  1. Mice and grasshoppers don't bother me.Right now I'm having a problem with a cricket.I'm not afraid of it or anything, its just hiding somewhere in my house and won't STFU! I've tried to find it to toss his little chirruping ass outside, but its sneaky and gets quiet as soon as I get close.I'm almost hoping my cat will find him and eat him even though crickets are said to be good luck.I just want the chirruping little fucker to be quiet so I can get drunk alone and in peace. ok drunken rant over...time for a refill. 2. and you didn't even call me? I woulda met you somewhere for drinks or rustled up a place to crash.Oh well, maybe next time. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  3. 1. Be honest. 2. Be careful who you trust. 3. Be open minded and willing to learn/experience new things. 4. True friends are priceless;treat them as such. 5. Live and love openly, passionately and without regrets. You may get hurt, but its the only way to live life completely. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

  5. The quality of mercy is not strained; it dropeth as the gentle rain from heaven; upon the place beneath; it is twice blessed; it blesseth him that giveth and him that takes. -William Shakespeare If there is any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not deter or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again. - William Penn We do not remember days, we remember moments. - Casare Pavese The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. -Helen Keller I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long a I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.I want to be throughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. Life is no 'brief candle' to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations. -George Bernard Shaw We cannot live onlt for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects. -Herman Melville Some day, after we have mastered the winds, the waves the tides and gravity we shall harness the energies of love. Then, for the second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire. -Teilhard de Chardin When you live for love you spread kindness and compassion everywhere you go.When you stop believing in your heart you are but a sterile vessel wandering in the wilderness. -Francis Hegmeyer The question is not wheather we will die, but how we will live. -Joan Borysenko Give light and the darknesswill disappear of itself. - Erasmus The heart that breaks open can contain the whole universe. -Joanna Macy How rarely we weigh our neighbors in the same balance in which we weigh ourselves. - Thomas a Kempis It is in the shelter of each other that the people live. -Irish proverb Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and dispair but manifestations of strength and resolution. -Kahil Gibran The best portions of a good man's life, his little, nameless, unremembered acts, of kindness and love. -William Wordsworth A man can do only what a man can do.But if he does that each day he can sleep at night and do it again the next day. -Albert Schweitzer The course of human history is determined, not by what happens in the skies, but by what takes place in our hearts. -Sir Arthur Keith By the accident of fortune a man may rule the world for a time, but by virtue of love and kindness he may rule the world forever. -Lao-Tse Our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks. -Dr. Johnson I keep my ideals, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. -Anne Frank "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  6. I was talking/making general conversation with a someone today and he said he enjoyed talking to/listening to me because he said I "had spirit". I thought that was a kinda cool thing to say. So how about you, whats the coolest/best compliment you've given or received lately? "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  7. LOL ok I'll settle for unique. I have been told I'm a very good cuddler.I guess thats something. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  8. Eh,well I put things off and wait til the last possible second to get things done, but they are always done/completed/turned in or whatever on time. I admit..I'm just goofy. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

    HELP!

Its almost impossible to keep your past relationships from affecting your current or furutre relationships.Any time you spend you emotional/mental energy on or with someone it will leave an emotional residue on your life.I was having a discussion with a good friend over the weekend about something similar. We tend to do a complete about-face, knee-jerk reaction after a breakup. We do the total opposite of what we had done in the past or date someone totally opposite from our ex in an attempt to avoid being hurt again by similar situations. Why? Our new emotional interest may not have anything in common with our past, be we compare, act out or sometimes(sadly enough) take out our frustrations/bad exerpiences w/our exs out on our new mate. Its hard.Maybe its just human nature,I don't really have the answers.Just keep it in mind that your new love interest is not your ex and has not hurt you or done the things that your ex has done.Just keep it in your mind that you are with your new interest not your ex.Don't write off one b/c you were hurt/had a bad experience with the other.Good luck.
  10. I think that is a cool idea. I know several people asked about me after I had a minor knee injury (totally my fault) at the end of my AFF training/first solo jump.Mostly it'd just be a passing "hey hows the knee?" if I happen to be at the DZ.It would be very cool to see some type of plan put into effect to help jumpers, especially students and low jumpers, to cope with an injury and its effects on their jumping (maybe help with any fear or concerns they have about jumping again once they are healed?Even a support "sit down and discuss it" type thing to help with mental/emotional fears/hangups they might be having now.)Its surprising how far a little peer support and understanding goes. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  11. On days I'd jump,I'd be worn out by the end of the day.All the mental concentration,practicing/dirt diving, and working your body so much in freefall and under canopy is bound to take its toll eventually. Then throw in the chemical aspects..adrenaline etc. and its effects.I'm also hypoglycemic so all the adrenaline and other chemicals play around with my blood sugar and I have a tendency to be worn out by the time the beer light comes on. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  12. It does take awhile to get things mailed out from USPA.They usually just send out a welcome type letter with a membership card and some member info about insurance etc.Give it a while longer and if it still isn't in after a month or so then maybe drop them an email or call.As for the DZ not letting you jump your level 5,I wouldn't worry about it.Alot of DZs just have you sign up for USPA around level 4 to get you familiar with it and in preparation for your A paperwork.I'm pretty sure they'll let you jump.Heck,I was an AFF graduate and doing solo/SDU jumps before anyone told me to get a USPA membership.
  13. I think I'm good at being a good friend/being friendly, giving good advice, remembering useless information like movie quotes, song lyrics etc., being a smartass, being habitually punctual, procrastinating, and expressing myself. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  14. I'm bad in math/science stuff, graciously taking a compliment, taking advice, relationships, keeping my temper or very strong emotions under control..ok this list could get really long so I'm just going to stop there. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  15. How about "I'm Kristi and I suck b/c I don't have to be in class and am on a vacation while all of you are in class or work." Yeah I think that would fit. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  16. Sounds like somehow you've managed to piss in the Cosmic Wheaties.Dont worry,it seems like several of us have been getting severely screwed in the karma department.Hopefully things will improve for everyone.Best wishes and .
  17. Heh.Thats sounds like the "Bob" way they organized at WFFC this year.Anyone with Bob,Bobby,Robert,Roberta,or any form of the name Bob in any part of their name (first, middle, last, or maiden) got together for a big "Bob"way. Forgot how many people ended up in the formation.Pretty crazy stuff. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  18. I agree.Theres nothing better than being with someone who knows exactly what will send you into orbit.Wheather you are teaching or learning its all a good time. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  19. Yeah, I just saw that in another thread a little while ago.Now I'm really glad I kept my clothes on LOL! So...um..how much could I bribe you with to accidentally erase that video? "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  20. Holy shit! That was on video?I agree with bytch..the video must die! I agree. But atleast I(we) managed to win the fight to keep my shirt on. I just hope there are no pics/video of me after I left the pool since we were all a bit cold and wet at the time. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  21. Well, hopefully there are no pics of that LOL!(it would totally devestate my innocent act I have going.) But it was a very interesting and fun night to say the least. Its not every day I get chased by 3 naked guys and a naked chick who are all trying to remove what clothing I still had on. Luckily I had someone to fight 'em off for me and I didn't drown in the struggle. Sorry we didn't get to say bye. When we left you were nowhere to be found.Glad we got to party with ya chick!
  22. I think everyone goes through these cutaway fantasies from time to time.Just the nature of the sport and the people in it.IMHO
  23. Fellow bonehead here. Although none of my landings are really what would be considered graceful, one in particular hit really hard.I heard my knee crack really loud and spent several months limping around on it before I went to a sports med knee specialist.Did the full series of tests..nothing showed up.So they told me to live with the pain.I finished AFF and did a few solos with my bum knee wrapped in a brace and had a few more hard landings. After not jumping for 8 months (due to lack of funds/hurt knee and personal crap) I finally went to an ostiopath who has grounded me for an additional 6 months while in physical therapy, which is to be followed by a series of injection therapy(can't jump during those either) after I finish PT.I hope I can get a second opinion.I have no idea when I'll be jumping again. Its my own fault for jumping/walking around on an injury for months which made things worse and not getting treatment sooner.I openly admit I'm a dumbass. My advice is,if you're injured get help, get treatment and let yourself heal.Don't overtax yourself and make the injury worse that it already is.Don't "try to live with the pain" thats BS IMHO. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
  24. Alot of these younger jumpers are as experienced as they are b/c their family owns the drop zone/jump planes they happen to jump. Also, there was a time when you could jump before you were 18 if you had parental consent and alot of paperwork filed.Good luck to you.
