  1. Ryan PT-22 with a five-cylinder Kinner. HW
  2. In addition, the Cherokee Six absolutely falls out of the sky if you have floaters outside. And it's likely that a floater will put a foot on the flap. That said, I've seen pictures of a DZ in Europe using a Cherokee Six with an external jump step. HW
  3. Bob Sinclair it is. Picture from August, 1982 Parachutist. "...shown here doing a plane-to-plane transfer (while wearing a concealed parachute) for a TV commercial." HW
  4. So far, everyone is wrong. Well-known old-time jumper, still jumping. HW
  5. Jumptown, in Orange, MA is about 70 miles from you (assuming you're in Springfield, VT) -- straight shot down I-91 to Rt. 2 east. Open Thurs-Sunday. Twin Otter and Cessna. Great instructors and student gear and cool people. Come play. HW
  6. Nothing to do with the question but... I can't remember the last time I saw anyone wearing a Pioneer double-zipper jumpsuit. HW
  7. Richard "Jesse" James (D-794), who died last year, was the long-time DZO pf the drop zone at Turners Falls, MA from the early 60s to maybe as late as the early 70s. "Happyarm" is Vince Marchese, with whom I made many jumps. His PC pix are mostly at Orange, MA, including the first two in your album; I don't think he jumped at Turners Falls. HW
  8. ++ for JAlbum. You can select from among a bunch of pretty cool "skins" for your album, and can either upload the HTML to your own server or post stuff on Jalbum.net itself. And it's free (though they happily accept donations.) HW
  9. I don't think he has one, but if you Google "Sutton flowform," you'll find a bunch. Also search "Steve Sutton" here on dz.com and you'll find other references. HW
  10. Here's another one I especially like. Sample advice: or The web is a wondrous place. HW
  11. Add Loy Brydon to the list; the sub-100 attendees are: Lew Sanborn - D-1 Loy Brydon - D-12 Jerry Bourquin -D-22 Bill Jolly - D-26 Paul Poppenhager - D-45 Nate Pond - D-69 Coy McDonald - D-70 Bill McCarthy - D-83 And possibly D-16 and D-50. HW
  12. Buzzle is just another of the many web sites where people sign up to become "experts" on a subject, presumably with the intention of somehow getting rewarded for their expertise. Nothing really wrong with the article, but it's clearly written by someone who just browsed the web, assembled bits and pieces of info, and pronounced himself an expert. Some of these "expert" sites produce really funny (unintentionally) stories. Check out this page. A sample from it: HW
  13. Ever tried a wireless mic on a freefall subject? HW
  14. But you didn't tell us how the sound was. HW
  15. Hmm, the Skydive Philadelphia web site has a page dedicated to "Cary Quattrocchi's Daughter Juliana." Why does that name ring a bell? HW
  16. Good memory. Skies Call 2. Tied down, sunrise or sunset -- hard to tell. HW
  17. I believe, on further examination, that you're right. Too big for a Beaver. HW
  18. A couple of screen grabs from a 1968 movie, showing Golden Knights getting ready for a demo at the Orange, MA, parachute center. HW
  19. I recently got one for $89 here. They're local to me and I've done business with them before. HW
  20. Excellent. According to my notes, it's a Flow-Form 288. I think people would be interested in some of the design thinking -- why the holes in the bottom surface, why the bump in the top surface, etc. The back slot sort of reminds me of a Sled. HW
