  1. Sort of. The strength of the U.S. economy has a huge influence on the rest of the world's economies. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  2. That'll teach ya. I say jump a big canopy on a day with some wind and land on your good foot. Problem solved. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  3. Just out of curiosity, what type of company are you referring to? Are you planning on building canopies? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  4. ...30% since election day. Spend some more, Messiah! Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  5. Tough to defend him when Medvidev has admitted getting the letters on Russian TV. Really? All Things Considered, March 3, 2009 · Both the U.S. and Russia are denying that any secret deal is in the works concerning missile defense and Iran. The denials follow a front-page story in Tuesday's New York Times reporting that President Obama sent a "secret letter" to Moscow, suggesting he would back off deploying a missile defense system in Eastern Europe if Moscow would help stop Iran from developing its nuclear weapons program. 1:28 - reporter says Medvedev has confirmed e-mails with B.O. on the issue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNI-h5Azz8M Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  6. I think you're confused, Bill. I'm talking about B.O. keeping secrets from ALLIES while talking SECRETLY to ENEMIES, not the other way around. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  7. I refuse to address the issue? When your reply does nothing more than question my knowledge of the subject (without stating YOURS, by the way), I call that not speaking to the issue. Telling me I'm not addressing the issue is simply not true, and appears to be a dodge more than anything else. Did you not read my last reply to you? I clearly did speak to the issue. For your convenience, here's what I said: >>>And to answer your other question, the "head of state" in question wrote SECRET letters after our nation was already in talks with two very important allies with opposing stated goals. Allies, get it? Allies. That DESTROYS the trust built over a very long time. It doesn't take a rocket scientist OR diplomat to figure out that's stupid. Unless of course you can shine some of your vast knowledge and credentials on the issue to show me where I'm wrong.I'm a rocket engineer with a degree in Foreign Affairs. Really. On the other hand, I never, unlike you, claimed to have vast knowledge. I just like pointing out the hypocrisy of the right wingers here.

  9. I've heard this before, but I never saw anything on it. Who were his 'buddies' and where do the complaints of elitism fall into place. i guess you were sleeping during the election or watched only cnn. In other words, you can't or won't answer the question. Got it. Man, you sure take a lot of stabs for a guy that doesn't say much on the actual issue being discussed. Your right, I guess. Just not very productive. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  10. That depends. Did you break it jumping? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  11. I'm a rocket engineer with a degree in Foreign Affairs. Really. On the other hand, I never, unlike you, claimed to have vast knowledge. I just like pointing out the hypocrisy of the right wingers here. Wow, you really don't discuss the issues, do you? Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  12. What's with you and your questioning of credentials and knowledge? This is a forum for discussion. Poeple don't have to be experts on the topic they choose to discuss, so get over yourself. Hell, if people needed to be experts before making a comment, this damn forum wouldn't even exist. And to answer your other question, the "head of state" in question wrote SECRET letters after our nation was already in talks with two very important allies with opposing stated goals. Allies, get it? Allies. That DESTROYS the trust built over a very long time. It doesn't take a rocket scientist OR diplomat to figure out that's stupid. 13. Explode when they think about what he's done here, that is. Trust is about all diplomatic relationships have going for them, and this move will kill that trust on all sides. No country wants to do business with a President that can't be trusted. Not honest business, anyway. A month +/- in office and already he's showing the rest of the world how he operates. But hey, it worked in Chicago! Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  14. Thank goodness that's all. I thought you were going to say he claimed to be named after that famous mountain climber "Sir Edmond Jindal". Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  15. Secret letters? Has Obama completely lost his mind? So much for our relationships with Poland and the Czech Republic. What's next? Snubbing Gordon Brown during his first visit with him? Oh wait, he did that earlier today http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1158395/Downing-St-left-embarrassed-President-Obama-scales-meeting-Brown.html. http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,4068869,00.html Russian President Medvedev has said he's willing to discuss the proposed US missile shield with Washington. But he added that any deal linking those talks with negotiations regarding Iran would not be productive. Russian President Dimitry Medvedev's comments came in response to a New York Times report that US President Barack Obama had written a secret letter to his Russian counterpart offering to halt the planned missile shield, which would be located mainly in Poland and the Czech Republic, in return for Moscow's help in stopping Iran from developing long-range nuclear weapons. 17. Ft. Hood Sport Parachute Club was a $1 a jump. Too bad we hardly ever got air support. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  18. Which explains why so many democrats are in poverty. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  19. Bullshit. At least according to the data. Just to get things straight (I'm not debating your point, just wondering where the cutoffs are). How are you defining "overwhelming majority of wealthy?" Is there a cutoff point? I took a look at a couple of exit polls. I know that data is boring, but it beats making shit up. The only group that overwhelmingly favored McCain (as in more than 60%) was gun owners. Whites did seem to favor him, but blacks favored Obama (more overwhelmingly, but with far less overall influence). one source Wikipedia CNN This is by no means exhaustive. A lot of polls don't include income data. One that didn't was, however, very interesting nevertheless. From the NY Times . The cool thing is that you can click the "height of bars" line to see how influential each segment is among voters as a whole. For instance, suburbs are almost half of the where-you-live poll. Wendy W. I didn't say anything about blacks ad whites, I said welfare recipients. Look at the chart you provided. 73% of people earning less than $15,000 a year vote democrat. That's what I'm talking about. These are the people we tax payers will have to carry through the economic problems, which was the context of my statement. Of course I guess we already do that. You are right though about the wealthy not being as republican as I remembered. I had forgotten that there's been a shift in the upper income brackets, specially among $200K plus types.. And just to answer your question, I call 73% an overwhelming majority. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  20. You might be amazed at the number of wealthy people in NYC and surrounding areas who are die hard democrats. I have never been able to understand it. I think a lot of that is cultural rather than economic. A lot of those folks are yellow dog dems that will ALWAYS vote democrat regrdless of how much they make. Talk about spiting yourself. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  21. For the most part, that's an element of population size. States with large populations obviously pay more in income taxes (New York, California, Illinois). Less populated states don't have enough people to end up paying enough in taxes to make up for federal programs - which are usually not an option for the state to take (Utah, Wyoming, etc). I wasn't referring to states, anyway. Why not just address my point? In case you forgot, here it is again: An overwhelming majority of welfare recipients vote democrat. An overwhelming majority of wealthy people vote republican. Who's supporting who? Hmmm. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  22. Wrong again, Bill. An overwhelming majority of welfare recipients vote democrat. An overwhelming majority of wealthy people vote republican. Who's supporting who? Thanks for the laugh, though. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  23. Me: I'll take Moronic Assertions for $200 please, Alex. Alex: We didn't really land on the moon in 1969; The Holocaust never actually happened (and Hitler was a swell guy that just never got a break from the liberal media); The New Deal didn't work. Me: What are incorrect claims made by tin-foil hatters? Alex: Correct. We also would have accepted "incorrect claims made by people who lack an accurate understanding of history." Pick again. Gimme "how WWII pulled the U.S. from a depression" for $500. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  24. Bet now you and a whole bunch of other Americans wish you had! Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
  25. Actually it's a tax credit, not a reduction in the tax rate. The difference? We get to pay income tax on that $13 a week! So I guess we're actually getting $7 or $8 a week. Now that's stimulus! Of course if you're out of work, you'll get an extra $25 a week under the plan. Nothing like giving incentives NOT to work. Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
