  1. Well apparently he didn't do a good enough job convincing daddy that his book was bad because the Bible is still printed with both the Old and the New Testaments. \ You can get the new testament by itself at most book stores, and Jesus' words are usually highlighted. Blue skies, Keith Medlock

Lyle Cameron is credited with the word in the manner described a couple posts up. Interestingly, he was one of the freefall photographers for the series "Ripcord", so maybe thats what you were thinking of... Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  3. I looked up the passage in the New International Version and found this 6If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. Just looks like some vague metaphor to me... Not sure how you interpreted it as you did. Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  4. Lol, I know. I've never been religious, but have studied Christianity out of curiosity. It's my understanding that when Jesus came around (new testament), he threw out the old testament crap and wanted his teaching to take its place, so all that old testament stuff you quoted doesn't apply to contemporary Christians. I was specificly refering to the words of Jesus Christ. Can you quote me some fucked up things he said? (not being patronizing. I am sincerely curious if any one has examples of Jesus contradictions, bad teachings, etc...) Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  5. wouldn't you skin and properly prepare it before marinating it. If you're going to eat a cat, at least have the decency to kill it quickly and not torture it. Blue skies, Keith Medlock

From "Birdmen, Batmen, and Skyflyers by Michael Abrams" "On one jump, Cameron wound up landing in a farmer's field. The farmer happened to be out farming and came over to see if Cameron was all right. He asked if the plane Cameron had left had been on fire. When Cameron answered in the negative, the farmer asked (scratching his head in befuddlement, to be sure), 'Whuffo you jump?' Whuffo immediately became the word for non-skydivers, thanks partly to Cameron's powers of dissemination as editor of Sky Diver, but also because such a word was sorely needed." 7. Wow, you are a passionate person. I would love to defend my position as you are, but I just don't feel that strongly about it. All of what you say does make perfect sense. Although, if everyone in the world was Christian and lived by the teachings of Jesus Christ, the world would be a much better place. Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  8. Blaming an entire religion on the actions of one person is like blaming the black race for the black guy that shot and killed my friend (didn't actualy happen, just making a point) Statisticly, blacks in America are more violent right? Lets get rid of the black people to eliminate the majority of the crime in the US! People are murdered everyday in Dallas where I live, but strangely, I don't see many suicide bombers among the murderers... FYI, all of my arguments are flawed, as are yours... I forget the name of the skydiver, one of the very early wingsuit jumpers, but he landed off in a farmers field right next to the farmer. After explaining that he had come from an aircraft, the farmer asked if the plane had caught fire. When the skydiver said that it had not caught fire, the farmer asked "Then, whuffo you jump?" Now keep in mind that this sentence was not uttered in english, so I have no idea how it translated like this. Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  10. I'm suggesting that the person is bad, not the religion. Religion doesn't attack people. The people do that. The same person that becomes a suicide bomber, would likely be a danger some other way in the absence of that religion because he's fucked up to begin with. Maybe instead of being a suicide bomber, he would become the pawn of some woman who uses the weak minded individual to knock off her husband for the insurance money... Even without religion, you would still have the same number of bad people, and you would have to find something else to blame their behavior on. Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  11. In her radio show, Dr Laura Schlesinger said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura, written by a US man, and posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative: Dear Dr. Laura: Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination ... End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them. 1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? 2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? 3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. 4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? 5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it? 6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination? 7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here? 8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die? 9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? 10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14) I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I'm confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging. Your adoring fan. James M. Kauffman, Ed.D. Professor Emeritus, Dept. Of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education University of Virginia PS (It would be a damn shame if we couldn't own a Canadian) Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  12. Bolas, I'm agnostic and of your thinking as well, but religion doesn't kill people. Bad people kill people. What I was refering to was athiests who claim that just because religion is irrational and make-believe, that it has no value. My sister's religious, has one biological child, one Ethiopian adopted child, and is leaving for Etheopia next summer to do missionary work. While the teachings of her missionary work may be fairy tales, it makes her happy and she helps rather than hurts others. Who am I to say her beliefs are irrational? Bad people kill people in the name of religion. Or convince others to that wouldn't normally to do it. Your sister could still do those things without religion. The question is would she? The same "power" that turned her/used her to do good is the same one used by all religions to control their people. To me it's the control that is really the scariest part, not the results, although in some cases they can be horrifying. Absolute power corrupts absolutely... Very well said. 14. For those that have experience, how practical would it be for myself, with an established career in an unrelated field, being 29 years old and living in Dallas, to start training and pursue a career as a professional pilot starting from scratch? Meaning, other than skydiving, I have zero aviation experience and expect the end result to pay the bills without supplemental income. Pipe dream or doable? Blue skies, Keith Medlock

  18. Religion is simply an activity that occupies time until you die, giving the religious individual something to do and a sense of purpose in the meantime. But this is not a bad thing. If religious people are happy, then by all means practice your religion. If your religion makes you miserable, then find something else that works for you. Skydiving is the same thing for me. Just something fun to do that fills a void in my life and gives me purpose. That being said, keep this in mind all you atheist skydivers who have ever had a whuffo question your decision to skydive as irrational, stupid, crazy, or whatever. No matter how you explain it, that whuffo isn't going to get it until they jump. The same goes for religious types trying to explain it the the atheist. Even when a whuffo makes a tandem, they still may not like it and call you crazy, just as you may try religion and not like it. Just because religion may seem irrational and you don't like it, doesn't mean it isn't valuable for those that take to it. If you question anothers religion, you're no more understanding than the ignorant whuffo. But for all you bible thumpers that put stuff on my car, preach to me unsolicited, knock on my door, etc... Go fuck yourselves because your god is annoying the shit out of me! Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  19. If this is a true story, then you are a tremendous asshole. First of all, if you spent $120 on a bag of weed that would fit in your BOC, you got ripped off. If you didn't get ripped off, and you could fit the bag in your BOC, then your BOC is waaay too loose. In either case - tremendous asshole. LMAO! You're really showing your age old man! Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  20. Beautiful! You did a really good job on the design. Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  21. So already there's fine print. Just the niche market, and nothing else, even if used for jumping? So if someone has, say, a skater or ski helmet they used for skydiving, no discount? BTW, time was when many many thousands of jumps were made in hockey helmets. I guess no discount for those, either, eh? Fuck me...Dude get an Act.. The man is offering a discount if it's not to your liking piss off and pay full price somewhere else. ETA I jump Cookie helmets, so not kissing up to BH, just responding to Andys shitty attitude. Don't mind him. He's a troll which probably also means he's a damn good lawyer, but only mildly amusing here. Now Sangi on the other hand. He's the skygod of trolls! What say you, Sangi?
