things to pack for the trip to Rantoul.Help!
moodyskydiver replied to moodyskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Ok, I'll be flying out to Rantoul Thurs (almost there! almost there!) and I'm trying to get things organized to start packing for the trip. I have that nagging feeling that I'm forgetting something. So since I have the memory and attention span of a goldfish I need you're help! What are you packing? What do you normally forget or dont remember until you've already left the house?I'm looking for non-skydive related stuff since I'm just going to work/party this year. heres a rough list that I've started: WFFC pre-registration receipt $$$,ID,plane ticket/flight info, credit cards clothes:tshirts, shorts, jeans, jacket,PJs etc toiletries:soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste etc. shoes/sandals towels hairbrush, hair ties, hat, sunglasses etc. camping stuff: tent, sleeping bag, pillow, air mattress+air pump phone charger camera+memory card **Godiva chocolate liqueur to celebrate my b-day Aug12** Ok so what am I missing?HELP! Its kinda sad when you leave places you've made so many memories. My parents bought a new place a few years ago and have been slowly fixing up the old house where I spent most of my life from age 2-20. They havent even put up a for sale sign or talked to an agent about it and they already have 2 people waiting w/cash in hand just by word of mouth. I know its time to move on and let my parents enjoy their new place since its what they've always wanted, but I'm really goning to miss the old place. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

From my experience it kinda taste like a funnel cake or donut w/powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar on it.Yummy! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

My dad's family was in the nursery and landscaping business for years. I've heard them recommend sprinkling crushed up monthballs around the perimeter to cure unwanted critter problems. My aunt used to go postal every time deer would get into her meticulously manicured lawn and flowerbeds. My dad did the mothball thing for her yard and the deer went elsewhere. I dont know if it'll deter the rabbits but its worth a shot I guess.*shrug* "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Hey Lisa, I called Planned Parenthood about donating protection for WFFC (just to test the theory ofcourse) and they said "sure come pick them up." They gave me about 2 dozen. No, I'm not going to play "keeper of the comdoms". If you need them I'll probably leave some in the DZ.com tent or something as long as people dont get stingy and one person walks off w/the whole bag. Oh lord! I can just picture getting chased by a glow in the dark comdom. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Woohoo! More Leos! I'll be celebrating my b-day during WFFC (Aug 12). As for the sky birthday mine was on a boobie freezing January 26, 2002. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

What do you think about a skydiver that stiffs a rigger?
moodyskydiver replied to NightJumper's topic in The Bonfire
Man this sucks! I always think its so great hearing about how skydivers help each other or give back some how. Then things like this come along and ruin the nice "vibe" atmosphere. I think you should buy a bottle of Captain Morgan (maybe a smaller one for this purpose) and delicately pack it in your "friends" reserve the next time their due for a re-pack.Then the next reserve ride they have will include a good smack in the head from a bottle they owed for someone saying their ungrateful butt.Maybe it'll knock some sense into them. ...no, I'm not devious.... Thanks for the clarification (glad I gave the correct info). I vaguely remembered the spectator/pond area from last year.Unfortunately most of last year went by in a blur since I was only there to party. I'll be working during the entire convention this year so everyone feel free to drop by the Norman Kent Productions trailer and say hi! -

I think the student/tandem landing area is near the spectators. But I could be wrong. *shrug* -
My parents went to school with the guy who owned the "cool" car from the movie American Grafitti. I got a hug from Chris LeDoux at a bar in Dallas. (he had on some very nice cologne that night.) My grandfather met Roger Staubach. My grandfather sang at the Louisana Hay Ride during the same set as country music singer Ernest Tubb. I share the same hometown with country music singer Lefty Frizzell. While at a Waffle House in my hometown I looked up and saw Nolan Ryan walking in.(he was my favorite pro baseball player when I was a kid so ofcourse I was thrilled lol). I dont know if there are other women out there who've had this problem, but this bugged the crap out of me.(This is by no means directed at every guy or meant to be a generalization about all guys.) The biggest pet peeve I have right now is that, when you talk to a guy you've been intimate with in the past...ex-bf, friend w/benefits,fling,whatever you want to call it... he all of a sudden starts talking about sex. He'll either manipulate the conversation to turn it into something sexual or blatently change the current unrelated topic or (what pisses me off even worse) he'll call/come over and start talking to you for no other reason than to talk about sex. I dont mean in a flirty way either. Example him: "hey how're you doing?" me: "good just doing some school stuff.you?" him:" I'm good. damn I'm horny..."[explicit details following] WTF?!? Yes sex is a big topic on alot of guys' minds, I understand that. But give me a break, there ARE other things in life (like skydiving lol) that you can talk about. Yes I know we've had sex in the past (remember I was there afterall) but that doesnt mean that it will ever happen again nor does it give him the right to keep bringing it up like I owe it to him to talk about it just b/c we have a sexual history together. If sex is literally the only thing you can have a conversation about then don't talk to me.Either grow up or call a 900 number and stop bugging me. *stepping off soapbox* ok rant over..sorry.Carry on. Thats so cool that you finally got in touch with your friend. Finally talking to or seeing an old friend after being out of contact is such a great feeling.

Definitely true. Yeah ok, keep telling yourself that. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Ok, am I ever going to live that down?I've already made it my goal to be quieter this yr. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Exactly! I heard somewhere that the good toys all have multi-speeds ranging from "slow" to "medium" to "who needs a man?" In all honestly, I'd rather have both.Men have their uses sometimes. (I just cant remember what those uses are at the moment. Its been too long!) "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Too long ago to mention w/o getting moody about it lol. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

because you never know how much longer you will have such a blessing. With my transfer to a new college and on-campus living arrangements looming in the very near future I've had to make some serious decisions.Today I had to give my sweet little Boston Terrier to her new home. It was a sad moment made easier only by the fact that she would be returning to her original owner (my ex-brother-in-law). I know he'll take great care of her and she'll be a beloved playmate for his daughter.Around this time last year, I lost my childhood pet to old age.Now I've given up yet another old friend and still have the task of finding a good home for my 2 ferrets aswell. Lately I've really come to regret taking my pets for granted for so long.Pets are one of the greatest gifts life has to bestow upon us.The unyielding devotion, love and companionship of a pet should always be cherished. So please, take some time to appreciate your little friends today. -
Yup.Rantoul has some cool locals. Last yr near the end of the convention the owner of the Liquor Locker came by the dz.com tent and told us how much he loved us and that if they didnt have something we wanted then to give him some notice before this year's convention and he'd have anything we wanted waiting on us when we got there.

Feedback: new anti-spam changes
moodyskydiver replied to moodyskydiver's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
Just wanted to say thanks for the latest anti-spam changes. I've noticed a dramatic difference in my DZ.com InBox. For a while I just let my usage limit max out or stopped using this address because I was receiving an average of 50-60 spam emails per day.Since the new anti-spam changes I've only received 5-10(sometimes less) spam emails per day.My important emails are still getting through and the junk decrease is great! Thanks!
