  1. *Drool* 'Tis true. Despite the recent little oil oopsie, we have our proximity to the Gulf of Mexico to thank for Monster Puffy Goodness(tm).
  2. Sha-weet puffy surf! Noticed you got a couple of nice halos in there too!
  3. Young troll padawan... you too many winkies. To troll effectively you have to be able to say the most outrageous of things with 100% seriousness. The little I can offer is basically what Purple Mike (who I think we can all safely agree is a true puffy hound) taught me. Dive down toward the line that you want to run, generating as much speed as you can, then when you hit the line, plane out and punch it. You'll generate a crapton of lift and make that puffy your little bitc....

Assuming this isn't photoshopped (which I'm guessing it is), my brain is having all kinds of trouble processing something related to parachutes in any sort of NPS posting... well, one that doen't mention massive fines and jailtime anyway. So based on this poster, if you didn't wear a parachute, and landed your wingsuit in a Nation Park... and didn't die... the NPS would be perfectly OK with this. Someone get Jeb on the phone stat!
  5. Anything from Stone is awesome. And their Imperial russian Stout is in season right now.
  6. Just booked my tickets so I'll be up representing the Houston wingsuiters.
  7. It depends on what mood he's in. If he's happy, it's purple. If he's sad, it's blue. If he's mad, it's red. If he sees chicks or puffies, it's this frothing, foaming, kinda mauve-looking... stuff.
  8. Awesome flyby pics Scotty! The flag flyby is an especially cool way to celebrate the 4th squirrel style!
  9. or maybe it's just a matter of time... hopefully i'm wrong. I have my own, and somewhat complex, theory on this, but the short answer is all of the above. I'd also point out that while the number of skydiving fatalities is fairly low, it's no coincidence that the BASE fatality list is littered with wingsuiters who have pushed the envelope too far.
  10. OK I just went back all over my suit and rig and still for the life of me can't find that button I'm supposed to be pushing. Maybe that's my problem. Seriously though sweet job scoring a wingsuit-friendly tunnel ride. Were you able to get any sort of useful/interesting data out of your time in there?
  11. Hell, we can't even agree upon what a wingsuit *IS*, let alone what consititutes flying one at "max performance". Strap a GPS to a flier and you'll STILL wind up in a debate over which metric most accurately reflects flight performance. Is it distance covered? Horizontal speed? Vertical speed? Glide ratio? Flight time? None of the above because we got sidetracked by a puffy? I think this is what Tony was referring to when he said the whole argument is silly. It's silly because it's an argument over something completely subjective. [how the hell Scotty's original topic took a turn in this direction I have no idea, but I'll happily ride the ADD tangent train]
  12. This attitude reminds me of a line from Outlaw Josey Wales... "Dyin' ain't much of a way to make a livin', boy."
  13. Nice vid Scotty. And yes, very sweet puffy surfage. I'm curious. What's the background of the jumper? What was he flying and how many wingsuit jumps did he have at that point? Do you happen to know what he had been flying prior to that suit?
  14. Actually, it looked more like an intended triple gainer with a 1-1/2 twist into a double-forward pike but he screwed it up and just wound up with a 57-3/4 twist with a 24-3/8 front somersault.

This. In BASE equipment selection is relatively static. In skydiving people downsize, upsize, re-downsize so any integrated container would need to be able to readily accomodate skydiver gear changes. It would suck having to buy a new suit every time you change canopies (main and/or reserve). Not saying it's impossible, just that it would take a lot of thought and creative design.
  16. The formula, at least in terms of how it's normally applied is really quite simple. If you consider yourself a "conservative", then a "liberal" is anyone who disagrees with you on anything. If you consider yourself a "liberal", then a "conservative" is anyone who disagrees with you on anything. If you consider yourself neither, then you're both. Political logic hurts my little brain. Back to beer....
  17. Wow, that's an AMAZING piece of history you lucked into there. "Yeah I have this old, beat-up plane in my barn that's just taking up space. You want it?" ***wipes off grime to reveal name => KITTY HAWK *** "Yeah I think I'd be interested."
  18. I know, but giving up beer is like giving up puffies and rodeos.
  19. Time to necro a thread... Does anyone here have any flight time in both the Ghost 2 and S-Bird? I'd be interested in the pros/cons of each.... particularly as a general purpose flock-n-dock suit for people like me who... enjoy our beer (I'm 5'6" @ 180.... stop snickering Mike). I was considering a Ghost 2, but I've heard some folks say that the Tony Suits are a good choice for stockier folks. The S-Bird seemed like the closest match on the Tony side.
  20. I don't have a problem logging in, but I've had problems for a while now uploading files.
  21. I'm in for $100 to fly him down there. But only if the date is on video.
