In your opinion, which one of these canopies is the most attention capturing? They are numbered 1-8 and attached in a word doc. attched. I sort of like them all and I am leaning more toward the first three or four. There is going to be a graphic on the bottom skin in the center. If you don't like any of them, why not? What would you do better? Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  2. I beleive it is associated with how we communicate while doing CRW. Everything is short and positive commands. For example- Just like we tell dogs to sit, stay, we tell each other left, right or grip when a dog that is missing the correct grip needs a little help. This is what was told to me. 3. I plan to use something like this and build a free fly handle around it. That is If I can find something that is a beacon and not just a recorder. http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/h0001.html Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  4. That would mean USPA getting involved. The LAST thing I want is USPA telling CRW Dogs what they can & can't do, and who can & can't teach. When USPA gets involved it tends to unnecessarily cost people more money with little corresponding value being returned. My experience with younger jumpers and CRW is that they won't go near you as a tutor until they've seen you do lots of CRW and/or have a comfort level with your abilities and judgment. Agreed, but that doesn't mean we can't develop some sort of teaching standard and monitor out own. The reason why advanced coaching works well in other disciplines is because they have standardized what is taught and measured who can become an instructor. Wing suit flyers are a good example of this. USPA is not involved except for one or two BSR which don't really get in the way of anything. 5. I remember when the 20 jumps changed to 25. Cool I didn't know you were a coach. Not to question your credentials or ability just thoughts in my earlier post. I guess I could agree there. Do you also explain the differences in what they are learning now and what Quote/Unquote real CRw is? Equipment, techniques, safety procedures and ECt. ? 6. You can pinch mine if you like: http://ozcrw.tripod.com/training.htm There is a CRW tutor rating in Oz. You are correct in that most people just learn from other people. BASE is similar. If you can improve this, feel free to email me and I'll add in your bits. The Egyptians used that same program. *Pinch* I was speaking of the U.S. Sorry I should have specified. 7. I think this goes right along with having the mental capacity to deal with things and being able to grasp canopy flight fundamentals. IMO The problem with taking them so young is that 1. No A license so they are only supposed to be jumping with a coach at that point. 2. Nothing against you, but teaching a new jumper how to do CRW with microlines and other poetenially unsafe equipment may later be bad for when your not around and they think they can tell someone else how then you have to unexperienced jumpers doing it with potentially unsafe equipment for their experience. 8. I don't know what the guys training the Egyptians did but in general CRW doesn't have a strutured training program or a measure to qualify tutors. the BPA does, maybe we can borrow from them. 9. Thanks for posting this. I don't think everyone has seen the announcment yet. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  10. It can vary as far as jump numbers go. I tend to look for people who have the mental capacity or what others may call awareness to deal with dynamic situations. Basic understanding of fundamentals pertaining to canopy flight concepts. As far as jump numbers go maybe more than 100 maybe a good base to start with. 11. Ah, I see. I was just wondering because it would be cool to be able to get updates so I don't have "egg on my face" in the future. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  12. Cool. So qhat list is the updates getting emailed out to? Pm it if you wish. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  13. That event has a new date: ------------------------------------ Due to a scheduling conflict we are going to have to change the date of the first Lake Wales camp to March 2, 3, and 4th. ------------------------------------ So what list is that going out on and how come the dates on the CF website are still 16, 17, 18? 14. I sent an email to the regular list for intersted dogs to email me before this thread was started. Usually two CRW events won't be scheduled the same weekend in the same state. It isn't in the CRW culture to split the group and compete. If you would like to wait I'm working on getting the DZO to do something special for the CRW dogs. Also last year at Z-hills we waited 3 hours between loads and only got three jumps in and that was with someone manifesting our group while we were in the air. The next day we ended up at Lake Wales where we got in some jumps but it was dead. Also we didn't have any DZ favors like I'm working on this year. There is a world record selection camp going on in March 16, 17, 18 at Lake Wales according to record annoucement. Maybe some dogs are willing to travel twice in the same month to the same place. I'm betting that most of the dogs go to the camp to get a chance at a world record. 16. Note to self: only date women whose mothers are hot, don't give me any shit, and think I'm really cool! Walt with that being said, If the woman I have now doesn't last I'm going to start intervie the mom before I serioulsy date another. I think that is a great idea. Walt I was sure someone would agree. 17. Can I get an Amen to that? - Best post of this whole weak assed thread I'd say. Older women are definitely the way forward. Now perleaze - nekkid pics! Someone , anyone Keep in mind that not all older women have it together. I have had my experience with "bad eggs" too. the trick is being able to see the red flags no matter what the age. 18. I'm afraid I must agree with them. That think looks fucking hideous. Kevin Better the suit look hideous on you then you looking hideous in your suit. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  19. Funny. But that won't be the only reason to interview mom. Attitude and behavior is another reason. Got to look at how mom treats the dad or husband. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

  21. This is going to happen to you more than once. Friends doing things that hurt and girls fucking you over. Learn from it and learn to pick and choose who you call a friend and who you call a girlfriend. Learn to say stay away from me. You also have to give your self permission to start the healing process from the hurt or you will always carry it around with you. It may not be easy, but you'll be better for it. I know because I went through this not long ago. Not exactly the same situation but getting past it all is what I mean. I also did took the low road too and I found out it wasn't the best thing to do. Generally Women won't screw you over but girls do. So find mature women who at least has some idea of what they want and aren't afraid to tell you what it is. You'll know who they are because you will see warning signs form the ones that are messed up. 23. They will give him what he needs. However somethings cost money like stamps envelops and such. It must be different than the Marines. We weren't allowed to take anything but we could get stuff sent from home like envelops, stamps. I'm speaking of Boot camp. later in traning after boot camp we could get just about anything sent to us in the mail legaly or purchase it from the post exchange. I would recommend not sending food or magazine subscriptions, or anything during boot camp unless it is requested. Some guys got cookies and when the box was opened it was a tinfoil package contianing crumbs by the time it got to them. disposable camera is good if you want him to send photos back to you but again after bootcamp. Boot camp is too busy for any extra stuff. Again it must be different than the Marines but all I had time for in boot camp when I got my hour of personal time each night was to write a letter and diary entry, shine brass and boots, maybe press a uniform. Family Readiness, Assistance and Support is part of my job in the reserves. Here is an idea I gave the Marines who were still here when the rest of the unit got deployed. http://usmilitary.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=usmilitary&cdn=careers&tm=73&gps=71_1449_1020_581&f=00&su=p554.2.150.ip_p560.3.150.ip_p284.5.420.ip_&tt=2&bt=1&bts=1&zu=http%3A//www.aafes.com/docs/homefront.htm This way they get to pick up what they need. For anyone else reading this post and want to do something fo the hlidays to support our servicemembers this web page has a few legit resources and ideas. http://usmilitary.about.com/od/deploymentsconflicts/a/militarysupport.htm scroll down to the bottom of the page there isa second page to this with links as well.
