It's a tree.....trees fall down, break limbs, burn, etc....The real star was the wall...how's the wall ?..... Life is short ... jump often.

Then she'd get fired for going over her first bosses head ( and embarrassing the person, for not knowing how to treat customers ). Life is short ... jump often.

Call them one more time and tell them they have been sold......for the price of the re-packs.......so they don't owe you anything...... Life is short ... jump often.

How about the stepping into the propeller sign.....we've all seen that one....you'd think that one is pretty obvious.....but apparently not. Life is short ... jump often.

There was the couple who bought the motor home. This is a true story by the way. They set off on their trip...the wife was driving...once they were on the freeway, she slapped on the cruise control and headed to the back to help her husband make dinner.................The motor home crashed of course, destroying it. They lived, and sued for a couple million dollars....and won.....You see, no one had mentioned in the owner's manual that "cruise contro"l is not an "auto pilot device". Now it is clearly stated in the owner's manual....... Life is short ... jump often.

New jumper, still pretty fearful after 18 jumps
jumpsalot-2 replied to souleil's topic in Introductions and Greets
In the wind tunnel, did you use their instructor, or was it the same thing...your husband insisting on training you ? You should break that pattern somehow. As far as the Skyvan is concerned, just dive out the back, put your belly into the relative wind and fly off the hill, if it's a fun jump. Life is short ... jump often. -
New jumper, still pretty fearful after 18 jumps
jumpsalot-2 replied to souleil's topic in Introductions and Greets
If you have a couple extra bucks, you can BOTH go to a wind tunnel ( mostly for you ). You MUST use their instructors. Then you can learn the proper techniques without offending him. Then take those techniques into your skydiving.... Life is short ... jump often. -
fullerton california, police murder homeless man
jumpsalot-2 replied to shermanator's topic in Speakers Corner
You can't see anything in the video. The question is what did this guy do to have five cars after him ? Also, when a cop says lay belly down and put your hands behind your back....you do it right then. If you want to fight back, good for you and you get what you deserve. Life is short ... jump often. -
Knowing your exit weight is the first thing. That is how much you weight with all your gear on ( your weight plus about 25-30 pounds ). Find a conopy and reserve around that number or bigger for now ( or what your instructor suggests ). Then find a container that holds the two canopies comfortably, and fits your body. Stay away from round reserves, some DZ's will not let you use them. Stay away from containers that only take round reserves. Reserves also have a limit on how many times they can be packed and must be re-certified. The newer the reserve, the better ( 10 years or newer ). Life is short ... jump often.

Jumping a Strato Flyer - Hints please..

I've heard many quotes of naked weight on this thread, but you have not commented on your naked weight. What is it ? Life is short ... jump often. -
I took Jan Meyer up Mt. Evans (14,265) when she stayed for a few days visit after the BOD meeting in Denver a few weeks ago also, if that counts as a "summit," considering you can drive up to within a few hundred feet of it. She thought it was, considering where she came up from anyway. Quote I think the only way I'd be able to climb to 14,000 ft. would be to drive most of the way up too.....How'd the vehicle do at that altitude ?...... . Life is short ... jump often.

Paraplegic Friend...place in Norcal to jump?
jumpsalot-2 replied to jesterlover16's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
No worries Jesterlover, you didn't cause a problem....you might consider calling or emailing the USPA "Pacific" Regional Director for advice. The number is in Parachutist Magazine under Directors, or on the USPA website....... -
Replica of Wright brothers 1910 plane crashes in Ohio, killing 2
jumpsalot-2 replied to JerryBaumchen's topic in The Bonfire
Sounds like powered flight to me......got off the ground using a mechanical device, and moved 100 ft.......By the way, Lyman Gilmore never claimed first powered flight. I don't think he cared. According to records, he flew a mile. History claiming the Wright Bros. were first is just wrong. Life is short ... jump often. -
That's high enough to give your lungs a workout for sure. Life is short ... jump often.

Paraplegic Friend...place in Norcal to jump?
jumpsalot-2 replied to jesterlover16's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
Yea, Lodi does get a reputation from people who have never been there, but insist on giving it a bad name. It is full of world champion skydivers though, who jump there because they know better. That is not addressed to you of course, more towards the PM'ers . Good luck in your search. Drop by sometime to see how a world class drop zone is run. Life is short ... jump often. -
What's the altitude there ? Life is short ... jump often.

It's just the way they did it when I learnded at Davis CA. You took the full course all at once, then we all had to go to a pool and jump in with a trashed rig with a reserve in it to weigh you down. The instructor with assistance then placed a full size canopy over you. after removing the container You had to come out of the water under the canopy with your hand extended upward, to clear an airpocket, get some air in you lungs, then get out from under the canopy. At that time I had 17 jumps and they said it was past time that I learn. Different places do different things. Life is short ... jump often.

Replica of Wright brothers 1910 plane crashes in Ohio, killing 2
jumpsalot-2 replied to JerryBaumchen's topic in The Bonfire
I'd like to throw this into the pot. Not everyone knows about Lyman Gilmore of Grass Valley CA. I live in Grass Valley, and have met a very old timer lady who knew the man. His first powered plane flew in 1902. His airport opened in 1908. Grass Valley had no large publicity news crew working to tell the world about it. Gold was the word around here. First in powered flight.........http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyman_Gilmore......It's not a secret, it's just history. The Wright Brothers were not the first in powered flight, and apparently, their plane design sucked anyway. Life is short ... jump often. -
A rare one starring Clooney......."Up in the Air"....just another movie, but good. Life is short ... jump often.
