  1. Shame on me, you're probably right... Had to be a marine...
  2. See, you should have followed my lead: I attended a university that didn't have a football team! (Oh, the horror, I know -- but it kept tuition much lower!) Of course, the school has soccer for both genders, and while Division II, at least one of the teams always made it to the playoffs. 3. My cat just turned 10 last week. He was never good with me trying to bring a "friend" into the house for him (even tiny kittens). He is currently living in his third country, and has made the cross-U.S. move a couple of times. I'm lucky -- he travels well (even in airplanes). He also does not get freaked out by any kind of move. I've taken him to stay with friends or at the local "pet hotel" if I'm out of town too long. He's happy to see me when I get back, but while I'm gone I've been told that he takes it all in stride. Location is not so important as the family. Princess will be happy to have her own family that doesn't change. The transition from her foster family to her permanent family might be a little tentative at first, but she'll relax after a little while. She is still quite young enough that she won't permanently feel like she's meant to be bounced around between humans forever. Incidentally, in reply to something else you wrote in your original post: this is the exact situation where you should say, "fuck it." From your first paragraph, it almost sounded like you decided to go in search of your pet. Once I realized you were so anxious to get THIS pet, then it all made sense, and everyone else's answers fell right in line with what I was thinking. The sooner you start that transition, the better. Go get her NOW!
  4. It would ahve been MUCH better with some jumping in it. BASE jumps would have played well (considering you don't have the wrinkly face in the wind effect, is all). That part you mentioned about flying -- looks like they just took some video of him singing into a large fan, then rotated it 90 degrees! But, I guess you can't have the guy singing (or lip synching, whatever) while really flying. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  5. that would drop her panties No. No, it really wouldn't. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  6. Saw it on the news this morning. I want one! (this from someone whose first bike was a 2001 Dyna Superglide).

    Itchy feet...

Sounds like my life. I just get to move all the time because I get ordered to do so (active-duty military).
  8. My mom did some trading with a family friend to take my photos -- and they sucked. I used one for the yearbook, and that's it. In the spring, closer to graduation, I asked a friend (who was into photography) to do it. I bought the film requested, we did all the shots around the yard (nice outdoor ones), and he handed me the completed roll of film. I paid for their develpment at the drugstore, then just bought the reprints/sizes I wanted (5x7s, 8x10s, sheet of wallet size). Worked out really well! 9. That's just nasty! My black bean soup is made with tequila, so it's much more fun. And I always offer up some Beano to guests before eating! I'm all for the eradication of chemical weapons. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  10. How about "Bubbles"? Now those are stripper names. Jenna is not!
  11. In reply to your original question (asking how it is "done" in other countries), I will say that many DZs actually invite a "bloodmobile" for a blood drive right on the DZ. The rule is that you cannot jump any more that day once you donate. I have not seen a rule that the limitation is extended for any more days after that (TK -- please chime in here with more complete information?). And a question of my own: how does a pheresis donation differ to the BPA? What if it is just WBCs and platelets donated, not plasma (hence no effects on volume)? 12. Brooklyn will likely get shortened to Brook when she goes through that stage of wanting to be like "everyone else." Personally, I don't think the full name (Brooklyn Leigh) flows as well when said out loud as your second option. However, since people are rarely addressed by all three names, (unless they're eight years old and in trouble!), I'd give my vote to Jenna. I've always liked that name, and know plenty of strong, talented women of that name (one is a Navy officer, the other a Marine pilot). Incidentally (to other posters), my cousin has a daughter named Kennedy. I've also known a couple of Indias, a Portland (yes, a woman), and of course we've all heard of women called Georgia, Virginia, Dallas, etc. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  13. 1) Here in Turkey, they put in what can loosely be described as a "roundabout." Same general principle, but too small to be of any real value, except to keep the Turkish drivers from cutting the turn too tightly and going into oncoming traffic (this really happens, mostly by taxis and bus drivers) 2) As for the "horns honking" and "broken glass" -- unfortunately, no one teaches American drivers that the right-of-way belongs to the car already in the roundabout. If they explain that when a new one is put in, like put up a road sign about 100m before, I'm sure it will all get figured out much more quickly. (this applies also to someone's earlier post about those "hesitant" drivers already in the circle -- if they don't know who has the right-of-way, of course they're going to hesitate!). 14. From a list of "rules of a gunfight," that I no longer know where to find in my files: -If someone kills you with your own weapon, it had better be because he beat you to death with it, since you ran out of ammunition. ETA: found it! Number 10. "10. Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty." rules for a gunfight See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  15. Wow, has it really been a year already since I saw you two last? Damn!! Wait -- that means I'm almost ready to come home. Awesome! Happy Birthday, Andrea! Looking forward to celebrating with you next time! Oh, and here's to you.
  16. As does Sunshine Factory at ZHills. Many of them do -- just contact the one closest to you and ask for availability and rates. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  17. And does that mean he deserved what he got? At least two separate issues, IMHO. And it isn't all just black and white. Several elements at play here, not just "traitor" or "hero." Lots of issues, each having many shades of grey. (Rush -- you were just the last one in the thread. Not just directed at your comments, but your list was a convenient launching point) See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  18. There were 7 different US Attorneyies Generals (3 appointed and 4 acting) during the last administration. FIFY! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

  20. Good luck, man. So bummed I won't be able to join. Stupid assignment system. I hope your event last weekend was a huge success! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

  22. It sounds like you're moving there for awhile? You said you need stuff to last longer than a few years. This indicates you might be taking more than one suitcase? When I moved to Turkey I bought a set of the spinners (doesn't really matter which brand, although I can look at it when I get home if need be). I can maneuver two suitcases with one hand through the airport because of the casters instead of lineal wheels. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

  24. http://rt.com/on-air/ukraine-referendum-sovereignty/ So I guess this will be portrayed as a scam of the Kremlin and that all these 'residents' are actually Russian insurgents, but the western media. There is no way that Kiev would be on the offensive if they did not have assurance from the US and NATO to do so... The 'people of Ukraine would be running Ukraine in a heartbeat. The soldiers would defect in a heartbeat. It will be interesting to see what the results are and how they are reported. When your source is "Russia Today"? BTW, who are you? Please fill in your profile data. You seem to have registered an account just to talk about this issue, yet you won't let us understand your background/interest.
  25. ^^This.^^ And someone's comment about not doing it if you were specifically told not to. While in flight school, we were told not to SCUBA, skydive, or ride motor cross (funny, they didn't say anything about street bikes). You wouldn't get in trouble if you were caught doing those things, but because we were told not to do them while in flight school, you could lose benefits if you died because of it. You also WOULD get in trouble if injuries suffered during one of those activities caused you to go "med down" (or worse, NPQ).
