AP Syle guide! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

I worked with a delegation of 20 Jordanians for a couple of weeks, 10 women and 10 men. Jordan has an open policy for hair covering for women -- wear it or don't, but if you do, it must be plain black or white (depending on the uniform), and of a single-piece easy-to-wear style. The government didn't want to dictate one look or the other, and wanted all women to have the opportunity to serve. One of the toughest female NCOs I ever met was the one on that delegation, and she chose to cover her hair. We were at Parris Island touring recruit training, and she wanted to try out the obstacle course the recruits were making such drama about. Those recruits certanly got an atttitude adjustment watching her play on that playground! Bottom line -- if you don't make a big deal about it in the service, and have regulations about how it must conform, then you'll have a lot less concern about it in general. As long as the (soldier, sailor, airman, Marine, etc) wears the rest of the uniform sharply and with honor, and performs to standard (hopefully strives to go above standard), then I see no problem with it. RED 2. I loved the first one, but even with the comics (DC and Marvel alike), subsequent films are usually underwhelming. But this one made me laugh harder than the first. (And I agree with you, Grue. Tom Cruise is a nutball, but he makes good films. Same with several other entertainers.) That stuff permeates everywhere! I used to wear it in college -- just a small bit mixed with another, less potent scent. It was still overpowering, though. I had no idea how potent it was, since I was around it all the time. I was at work one night (working in a blues bar), when one of my coworkers simply told me the scent was really strong. I apologized and immediately went to wash my wrists, and thanked them for pointing it out! Months later, when I hadn't worn it since, I noticed I could still smell it on the t-shirts I wore to work! (yes, even after multiple washings) Of course, that is about the level that is appropriate -- where it takes some one getting really close to you to notice any kind of fragrance. Too bad there isn't some socially acceptable way to tell perfect strangers that their chosen fragrance is too strong. Ha. Did you revert to being a bully again? Dude, I have authority to pull your Man Card over that! (on the other hand, in reply to your first question -- yeah, the frog is cute. But it does seem pretty scared, too.) See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

My sister emailed me to tell me that a shooting happened at OUR movie theater (we go there for the in-theater dining). Not only is there conversation/texting/etc during previews in the balcony, but they're serving FOOD! (All the dishes except standard movie snacks are picked up before the feature starts.) They are so adorable! It's scary that they're dying off from the heat. I certainly don't envy the residents there this fall, when the weather breaks and the bugs are terrible. Not enough bats to keep the insect population under control! The rescue is awesome.

That's awesome. I should do that here -- the Turks monitor our internet pretty obviously. Something like that would be hilarous! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

You don't need water, food, or shelter, as long as you have jesus
TriGirl replied to grue's topic in Speakers Corner
The difference is that YOU are helping people to survive. You are making a difference by helping to provide the basic necessity of life. In a situation where the people are worried about having something to eat and staving off life-threatening disease, not to mention needing (life-saving) shelter from the elements, I agree with Grue -- it seems unreal to me that this website is specifically soliciting donations just for bibles. If it were more along the lines of "donate just $10 and we will deliver a native-language bible and a box of food!" I could understand the application of the sentiment from that group. On a side note, thanks for helping the community, Ron. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump! -

I told you, you lost your turn! That's what you get for standing up a girl at a boogie. And at Fitz no less!! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Well, I consider we've already met, when we chat on Skype!

Yes, you have.

Me too! Haven't seen him around lately, tho. Met him at SDC at Nationals in '10. Went back to judge Nationals this year, but no sign of him. Then again, judges have no friends! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

The light was perfect that day, but it took several tries to get just the right shot. I was pretty happy with the result! Here's another from that "photo shoot" See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

shhh! Don't tell him that. It goes straight to his head!! Don't I know it. Moves always suck, and overseas moves suck more. It's awesome to have my best pal to help me get settled.

I thought I commented on it. I'm sorry! I was super impressed!!! I'm an attention whore...this is Rusty, another "rescue" lol. I've made friends with a worker at the local fish store who lets me have jacked up fish for free...they've all done well so far.. ETA: How could I forget my favorite, my striped peacock eel, Mugatoo (after Jacobim Mugatoo in Zoolander)....God I'm a loser NOT a loser! 1 -- fish are friends, not food! 2 -- between your homemade art and your beautiful aquarium - you live in an awesome home!
