  1. Wow dude, don't be a buzz kill. What's wrong with an event that's big on the hang. I don't know about anyone else, but I think I would enjoy a va-ca that is half hoppin' and half chillin'. I spent a week on San Pedro in August on a diving trip and luuuv'd life on the island....sans skydiving. I don't see any reason a person might not wanna make a few hops and relax the rest of the time. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  2. I've heard of "Agent 99", but you're "Author 99"! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!! Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  3. A bit of a bummer, as I anchor the traffic for Scott & Susie. Houston’s Dean & Rog are crossing to Cox The morning duo, Dean Meyers and Roger Beaty, have been heard on Clear Channel’s Classic Rock “Arrow” KKRW (93.7) for the past 12 years, and will join rival Cox Radio’s KHTC “K-Hits 107.5” as of June 1, 2009. Dean and Rog are replacing Scott & Susie, who exit. Currently, the duo are still found on the Arrow’s website. “The signing of Dean and Rog confirms Cox Radio’s long and profound commitment to providing excellent local programming to our listeners,” said Mark Krieschen, Vice President/Market Manager of Cox Radio Houston. “This is a special day for K-Hits. Dean and Rog are amazing morning personalities, and we are looking forward to having them as a part of our team.” Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  4. I don't know about all can be, but I have landed my Velocity at 2:1 in some slow speed modes. One in particular that comes to mind was a jump where I was returning from a long spot. I cleared the treeline and made it to a clear area near the tip of the runway, but then had a decision to make: land downwind or make a low 180. The wind wasn't very strong, so I could've done the downwinder. Instead I made a braking 180 and finished the flare in the turn. I don't know if you call that landing "from" half brakes, but it was certainly a minimal performance landing. By the way, the landing was as soft as any. I think the real question is at what point does a slow flying canopy lose too much lift to produce a soft landing. Keeping in mind that the lift produced by a wing is the square of the speed. Cut the speed in half and the lift is reduced 4 fold. Go too slow and pound in. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

  8. faith based - or at least validation based on consensus and the idea that "lot's of people are on board with it" a version of Pascal's Wager on the lips of the devout irrational anger and hostility to 'non-believers' Have you not seen the reactions of global warming alarmists when they find out a person doesn't believe? It can be stunningly angry. social consequences for those not in the group Hell yes there is. I personally know people that would never socialize (beyond that required at work, etc.) with non-believers, and actually encourage others to do the same. quoting scripture without understanding Done all the time by the masses that believe in global warming. They spew global warming "scripture", even though the closest anyone has come to proving it is a "consensus". a general posture of superiority and disdain smugness rote statements applied to the 'deniers' Yep, that happens on a regular basis too. Non-believers are routinely dissed by believers as dumb, and yes, they even call people who don't agree with them "deniers". What I don't get is WHY these people need some kind of "save the planet" motivation to get behind what would essentially be a move towards higher efficiencies and lower costs and cleaner air etc. Seems that doing the right thing for the sake of doing isn't enough - they have to have some grand scheme or guilt to motivate themselves. Solar and wind - two of the "brightest" technologies being developed by the alarmist crowd - are waaaaaaaay more expensive than existing technologies. That's why we don't see solar panels very much. We do agree on one thing. Many believers are very guilt-ridden. Driving around in a hybrid makes them feel better - whether it helps or not. You know, a very good friend of mine owns a couple Honda dealerships. He related an interesting story to me. When the hybrid craze started, the Prius was outselling the Civic hybrid something like 5 or 6 to 1, even though the cars were very similar in price and amenities, and the Honda actually got a little better gas mileage. When Honda did some research they found people preferred the Prius because it looked different than non-hybrids, whereas the Honda just had a small name plate on the trunk that said "hybrid". Seems hybrid buyers weren't really concerned about driving a hybrid, just being seeing in one. Global warming is real, right up until there's global cooling. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  9. You are forgetting the thousands of subsea eruptions annually which are not measurable with any accuracy. Add it up. Besides, the two biggest factors controlling global temperatures - global rainfall and solar flares - can't be measured or predicted. So smart guy, watcha gonna do when all your global cooling efforts coincide with natures next ice age? Trade your rig for skis, I guess. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  10. Fixed it for ya! Actually, you just drove my point home very nicely. Global warming is a religion. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  11. I do. For me it was six days ago. Wow. He really has dropped off the face of the earth and into obscurity hasn't he? yep. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  12. The CO2 won't increase for any significant period of time. The earth's natural CO2 emissions (and subsequent overall levels) can vary greatly from year to year, decade to decade depending on many factors. And, as you can see, we ain't dead. Why? Easy. The earth has its own scrubbing technology. When the amount of any substance goes up, the earth finds a way to deal with it. The earth does not require us to balance it. Fact: one major volcanic event releases thousands of times more CO2 (and boatloads of other, highly toxic stuff) than mankind has since the beginning of the industrial age. And we still ain't dead. Hmmmm. The earth could care less about our dinky CO2 output. Maybe that's why the global warming nuts are loosing their battle. In fact, I can't even remember the last time I saw Al Gore on TV. Global warming is about taking your money and controlling you. Nothing more, nothing less. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  13. No one said torture defeats terrorist groups. Those who disagree with you said torture is known to be helpful getting the bastards to talk. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  14. Georgia in February? I'd bring a big stack of magazines, some playing cards, and a few dozen of your favorite movies. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  15. Is there a manufacturer that recommends or requires that? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  16. I do not hate the enemy. I am a Christian. My faith teaches me to love everyone, including my enemy. I do not have to hate my enemy to destroy him. Careful where you get your facts. Experts seldom are. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  17. I am not at liberty to divulge the details of my service. And most of the experts you speak of have never seen the inside of an interrogation room. No technique is perfect, but torture does work and should continue until we find something better. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  18. Yes. We chase and confirm everything they tell us, regardless of how we get the information. Not torturing won't change that. These shit bags lie to us whether we torture them or not. Do you really believe that they will tell us the truth if we are nice to them? C'mon. 7% isn't much, but it's better than 0%. Fact: many American lives have been saved with information obtained through torture. That's a good enough reason for me. Now hand me the electrodes and flip the switch. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  19. What specific information do you have that wasn't covered? What is the extent of your background in this field? I guess you don't get it. I don't care what was covered. I don't care what some pin-headed "expert" says about the use of torture. Ask the guys that turn the screws (thumb screws, that is). They will tell you that well placed discomfort works quite well. If it didn't work, they would stop doing it. After all, the motive isn't to torture. The motive is to get the shitpiles to talk. Torture just helps it happen. To answer your question, 7 years. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  20. I have the solution. Tell the evil pieces of shit that as long as they talk, they stay alive. When they quit talkin', kill 'em - right in front of their piece of shit brothers - with a bacon wrapped dagger (shaped like a cross, of course). Then shove a big hunk o' ham down their throats and bury 'em facing west with a grave full of Jack Daniels and porno vids. Nerdly, you sound like smart kid, but you have a lot to learn about this vicious enemy. Torture or no torture, these people must be removed from the earth. Not jailed, not carted off to an island somewhere. REMOVED - as in killed. That is the ONLY thing that will stop them. Ad if we don't stop them, they will kill us, including you. Pass the sausage. I got me some killin' to do. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  21. I didn't imply that our military use overwhelming force or torture. I said they should do whatever is necessary. If that includes torture, so be it. And while torture may only work 7% of the time, it has proven to save American lives. Given the brutal nature of the enemy, I don't care what we do to them, as long as it makes them talk. Wrap 'em in bacon and bury 'em facing west. 5 left and cut.... Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

  24. And stepping up the battle in Afghanistan - central HQ for Al Quaeda - doesn't do that? Good try, but anything and everything we do helps the enemy recruit. Our freedom helps them recruit. The so-called pornography nature of western society helps them recruit. The fact that a good many of us believe in a different savior than they do helps them recruit. Hell man, our very existence helps them recruit. You can bet yer ass that attacking the very core of their head shed helps them recruit in a BIG way. Don't get me wrong - I think we should be bombing the shit out the mountains of Afghanistan. But don't use bogus arguments about what helps the enemy recruit. Nothing could help those animals recruit any better than the fight zeroing in on Afghanistan. Thought before rhetoric, my man. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  25. Water boarding is what made Khalid Sheikh Mohammed spill his guts. I can't say for sure it was necessary, but it was sure as hell productive. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
