  1. Balloon i jumped out of today was @ 4000 when the first 3 way when out, 5000, when i exited shortly after....so what your saying has me confused.
  2. As Paul stated, luck has helped more then the TSA has. Christmas Bomber, Shoe Bomber. Those are just off the top of my head. The TSA highers people that are barely a step up from Security Guards at your local dollar store. They are not trained properly and are unprofessional. They do nothing that actually keeps us safe. IT is a dog an pony show. PERIOD. Makes some people feel safe and that is about it. They react to threats instead of preventing them. YOu say that the majority of American are for these new procedures. Show me your proof that the majority of people are in favor. More like the majority of American are to passive to do anything about it. That is not the same was being in favor of something. AS far as being touched by a screener goes. They are doing more then touching people. http://gizmodo.com/5692583/woman-suing-federal-government-after-tsa-screener-exposed-her-breasts-to-entire-airport They also keep the images that they say they are deleting. DO you work for the TSA? its a good dog an pony show. before that, i wouldnt have any problem of taping a bag of weed to my nut sack and going through a check point. Now i think differntly because of what is in place. same mentalitly goes for those who want to do harm. i would have no problem having that image of me broadcast on national televesion. have you seen the images? nothing pornographic whatsoever. do you think any one could get turned on by this? or have any interest in looking at it. you cant even make out what the person looks like. As far as the touching goes, just try to enjoy it!!! when i go through tampa airport tommorow, if i get pulled aside, im gonna think of a very hot naked girl and try to arouse myself, free handjobs!!!
  3. Oh no. You have that quite wrong. That's due to my lucky rabbit's foot. Since I got it, there have been no successful attacks, therefore it MUST be working. right.....your statment is proof your logic is non existent.
  4. Has it? Can you link news stories where the TSA have captured terrorist that were about to board an airplane that supports your claim? my evidence is no succesful attacks since 9/11 on US jetliners. you guys want to take away security measures that keep us safe. stop being little bitches about getting touched by a screener. you dont cry about having your doctor touch you. why? b/c hes a profssional doing a job. so are the TSA. seriously if it is just so bad, then dont fucking fly. I LIKE THESE SAFTEY REGUALATIONS AND SO DO THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS, you are in the minority. we dont need another multi billion whole in the ground with 4000+ lost souls. oh you expect the media to relay positive stories about the TSA?http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/12hours_tampa.shtm
  5. TSA has done a damm good job keeping us safe since 9/11. if you dont like it, drive a car. your asking for another attack.
  6. ha, we have a jumper at my DZ we call "columbine" b/c hes one of those dark characters that always wears a trench coat. and he jumps this same colored canopy.
  7. i simply wanted to know the differences between the 2 safires. i take my advice from the appropriate people at my dz. not on this forum. thanks to those who answered my question.
  8. i appreciate the concern, and advice. but everyone did say the 149 was a high performance canopy, and i certrainly do not feel that it is. i think under a higher loading, i wont be expeiriening as many end cell collapses as i have been getting. this was also the opinion of another AFFI.
  9. I can recall myself waiting in line at midnight for MW2 to come out. I def consider it a low point in my life. im gonna hold off a bit before picking this up. no time to play between working and jumping.
  10. Im about to get downsize canopies. I currently fly a safire 2 149 @1.0. I found a nice Safire 1 129 @1.16 that im interested in buying. Now coming from the Safire 2, will i be dissappointed with anything? is there a noticable difference?
  11. only reason i ask is because this one rigger was basically devalueing my canopy because it was from spain. and said there not as good. kinda pissed me off.
  12. is there a price difference? can you still buy a canopy from spain and NZ?
  13. i dont disagree, but i thought the tunnel was ideal for finding that straight down belly position.
  14. Can tunnel time count as freefall time? i kinda think it should. Or perhaps have it count in some sort of way towards that.
  15. How do you think that will help you? Do you think they'll track around you or also pull high? getting back to the topic at hand...it will help me get back to the spot im trying to reach. and it certainly is not uncommon for the people i jump with to pull higher if we notice were in a bad spot.
  16. packing for yourself starts to become your gear check. but I still ask for a check every now and then,
  17. or cutaway from a perfectly good canopy......its been done.
  18. yeah its a good opinion though. What if there are folks above you? every jump is different, sometimes that can be an issue, other times it wont be. i like to make it part of my plan and let other jumpers on the load know so we can all plan accordingly. Also if i pull at 4, i would hope any other jumper in the area has already gone into a track and they are observing thier surroundings before they pull.
  19. +1 on that. I was jumpin one day, and when i landed (a nice stand up, as they all are) , another jumper (sub 200) came over and tried to tell me what i was doing wrong on my landing. Really a buzzkill after a nice jump. to the OP. giving advice to someone and having it pay off for them can be a rewarding feeeling.but you shouldnt be giving it to other skydivers with more jumps then you. You got to remember most skydivers have delicate egos. the best way to do this is go after your coach rating and help students.
  20. try going to www.howstuffworks.com and take thier skydiving quiz. it obviously wasnt made my one. On a side note, can someone thing of a new term for wuffo, its pretty weak.
  21. Pull higher. Im not sure why you landed off on that load. I exited after you and saw your canopy in the corn field as i was starting my base leg. it really is a good habit to pull abover 4k. most people like to suck it down to 3. Most of the time im last on the ground, i have plenty of space to fly my canopy and not be restricted in heavy traffic.
  22. What is it that makes it so much more challenging? That should be easy to explain. Sparky Well first off it is more dangerous, and when things are more dangerous it presents more of a challenge to make it safe. Its more dangerous because of the speed. Body positons has to be more finely tuned, one wrong move and you cork or into somebody can easily knocked someone out. It also take more time to learn to fly sit and head down, belly is just a very natural feeling. Heres a scenario, take 8 skydivers. 6 d-licensed and 2 new a license. For them to build an 8 way formation is not gonna be to difficult. For them to build an 8 way head down formation, thats not gonna happen.
  23. You have 75+ jumps, you haven’t gotten in too much but you already know it’s not much of a challenge. Maybe you could explain just what it is that makes VSD/free flying so much more challenging than belly flying. It there some magical thing you do to move your body around? The only thing I have ever noticed as being different is the jumper’s orientation to the relative wind. Sparky I have just about 3 hours of freefall time if you include tunnel just passed 100 jumps this weekend (ill wait for the sarcastic "oh 100 jumps, excuse me!!) this has been over the last 5 months. And as for a challenge, i havent found it to be to challenging, thats just me, it doesnt mean others dont. I credit this alot to the tunnel. Theres alot of things that make freeflying more challenging then belly, i didnt think that was even debatable.
