As the steel pan form used to creat the floor slabs, the columns, and the beams, and connections would have all been weakened by the fire, this would be true. Just think about this statement. In what universe does the momentum of a falling object amount to less then its wieght? The object in question being the upper block of the tower does not have a deceleration device, such as a parachute to slow it down. If you can solve this one you can through away your parachute. Been 18yrs for me and I still get the odd craving. All I can say is tough it out, it will pass, and it does get easier. My wife smokes and her habit does not give me cravings. Being a Canadian, and living overseas, I have never been a student of American politics. But it has always seemed to me, to be pretty damn obviuos that the right to bear arms was intended as the right of the people (in general) to protect thier country from tyrants, (such as the British in the colonies to the north). This has scince been perverted to the right of every Tom, Dick, and Nut case to own a weapon, and then perverted further to the point were some serious fire power can be in the hands of the general public. While I admire the man for what he did, it was after all a scientific endevour. I think to call it a skydive is not totally correct. Skydiving is a sport and a recreational activity. His jump was an exploration, mostly of equipment, and how to protect human bodies from extreme environments. I do believe Booth, Snyder and others are far more deserving. Of course if they are trying to garner public intrest and PR points Kittenger is by far the more recognizable to the general public and therefore more valuable!
