It's not hard to understand. You just won't accept the answer. The housing bubble is the primary cause of the current overall economic situation, and the housing bubble was caused by ludicrous decisions in Washington at the hands of Clinton, Dodd, Frank, and their buddies. This is all well established. You just keep looking for an answer you like. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

I'll take your word for it that you've been saying that all along. To my ears (eyes) it sounded a little different, but maybe that was my interpretation. Now all I'll ask is that you back that up. Nothing you or anyone else has posted has come close to proving that statement. And yes, I've read what people have posted, and watched the videos. In reaching your final conclusion above, you're making lots of assumptions that I and others have pointed out are not accurate. you are correct that the mortgage bubble is not entirely to blame, poor oversight on wall street and poor fiscal responsibility by everyone that over extended themselves also had alot to do with it, but the mortgage crisses played the major roll in the colapse of the financial industry and that caused the other businesses to faulter. I guess trickle down economics does work and maybe the currant government should use this as a model for putting it right again. If you fuck up the top end it fucks up the bottom and if you fix the top it fixes the bottom. Trickle down economics absolutely works. While the libs swear it doesn't, take note - every time the economy takes a hit, we see articles about rich people pulling back on spending and how that has a negative impact on the little guy that depends on that spending for his/her living. Just recently I read an article about a yacht builder that had to lay off workers, limo drivers that were getting their hours cut, and workers at luxury hotels getting the axe because "the rich aren't spending". The same holds true at much lower levels in the economy too. When little guys like me stay home instead of going to dinner and a movie, it hurts the waiter and the guy working the popcorn stand. Pounding on the rich guy until he's not rich won't do anything but make envious people fell better. It will not solve economic problems. ALL economies are trickle down. It's all just a matter of where it's trickling from. Obama wants it to trickle from the government, which means higher taxes for those who pay them. And THAT will cause people to stop buying yachts AND movie tickets. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

The only assumption I'm making is that the financial analysts that have been beating this drum since the time of that article are correct, and no one has stepped up to refute them. I suppose if I had nothing better to do, I could find actual documents to back up what the article and those analysts have said, but I don't see that as necessary. If it wasn't true, the libs would be proving it up with all kinds of evidence to the contrary. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

And there are still many here who don't understand the difference between corrolation and causation. All the "evidence" that you and others have posted shows that Democrats, namely Barney Frank (who I agree is a total asshole) were warned that Fannie and Freddie were in trouble. We're supposed to take that evidence and leap to the conclusion that the entire financial and economic crisis was caused by Clinton lowering lending standards with Frank's and ACORN's collusion. Sorry, but to people without an agenda, the links are not as obvious as you imply. You've yet to show proof, beyond opinion pieces, that the crisis was caused by action or inaction on the part of Fannie/Freddie, Frank, or the Democrats. You also brush off the fact that Republicans were in charge of Congress during the time that Frank was supposedly forcing all this down the throats of the financial sector. nerdgirl has posted numerous links suggesting that there may have been other forces at work, too. That evidence is routinely ignored. I don't want to "deny" anything, but before I accept your hypothesis, I'd like to see some actual evidence. Please no more links to Fox and Newsmax. Thanks. I have never said that the crap they were pulling caused the "entire financial and economic crisis". I contend that it caused the bulk of the problems in the housing market by creating false demand that could never be self-sustaining. And, as we all know now, the housing bubble is the lergest contributing factor to the overall economic problems we face today. And what does Obama want to do to fix it? Pay down those people's loans - and issue new loans for up to 105% of the appraised value of the home! What the hell kind of sense does that make??????? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Thank you. I've been trying to explain this to the "other side" on this forum for a while now. Every time I mention it, I get the same ol' "it wasn't the CRA that caused the problem" line. When I try to educate them about the crap that was going on from Clinton forward, they don't want to hear it or they go off on an unrelated rant as NerdGirl has done on this thread. Bill "I never had sex with that woman" Clinton, Chris "I got a sweetheart deal on my house from the CEO of Countrywide" Dodd, and Barney "Fannie and Freddie are not in trouble" Frank own this one. Affordable housing should mean buying a house you can afford. Sometimes that's an apartment. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Yes, why bother to bring it up again? Because there are still many on this forum that want to deny it. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

The way it works is we go further into debt to try to generate commerce that will stimulate the economy, create jobs, get back on track, and eventually pay off said debt. It has been shown to work (usually), but does not reduce the total pain. When has it worked? Details. please. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

He loves everybody, but is still going to condemn some portion to roast forever. And where does He get all these virgins that He is going to shower on certain people? That's a lot of virgins. Must have a huge stockpile of them in some sort of virgin warehouse. You are confusing God with Alah. Pretty sure the Muslims will tell you they aren't the same. And where does he get those virgins? Not necessarily. The Empire State building, the Taj Mahal, the Mona Lisa, Calculus, Quantum Elecrodynamics, the Bikini and Top Gun; all pretty cool things left behind by humans not living in mud huts and eating grass. Land fill, chemical weapons, heroin, Auchwitz and country music; we'd probably be better off without. Top Gun? Are you kiddin' me? Take a closer look at the slo-mo volleyball scene. It was full of pork, not earmarks. Many consider the distinction unimportant, but it makes the statement true, or as as true as any propaganda coming from the White House for the past several residents. Help me out. What's the difference? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Looks pretty good with people to me. Why do some see humans as foreign objects on the earth? We are, after all, just as much a part of nature as every other thing on the planet. It's not humans per se, but the shit they leave behind. You mean the shit we leave behind. That is unless you are living in a mud hut, eating berries and grass, wearing a fig leaf, drinking from the river, and recycling your own shit. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

The CRA was Carters deal. I'm referring to laws made in the 80/90's brought to us by Chris Dodd (who got a special "friends only" deal on his own mortgage from who else...Countrywide), Barney Frank, and their underlings in congress. These laws dictated dramatically reduced home lending standards, including such lunacy as no proof of income required, no down payment (can you say default risk?), and financing for more than 100% of the homes' value. It was an orchestrated housing bubble. In the name of "affordable housing", standards were lowered to moronic levels, lenders were "encouraged" to make the loans, and were strong-armed by ACORN and others if they tried to pass on loans they could clearly see were destined for failure. Then the government backed Fannie and Freddie with mine and some other Americans tax money to encourage lenders to continue the practice. Now Frank and Dodd blame predatory lenders for issuing the loans. Aren't they a laugh a minute? You have a remarkable talent for sticking to your theories in the face of overwhelming evidence that they are incorrect. Not one lender was FORCED to lower lending standards. They did that all by themselves, in the hope of making a big profit. Not one investor was FORCED to buy over leveraged crap. They chose to do that all by themselves in the hope of making a big profit. The lender (think investor) was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, whose lending standards were lowered by Franklin Raines and his ilk in cooperation with Dodd and Frank in the name of "affordable housing".. Fannie and Freddie don't make decisions abpout whether or not a given individual is credit worthy. That is entirely up to the bank. Fannie and Freddie dictate the minimum lending standards for any loan they will buy (and they currently own 90% of all mortgages in the U.S). What you say is true ONLY when the bank is the lender (instead of a mortgage company) and the loan is conventional only. All VA, FHA, and other government program loans use Freddie and Fannie standards whether made by a mortgage broker or bank. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Bummer. So maybe UPS should change its name to stick-UPS. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. I have filed a claim with UPS and they are checking into it. Just got off the phone with Bev. She said she is starting a new suit for me today!! I asked what we'll do if UPS finds the first one and she said don't sweat it. Hats off to Bev Suits! Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX

What a pisser. I ordered a new RW suit from Bev Suits a couple weeks ago and paid a double rush to get it quick, as my old suit was falling apart. It arrived on schedule Monday, sort of. The package was an oversized bubble wrap lined envelope. In it should have been the jumpsuit and another envelope with some documents. Upon opening the package, only the document envelope was there - no jumpsuit. Bev and staff confirmed that the suit should have been in that package. They also explained that they place packing tape over the seal flap to make sure everything stays put. So I drug the oversized envelope out of the trash for a second look. Sure enough, the thing had been opened and the suit removed, then it was resealed with packing tape (see photo). I assume the suit was removed by some UPS warehouse worker. The envelope was probably singled out because it's easy to reseal them so they look untouched. I doubt if they even knew what they were stealing. It may show up on ebay. If someone shows up at the DZ with a solid black Bev bootie suit with blue grippers, ask 'em how they like it. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
