  1. IMO, there's two sides of this. 1. Integrity come into question if a provider knowingly doesn't actively take step to safeguard the patient and others on the road if the patient is physically unsafe to drive. 2. There's also the CYA, a lawsuit could come from someone who was injured by the patient if all steps to prevent the patient from driving. 2. I usually don't drink beer, but when I do, it 's Bud. However, the best beer I've ever had was in Lima, Peru. It was called Cusecana Negra (spelling is wrong), it was AWESOME!!! Usually I drink Jim Beam and Dr Pepper though. Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  3. I have no problem with any religion. My only fear is that building a mosque at ground zero would be twisted into a symbol for extremist, not just Muslims but any terrorist/extremist. Even the best of intentions can be twisted by those who have ulterior motives. This is not to say that it shouldn’t be built, but careful step should be taken to prevent it being used as a symbol for terror/extremism. 4. I've had two reserved seats for BAC and had to let them both go due to "operational commintment", finally decided that I wasn't going to wait any longer for the Navy to pay for it and went through AFF on my own dime. Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  5. Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but I wasn't the one who had the thought, my paranoid wife is the one who won't leave it alone. I think the reason is, a few weekends ago, she saw a guy with 30 jumps drop down to a 150sqft chute, ingoring advise, and then smear himself all over the LZ. It scared her and she doesn't want that to happen to me. The ST&A at the DZ has no problem with me on a 210 and I'm not looking to downsize again for the forseeable future. I understand that she is concerned, but I think she's going overboard. Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  6. Alright, I am asking this simply to get some other opinions from experienced skydivers outside my home DZ. I have been jumping for about two years now, with multiple breaks due to military deployments. I just applied for my "B" license and have 63 jumps to date. I originally started on at 260 and down-sized to a 230 when I had about 30 jumps. I just dropped down to a 210 and have yet to land hard, I’ve had to PLF a couple of times but nothing that I didn’t walk away from. I’m 6’ and 220lbs. My wife is concerned that I’m dropping square footage too fast, she’s a non-jumper an usually on the EXTREME safe side. My question is, am I dropping size too fast? Secondly, I’d like to start learning to sit-fly. A buddy of mine wants to learn in a tunnel, which I’m not opposed to, just want to ask what is the best way… 1minute at a time in the air or 30 minutes in a tunnel? Thanks in advance to all who respond. Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  7. Shell out the cash and get a hotel room, August in North Texas is miserable!!!! Either that or pack alot of ice and sleep in your cooler. Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  8. After 15 years in medicine I've noticed several common factors. One that applies to this situation is the patient wants a fix to the problem, and more times than not, the fix to the problem is rest and time. Rest so as to not further aggravate the injury and time to allow the body to heal. Now, I understand that you have to work to put food on the table and that time is a very finite commodity but it is also the most valuable commodity when it comes to allowing your body to heal. People also make the mistake of confusing pain killers and anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medications. Analgesics (pain killers) act like a light switch and chemically make the brain not recognize pain that is at the site of injury. Use of these medications can cause further damage by tricking the patient into thinking that everything is ok, then they begin activity again and cause further harm. Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAID) have a chemical action on the area of injury and reduce swelling (inflammation) in that area. One of the positive side effects of this is to reduce pressure on the surrounding nerves and reduce pain. Another positive effect of NSAIDs is that the reduction of swelling in the area will allow for increased blood flow in the area, allowing for faster healing. 10. As for the question that was asked earlier about tolerating heavy drinking. No, someone comes into work with a hangover once, I'll deal with that as a single isolated incidence, twice establishes a pattern and I'll refer them for evaluation by medical. As for the differences in my "tolerance", it is purely on an "honor" basis. The military has no problem with alcohol use, but there is a "Zero tolerance" policy on illicit drug use. The service member knows this when they join and agree to live by the rules that are imposed on them. No one makes them join and they join knowing that they will be expected to live by rules that far exceed civilian life. The choice to use drugs is not what bothers me, it's the choice to break an oath, forfeiting their honor, that makes me not want to be forced to rely on them fighting beside me. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but to me a man's word is his bond. If I tell you that i'm gonna do something, then come hell or high water, I'm gonna get it done and I expect that of other people too. 11. I've had two guys that work for me (active duty Navy) get caught with spice and related paraphernalia, each was "found guilty" at mast (UCMJ) of illegal use of a controlled substance, reduced in rank, awarded 1/2 months pay for two months, restricted to the ship for 45 days and ADSEP. This is nothing to play with in the military, just because it is sold as an" incense" in the smoke shops, doesn't mean that it's ok to roll up and smoke. I personally don't want anyone working for me that is a pot-head and if this stuff is stronger that weed, I defiantly want them out of my Navy. 13. I personally have no problem with any child learning about guns... how, when and why to use them. They are a tool to be used with proper education and responsibility. I was personally shooting at the ripe old age of six and have never shot anyone in the street. If kids were being beat to death with baseball bats every day, would someone start a push to ban Louisville Sluggers? A gun is the tool, the fault lies with the user. 14. My grandaddy was a horse marine. He was born wearin' OD green. Ate his steaks eight inches thick, Picked his teeth with a guidon stick. My grandmamma was a good little lass, Big ole boobs and nice fat ass. Grandaddy never was much of a prick, She made him happy by suckin' his dick. Grandaddy love to fight and fuck, grandmamma prefered just to fuck. Now we know the answer to, just why granddaddy was so cool. Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  15. Ok, Wendy. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Andy: Wrong, lose-lose-lose. This guy will have the mental capabilities of a rock, now he's making change in your register and losing money or ripping off customers. Or he's screwing up orders and causing you to lose repeat customers. Now, he's hitting your in the wallet. How long is he going to work for you? Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  16. True, but again from my earlier post, alcohol doesn't produce a chemical addiction from one use. Meth, crack and various other narcs can. Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  17. Hypothetical... You own a business, say a Burger King. One of your employees is a habitual user of narcotics. Now, we all know that the "high" is on a sliding scale, so the longer this employee uses, the more he's going to have to use to get the same high. How many times are you going to allow this employee to show up for work high, before you fire him? Now he's lost his job but still has the addiction to narcs, how's he going to pay the legal and lower price? A war on drugs is not the answer, it's just all that we can do right now. The answer to the problem is for people to realize that drugs are bad and lower the damand for them by stopping their use. It will take someone way smarter than me to figure out how that must be done, but i know this. It is something that hasto happen in the home, the government can't and shouldn't attempt to control it. 18. Yes ... I'm in favor of legalizing "dope". Just like we had to do with alcohol. The problem is analogous and so is the solution. Obviously, I'm not. Which drugs would you like to see legalized? Pot? Coke? Meth? Black-tar? All of them? Chuck For adults...why not? Would cut down on the crime associated with the drugs, at least to a degree. Really? What happened to the Mob after prohibition? Did they go away? The "crime" associated with illegal drug use is not the actual buying/selling/transport of the drugs. While these actions are crimes, what we should be more concerned with is the "acquisition crimes." When an addict needs a fix and doesn't have the money, he will commit robbery/burgurlary/assault/ prostitution or any other number of crimes that affect much more than the dealer/buyer that most people associate "drug crime" to affect. Legalizing of illict drugs would make these problems more prevalent. Those of your who compare the effects of alcohol/tobacco prohibition with narcotics need to look a bit further into the problem. The addictive charistics of narcotics can lead to a chemical addiction in only one use, someone can take a drag of a cig and say "THAT SUCKS" and never touch them again. Legalization of schedule IV narcotics would be an aboslutely negative move, with no positive effects. Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  19. Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated. Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  20. I took the "B" license test last week, just to get a look at it and unfortunately failed by one question. I've since read, re-read and double read all the applicble sections of the SIM but can't find a clear answer to one question.... What is the maximum distance that a plane can fly from take off to the intended jump run? Sec 119.1 (e) (6) states... Nonstop flight cinducted within a 25 statute mile radius of the airport of takeoff carrying persons or objects for the purpose of conducting intentional parachute operations. Is 25 miles the answer for this or am I looking in the wrong seciton. Any help with this would be greatly appreicated. Thx Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!

  23. OK, a little update for more specific information. I'll be staying about halfway between Canton and Athens. I've heard about a DZ in Gladewater, I checked out the website but didn't find much, just know that it's not a USPA group member. Anyone been there, how is it? Are there any other DZs in the area that ya'll would recommend? Thanks. Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
  24. Hi ya'll, new to posting and have a question. I have been jumping in San Diego and am going to be visiting family in the Tyler area for the next couple of weeks. What is a good DZ around that area? Thanks Life is short, eat more bacon, have more sex and jump anytime you can!!
