  1. Thanks, I like this idea, can you recommend a place to buy these from? and size i should get? is it something i can get at a local fabric store?
  2. I need a weight belt. There is a couple available at my local gear store with out weights. I picked up a 25lb bag of shotgun lead, as this seemed a lot cheaper then paying for weights from a skydive store. I just need something to package it with, within the belt itself. Also are the weight belts typically used by RW flyers suitable to carry 25lbs? maybe i need 2? Thanks for the help.
  3. Ive purchased 2 canopies from complete strangers living in Sweden and Spain. No inspection, just trust and paypal. For the most part, most of the skydiving community is pretty honest. Each of the canopies i bought were exactly as described. I usually will look at their profile on here and see if they have been on here for over a year, and i get them on the phone or skype and see what kind of vibe i get from them.
  4. My conclusion after 150 jumps on it, is that it is worth it. I dont use a packer, and if i did, i would stow the brakes and re connect the slider before i gave it to them.
  5. Just for clarity, can a B licensed jumper with 500 jumps jump here? or do you have to have a C?
  6. What are your safety concerns for down wind? I think there is always a way to set your self up safely (i.e solo pass)
  7. How come landing down wind is not in any of your recommendations?
  8. You may not need to buy a tent. Theres likely a bunch at the DZ. I gave my tent to the nice lady who let me use her air mattress. Just ask around when you get there.
  9. I was not sure what to do, so I didn't wanna be an asshole and not follow suit, but being that I was in the Army as well, and even though I only did a three year term, I still have that level of respect for anyone who is in the military and especially the one who gave their life for us! I remember when i went to see the movie Flags of our Fathers, there was a bunch of Marines in uniform cammies. Im pretty sure they were all fresh out of boot camp and with their recruiter. So mostly its a way for the recruiters to get to talk to more people. Just the way i see it.
  10. Seems like a nice patriotic moment. Now having said that......I think those types of honors should be reserved for actual people who died, and not for a fictional movie.
  11. Check out Icarus Crossfire2, that should keep you pretty happy.
  12. Ive had two custom rigs with the pvc. Its become my preference. Others always seem to have a comment for it, mostly that it doesnt look as cool as a hackey.
  13. I have a 4 eyed bag as well. I use all tube stows. The first 3 for the locking stows are the larger ones and the fourth, is a small tube stow, as well as the rest of stows on the bag. By the time i get to my 4th locking stow, its past where the lines cascade, so the smaller tube stow there gives it better tension. When i had a large tube stow there, it was lacking proper tension.
  14. I know someone who had just bought 2 new Velos. They both have snaps on them. Non comp.
  15. Yes it is the inverted suit. I have not seen the pocket either, nor did i see the option on the order form, but he told me they did make them for the suits.
  16. So i ordered a new Vertical suit. On the suit i got the bungee pocket for my removable slider. My question, will this pocket make the suit not suitable for the tunnel, or will it not make a big difference?
  17. I'm not sure what the winds were doing that day, but it looks like very poor separation time was given on exit. That or someone tracked up jump run.
  18. If you're set on Wings, Do me (and yourself) one favor. Do not get the Cut In Lateral option on a wings. It will nearly guarentee a fit problem if you do anything but fly belly to earth. That is one option that should not be available to anyone with curves or is tiny. Even average sized folks have fit issues with the cut ins. Out of the choices you listed, I would prefer the Mirage. But if you get a screaming deal on the wings, it's hard to pass up. Just don't get the cut in laterals. (notice the trend about cut in laterals starting?) My preferred rig is an Infinity by the way. ....... no cut in laterals..... Good luck! Ive had cut in laterals on both of my wings rigs. Never had any fit issue. The good thing about dealing with Wings is their customer service. So if there was a fit problem, they would promptly take care of it. Get the wings!
  19. I see a big difference between the videos. This was somewhat tame. That jumper was not being spun on his back. The only time he was on his back was after he started the untwisting rotation. Look at the horizons in each video, that will give you a better indication of the speed of the rotation.
  20. Both of those videos are high speed diving line twists on fully elliptical canopies loaded over 1.6 It's a lot different then just line twists. People have died trying to fight these for to long. The longer you fight it, the faster it will spin up and can exert enough G forces that can prevent you from being able to pull your cut away. You have a reserve for a reason
  21. CPI is open year round. It's a 2 hour dr to Ellington, Ct from Boston. The Otter is gone for the season, but we got 2 182s
  22. I did not look at mine when i had a mal...though i pulled at 5k and knew i had some time.
  23. what kind of problems with the 3 ring are you talking about? like the 3 ring getting deformed with that much force? And what about the cable?
