Yeah. He had his back turned to me on the ride so it did not register for a few min. Pretty awesome to see a familiar face. Brad and Mel were in for the record. LOL...I need a lot of tunnel time and coaching before I will say that I'm really head down...it's ugly. Very cool. Looking forward to seeing you and the Mrs.

:5:0 Interesting weekend with some interesting jumps.

"We were on a break!!" needs to be added as a poll option.

Yup.

Go sluff of a couple of electrons then. I think he was making a reference to those adult film days.

Or another way of passing off debts to our descendents? Not so much. Inflation can be a debt killer. Lets say you owe $100K on your mortgage and you make $40K/yr. Inflation comes along (more money chasing same amount of goods and services) and wages tend to rise....debt can be retired sooner. The move is mostly to spur our exports and this is why other countries are pissed. It forces them to make similar moves...which could cause a viscious cycle resulting in hyper inflation. The Germans have a had a taste of hyper inflation and they are one of the most vocal opponents of this move. Problem with increasing wages is it comes hand in hand with increasing prices. Might be great for debt but it takes the wind out of your paycheck. And the price increases always precede the advancing wages. I saw this move as a way to force people off their safe investments and into something a bit riskier by forcing the interest rate down. Agreed. The destruction of the debt is not without a lot of pain. But, as you noted as well it does not seem to be the motivation nor the move to really trigger that kind of inflation. I can see the motivation to get capital moving into small and mid-size companies (the ones that do the hiring), but a lot of the startup companies that the govt has been trying to get the money to don't tend to last. It seems to me that the main driver is to weaken the dollar so that our exports (in established industries) can compete (in the short term) and the administration can then throw up some nice numbers come election time. NOTE: The last statement could seem a bit political, but I have no affiliations. The FED has been used as a political tool since it's inception.

The issue boils down to security vs. privacy/liberty. The issue boils down to the illusion of security and more budget/money for certain government agencies/private companies vs. privacy/liberty. Quote Yeah...Well, I don't want to be called un-american for making statements like that.

If these security measures are to keep use safe from terrorists, when will we be safe? Let's say the terrorists adapt their techniques (they will) and are still able to get devices on planes..... Perhaps we should all be wired up on flights to detect heart rate, breathing, etc. We should also be under constant video survelience on the flight and wear stun belts...that way if it looks like someone might act in a threatening manner they can be temporarily disabled (in less than letal way of course). I think the irational fear is efforts designed to deliver "peace and security" we will find our selves striped of privacy, liberty and other valuable freedoms....and still have no peace and security. BUT...I agree. Most men are just affraid that the world will find out they are not hung nearly as large as they say they are online.

The issue boils down to security vs. privacy/liberty. A TSA official recently said as much. I think a number of people feel that they are being asked to give up more and more privacy/liberty and they do not feel the amount of security provided justifies the lost privacy/liberty.

I resent you and your seemingly perfectly positive life.

Can't speak for the OP, but you are annoying the piss out of me.

Dude. I'm living in a tent on a DZ and then commuting 1.5 hrs each way..in a crap 1987 mercury villager van that I downgraded to in order to buy gear... to my job at a large bank to work in a box 5 days a week, 10 hours a day doing mortgages. Seriously...life can suck hard sometimes. I'm going to take a day off tomorrow and jump with some friends and the thought puts my mind at ease.

Got my A after an embaressingly long time
ManagingPrime replied to RUN_FMX's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I did the same thing. In retrospect It probably cost me more to get my A that way, but no regrets. Before I got my A I realized the importance of coaches and jumping with others. In the end it's all good, it's about the journey not the destination. Congrats on the A!! -
Wow...This guy was a really smooth talker, huh? Being around SD I'm surprised your not more impervious. Don't take it too hard...could be worse. You could be jaded and unreceptive when a good guy does come around. For the poll. Next day.

Cinematic classics!!!

That angle did not really occur to me... humm...custom canopy might be on hold for a while.

Good advice. I'll follow it.

Why so often is BASE a Link on these forums? I thought the link was going to go to what you were talking about, I am pretty sure everyone here knows what "BASE" is....why always links? Other sites in our network: BASE Jumping | Rock Climbing SEO $$$

Joe MTV likes it dangerous...Joe MTV thinks they are crazy living on the edge jumping out of planes.
-
Bit mixed on my feelings on the subject, but I think the expo$$ure is a good thing. Will bring more people into the sport and more ca$h...that's a good thing. Hopefully the more experienced in the sport will explain to said MTV generation that pitching on your back(?) straped to a bike is not the best thing to do...unless you have 200 jumps of course.

You dlon't care what kind of canopy? Sparky At this point I've jumped the Sabre 2, Safire 2 and pilot. The difference that i've noticed (keep my experience in mind) have been very minimal...with the exception of where the flare was at on the Safire. They all seem safe...they all seem to open about the same...and no one is pushing me towards any particular canopy. I'm kind of leaning towards a sabre. Honestly, I'll probably outgrow the canopy before I'm at an experience level where I could say "this canopy is better than that one for X and Y reasons". Hence, price is more of a determining factor. I will talk with a local dealer, but based on some of the feedback I'm getting I think a custom canopy will not make much financial sense at this point.
