thanks parachutecase!) As others have said Stiletto 120s aren't that hard to come across!
-
could probably have used it for boogie 2, rather than the 2 caravans, let, skyvan and dornier (and helicopter) that will be there. Not too shabby for the UK!

You'd think they definately would have the AN72 next year with it being an off year for the herc. Apparently they decided to get it in this year as they did so well last year they could cope with a clash with Herc this year. We'll find out very soon! Apparently there is an AN72 working for hire in the UK at the moment, I wonder what the cost / requirements to get that in somewhere would be?

Any tips on packing a brand new Sabre 2?
Dazzle replied to darrenspooner's topic in Gear and Rigging
I remember talking to my stiletto after a few jumps and pointing out to it that it wasn't having any twists or other nasties put into it and it listened and started behaving! -
Knowing your new canopy is in the country but not being able to get it for a nice weekend!
