  1. Arch, relax, maintain positive leg pressure, stay altitude aware, and deploy your canopy on time. Have a ball and enjoy the people. They are the most wonderful you will meet in your life. Oh yeah, bring beer. Not kidding. Lots of very cold beer. 8 or 10 cases will get you remembered. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  2. Welcome to skydiving in the modern era. We teach the talk, but don't skydive the walk. It wasn't so long ago that most "in" jumpers on the load wouldn't leave the plane without a second set of eyes giving their gear a once-over. Gear checks can only save lives if you get one. 3. Issuing a 1099 to a contractor or service provider is pretty standard stuff. One would think a receipt for goods purchased would be sufficient. I'd like to hear a CPA's view on the law you are talking about. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  4. I've done business with those folks several times. Always a great experience. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

  6. While speedstar (actually sppeed formation now) is still an event at Nationals, it's been butchered. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  7. Not so sure what odd about that photo. Looks like typical line twists to me. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

  10. I said it LOOKS like a CX100. I didn't say it WAS like a CX100. See Tom? See Tom run? Run Tom, run! Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  11. Interesting. Kinda looks like a CX100 with a handgrip and an interchangable lens. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  12. That's been the problem all along. USPA refuses to be an enforcement agency in all but the most extreme cases, and many DZ's won't police themselves. Watcha gonna do? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  13. Don't BSR's still require radio for students using ram air canopies until cleared to be on their own? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  14. Big difference between a court decision and enforcement. From the same courts that brought the world this http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/crime/british-kissing-couple-loses-jail-appeal-in-dubai-1.607664 As I said before, they're freaks. Hope Craig and Eliana enjoy their new home. No PDA, guys! Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  15. Bill drinks the Kool-Aid. Film at 11. claiming he increase spending 10 fold is about as stupid as saying Pelosi had a 2/3rds majority in 2007. It would be amazing, and rather impossible, for the US government to spend 25-30T in a year. My bad. My 10 fold reference should have been about the deficit. See the link. Of course you libs will just question the source (a source notorious for using the government's own figures) http://blog.heritage.org/2009/03/24/bush-deficit-vs-obama-deficit-in-pictures/ actually, we can just read the source, and again note that you're talking out of your ass with the 10x claim. The 2008 deficit was 400B. 10X that would be 4T. If you want to say he quadrupled the deficit, that would be a factual statement, and others can choose to argue that it was necessary. If you take 2007, the lowest deficit of the Bush Administration (yet aided by the SS surplus), then the 10x is about right. But only 2 of his 8 years did so well. It isn't by accident that people confuse spending versus deficit versus debt. It's much nicer sounding scare to say he is spending 10x as much. If people take the statement at face value, that's pretty bad. But it's of course quite false. Difference in spending isn't even 2x, or close to it. New math. Too much kelp, maybe. I gotta cut back. 17. Obviously you didn't read the link in the OP. Don't let facts get in the way of your hatred. Canada. Ooooooh Canada. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  18. And most Americans probably have an objection to parents hitting their kids in public. As long as it is contained to in the house or school (as allowed by the supreme court) they don't have a problem with it though. Why are you claiming the moral high ground on this issue? Are women more valuable than children? I'll take that high moral ground on that one. There's a difference between spanking and beating. We discipline without physical injury. They mame with intent. They're freaks. How objective of you. Clearly a master piece of critical thinking. Thanks for noticing. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  19. Sounds good to me. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  20. Minnesota - that's rich! In case you haven't noticed, Minnesota is a liberal haven. Doubt you'll find anything like that in Texas, Arizona, or other conservative-rich states. And just to keep the record straight, please provide a link to your source. I'd love to see the evidence of the liberal policies of which you speak! Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

  22. Callin' BS on that one. There is no place in the U.S. where it is legal ("ok", as you put it) to beat your kid, unless you consider a spanking a beating, that is. No where in this country is a parent allowed to inflict physical injury to a child. No where. Semantic wiggling? Gimme a break. But I do like the way you try to redirect what the OP was pointing out - the fact that the UAE is essentially sanctioning beatings by formally and legally allowing it. It never ceases to amaze me how no matter what sick things other countries allow their people to do to each other, the flippin' libs here always try to make it sound like we're even worse. Fact: a person that causes injury to a spouse or child in this country faces criminal charges and jail time. Fact: In the UAE, it's allowed by law. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  23. In case you haven't noticed, the OP's post was about how the UAE said it's ok to beat the wife and kids. Looks from the story you posted that it isn't tolerate here. Nice try, though. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  24. If Bush's spending was bad, this sh*t is off the hook. Big O is spending 10 fold what Bush did, all while claiming the economic policies of the 8 years before his election "got us into this mess". If Bush's spending "got us into this mess", how the hell can Obama spend 10 times as much and believe it won't take us further down the same road? Oh wait - I know why. Obama is spending money on "shovel-ready projects". http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20019468-503544.html Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
