  1. Been with Verizon for 6+ years... ZERO problems in ANY area! Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  2. What the hell! So you just ASSume I'm a conservative skydiver who actually waited 200 jumps to try out a wingsuit like a good little boy?! How dare you! I'm a wild skydiver! I've only got 209 skydives, but I started wingsuit flying on AFF-5! Actually, you're right. I just wanted to see what it was like to be the trolling ass for a second. I've got 4 wingsuit jumps so far (starting with number 1 on jump 205), so I'm very new to this... BUT MY NEW PHANTOM 2 IS ON ORDER!
  3. I always try to carve clouds (its my ABSOLUTE favorite skydiving activity!) and one of two things happen. 1) I never reach the cloud 2) I carve the cloud for a bit getting closer and closer, but at some point I always penetrate some part of the cloud. Is it unusual that even though I don't like being in a cloud I feel compelled to fly as close to it as possible, but then get upset when I end up inside of it?! WTF! Surely I can't be alone. Why aren't more skydivers making a point of this type of activity (other than proximity flyers) I've only attempted this twice with a wingsuit, but many, many times on tracking dives (tracking, I have a fall rate in the upper 70s) Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  4. A tracking suit doesn't restrict your movement like a wingsuit. If anything, I would say it makes the jump safer for an inexperienced skydiver. Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  5. MIRAGE! Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  6. The skyvan will be there all day friday and saturday. I don't know about sunday... Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  7. Two night jumps (including my first)... Two wingsuit jumps (also including my first)... Two hop & pops... Got my C license! Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  8. Hand was it with dawn in warm water rubbing the stained material against itself. You'll be surprised at the stains you can get out like this... Dawn moved, can Sally do it? If Dawn can't do it, then only those named after cars will suffice. i.e. Mercedes, Lexus, etc... Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  9. WTF! Where can I find info on this crash landing? Maybe not a landing, but going in with nothing out and living is amazing! Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  10. Hand was it with dawn in warm water rubbing the stained material against itself. You'll be surprised at the stains you can get out like this... Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  11. Of course! Used gear has already been tested. Practically speaking, new gear is less reliable because it has never been tested. There could be a mfg defect... Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  12. Hey, assholes! You're fucking up my Jeb thread! lol, just messing with you guys... But seriously, it's just a skydiving forum. You two would probably be good buddies at the dz sharing stories over a cold one. Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  13. I like Jeb! Sure he's over the top, but its just marketing for wuffos... Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  14. I can tell you that geting small when flying into the wind helps a lot. As for the other way around, the physics suggest it would work, but I have no personal experience. Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  15. (unless I misunderstood at the time...) That's the stuff that I've used ever since getting a chance to talk to BB. As a relative newbie, I figure I'll listen to my elder's until I have a good reason to do differently. But that's just me. The only caution he gave me was that (at the time) ACE also sold a Silicone Spray Adhesive in a similar can. Make sure you know what you have in your hand! JW I saw this exact can at a local ACE HARDWARE and upon reading the ingredients list on the back of the can it states that it has "Acetone" in it and I put it right back on the shelf! No way was I going to purchase anything that has acetone in it and put it anywhere near my rig! I will be looking and searching for the food grade silicone, perhaps the SCUBA silicone that some have mentioned will do the trick. Just a heads up! Acetone is extremely volatile. Therefore, if you spray it on a rag, and wipe in on the cables, it will have vaporized long before you can even reinstall the cables. Also, acetone doesn't hurt nylon so it's not realy an issue regardless... Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  16. Watching a lot of wingsuit videos, I see you guys turning flying points. Why then aren't there any wingsuit events at nationals. Seems to me it could be done just like 4 way rw with working time, points, etc... You could even have block moves, right? Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  17. No matter what the situation, forget about the cutaway handle in terms of setting your emergency procedures. Not losing that handle should literally be NOWHERE in your mind or thought process in terms of being in an actual emergency, or even when planning for one. If you include it in your planning and practice, there is a chance it will rear it's ugly head during an actual emergency, and that's the last thing you should be concerned about. The cutaway handle is actually the one compoment that you can lose in a cutaway that a rigger can replace for you from stock. The freebag i ssized for the container, the reserve ripcords length is defined by the size of the harness, but any stock cutaway handle can be trimmed to fit your rig. Forget about it. Is your post correct when you say you have a reserve 'pud'? That being a soft reserve handle? If so, you really need to rethink your loigc that the 'reserve is unlikley to be a hard pull'. Without the mechanical advantage of a D-ring or loop you can pu tyour hand through, you're counting on the strength of your hand to connect your hand to the reserve pin. In the event of an inury to your hand/arm (this is an emergency, anything is possible), the pull could become very hard, not due to closing loop tension, but due to your ability to grip the handle. Beyond that, soft handles are more likely to fold under the harness or part of your jumpsuit. I'm going to hazzard a guess that you modified your EP's on your own, after your student training. For the above reasons, I would suggest you reconsider your approach, and stick to the basics. Right on all counts, and thanks for the advice. Given my setup (reserve pud, rsl, aad) what would you suggest for eps? Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  18. "Corliss, 34, is a BASE jumper – the acronym stands for "building, span, antenna, earth"" ROFL! The media could !@#$ up a wet dream... Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  19. I haven't heard any news about Jeb for some time now, and he hasn't been to Skydive Dallas for years! What's he up to these days? Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  20. No, not really, not everyone wants them.. This is the american logic - The bigger - the "better", not the whole worlds.. Bigger doesn't equate to most distance covered and the biggest speed (which imho matters most in wingsuit flying), unless you fly in mega downwind.. There's a reason why most people don't fly mattresses in BASE environment (where you witness TRUE wingsuit flight). Uh-oh, time to stir shit up! Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  21. This is not true. I've seen severe behavioral symptoms of hypoxia on someone with no physical symptoms. Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  22. Keep us posted on your canopy piloting progress and any bumps along the way (if there are any). Best of luck to you. Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  23. Woohoo!! Sabre 2! Yep, I remember when you first got that Sabre 2... Wouldn't shut up about how great it was Blue skies, Keith Medlock
  24. It can and does happen. From what I've head, it usually the result of bad body position (de arching, legs askew) on the student causing the pair to turn. The spinning can increases to the point where the pair is flung apart. LOL, I don't think he was serious... Blue skies, Keith Medlock
