  1. well, the 25th finally came. as soon as i finished ground school we were loaded up and ready to jump. the whole experience was amazing. i dont really remember my freefall, i was to busy going through my procedures. but once i was under a good canopy it was quiet and peaceful. I landed on 2 feet about 25 yards from the bullseye. my instructor said it was a great landing, which made me feel good. jump 2 6am tomorrow cant f&*^en wait.
  2. congrats, i cant wait until i start my aff next week
  3. dont worry bro, i have been an atheist my entire life. i have served in the military, i have done good and i have done bad things . i never needed a book to tell me how things should work. god, karma, all that crap means nothing. all that matters is what you feel is right and wrong. my family is catholic. most of my friends are religious. when the conversation comes up i just choose not to get into it. a book or a god does not make me believe stealing is wrong and helping a lady cross the street is right. that my friend is common sense. in the end we will all be fossil fuel to help power everyone to live and drive their cars. oh and by the way i have no jumps yet and that has no bearing on anything. to each their own.
  4. I feel extra proud being an american after reading the generosity of a few of these post. I too am a Veteran and it makes me feel great to see others give the respect deserved for our prior military members. it not just about the volunteering of ones time its the general concern for the original poster's safety. I applaud all of you. I Begin my AFF aug 25th, cant wait to fly
  5. Their is clearly somthing wrong with your instruction if u are asking these questions. I doubt u have any jumps yet or even talk to an intructor. That's ok you don't need jumps to talk on these forums.
  6. i have a few jump 10 years ago and i loved it but didn't have time to pursue it . like i said before it would just be a part time gig. i have a lot of time on my hands. but hey thx for the encouragement.
  7. yes career path. if it worked for me it would be a part time path. but for others, too each their own.
  8. Hey guys I have some good news. I just talked to some one who is putting together a complete skydiving education curriculum to have a career in skydiving. He is almost complete and has put a lot of work into it. He has been in contact with the VA to assure is he following the correct procedure. Now does mean it will work, well that's yet to be seen. But the ball is rolling, which is great news for any veteran that would like this career path. No time frame right now but like I said in my earlier post it might benefit a veteran in a few years. So thank you Rob for all your hard work.
  9. Thx for the info guy's. Maybe in a few years some one else will be able to get lucky.
  10. did you ever have any luck with the gi bill and skydiving
  11. Hey guy's here my situation I have 2 years left to use my military GI bill benefits. i'm trying to find out if i can use my benefits for a skydiving education, it would pay me 1000 to 1300 a month. is that enough and is it even possible to become an AFF instructor from scratch, going through all the licenses requirments in 24 months. i'm a firefighter now and only work 10 day's a month so i have plenty of time though out the week to jump. I just cant think of a better part time job. thx guy's. any info would help.
  12. thx for the greetings guys. i'll keep you posted on my progress
  13. Hello divers, I am starting my aff in Vegas on the 25th. I just wanted to introduce myself and maybe get some noob advice. I know what it's like being the new guy from my military experiences and now from being a firefighter. I've read about half the sim manual and had 6 minutes of tunnel time. I can't get my mind if this. I'm like a sponge and always keep my mouth shut so I can learn.
