    Square1

I've tried to contact square1 rigging on several occasions and heard nothing back from them. First I placed an on-line order and received no confirmation, then I tried emailing them, then phoned them twice but no one answered. Is it just my timing or is no one there? As I could really do with some new goggles, new velcro alti stap, new knife etc.. not many plaves seem to sell replacement wrist straps for the alti 3. Am I just unlucky?

  6. Yea, Top night ...considering I only got telephoned at 6pm ( after doing a 8 hour shift ) and told that I wasn't as far away as I thought, got my arse into gear and drove up although I didn't have my penguin suit with me. As for Sunday....it involved a 10 hour shift at at double time!! (should pay for the cypress service this month!) ( Bex, where were you most of the night? never seen you once all night... I know, I know.... At the bar! ;-) )

  8. Yea, pain in the ass all that. The software will only import mp3's that are recording at a certain bit rate, antything over or under is not import. I just downloaded a mp3 to wav converter and it had options to output again in mp3 format, but at a specified bite rate. ( Can't remember the name as I'm working away from home! ) I would recommend that you get an mp3 player unless you really need Mini discs. Ric
  9. Camera man has both feet on the wheel, facing the rear of the plance and exits eith a fraction of a second before or at hte same time. The other two who just do what they want. The Camera man can then fall down and get the plane and both of the jumpers in view. Looks cool! form every angle, especially when you get the rear float camera on the jumper on the wheel falling out to the side from the front wheel!!

Yea, have to say it was pretty cool seeing them bouncing off everything. One of the best bits was where one of them jumped accross from what looked like one balcony to another. quite a distance. He did a full 360 during the manover and kicked off te wall three times before landing on the other balcony object. Cool! I thought some of the camera work could have been better, especially on the two story boat jump. As was hard to see just how high the guy really was. but then I reconed that they were saving some of the best stuff for a vid or something. Yea.. very cool!
  14. There should be coaching avaliable but it will be very busy. I think it's more for people who have their AD licences. but they have asked for people to come and try out for the liecences if you do not have one. Also, Not 100% but I don't think you need a cypres over there. Cause I did a few jumps with serveral people that did not have one! Have a great time over there, it's a great place.
  15. I have not inspected my kit yet but when I do ( I will look tonight! ) how will I know if my pin is from the batches they are requiring testing on? Is there a serial number on the pull handle that the pin and cable are threaded through. Will it be detailed in my papers where the serail number of the container is??? does it only apply to rigs that were manufactured between a certain dates??
  16. I've been stopped at the check-in desk before at Standstead and Edinburgh. During the first half of this year I was flying down every 3-4 weeks and of-course took my rig with me as excess baggage. Both times I was stopped was at the check in desk because the person behind the check-in desk didn't think that parachutes were allowed as part off the excess baggage allowance. I mangaed to convince one of them once that I do it every time I fly with Easyjet and there should be no reason whey this time I have to pay. And the other time I had to go over to the easy jet desk and get the representitive to check on their own list that they were allowed. She said that it mentions nothing about parachuting equipment, only paragliding equipment. At which point I started to get worried about paying for the excess which I'd successfully mangaged to take on for free, 3-4 times before. I said I thought it was a bit unfair that golfers and the likes could take them on for free but I'd have to pay and she agreed and let me on with it for no extra charge. I plan to do the same when I go to Italy, which is an easyjet / BA flight combo. For info, I've had no problems on BA flights. I never even mentioned that my other bag was sporting equipment and they took both my bags! Nice one BA!

    favorite song

It changes all the time but at the moment I've got Coldplay in my MD player. so it has to be the best track on the album....Clocks! A very very dreamy song. Can't really make up my mind up what feelings I have when I listen to it. they're very mixed. hmm . a clearness .. somethimes brilliant blue skies... happyness .. and somethings almost sad.. great track for looking out the window of car sunny day!
  18. I'II tell you tomorrow. I'M on two BA Flights tomorrow morning! :-) Going to Sweden for a weeks skydiving. Yipee!!! Ten days of skyvan!!!!
  19. Go mine around 60ish. I decided to just rent until then as I wanted to be able to get down to a canopy size that was around a 150. I had been using a PD170 before then and didn't want to buy one as I thought I'd get board. No point in buying a 170 when I culd have aited for a few jumps and got a 150 that will last me ages. Apart from the minging colors my Saber is alright, the J1 container has it all and is great!
  20. I use anything that is avaliable to me including... plastic bank cards, coins, pen tops, nail clippers, finger nails, hard pastic things, when the going gets tough. I tend to lose plectrums on a daily basis! but generally a medium strength plectrum for the accuracy and a really thin one for stummy stuff. I've got a few specialisted ones that have jaggy edges on them that make cool sounds when stum in the right direction but at the end of the day I like to finger pick.

    My lucky Day!

Wendy, That is one excellent idea! Thanks I will have to look into that one. I have until May to book everything so that might be an excellent option. A Grand tour of Italy, which will include visiting as many DZ's as possible in two weeks. wait......three weeks!!! [Richard smiles away] I've not been able to stop grinning all day at work. oh oh! And today is my last day working in Edinburgh, I'm flying down to England to work down south for a month! Hope my luck extends to Valentines Night, I think a trip to a club is in order tonight!! too see what I can make happen for myself!

    My lucky Day!

Thanks Skymama, I do need someone to look after me when I'm travelling. I'II put your name on the list of possible travel buddies. Quite high up of course! I think Iceland is on the list of European destinations for Brittish Airways even although it is not on the list. Now that would be great! Even if it meant no jumping for a week. Wonder if Iceland has a DZ? hmm...

    My lucky Day!

I just won two free return tickets to any destination in Europe from Edinburgh. So now the dilemma!!!! Where to go? Thats were you guys come in... I need to get as far away from here ( Scotland!) as possible and be able to jump at a nice big DZ. cos I'm going to take my rig on the trip. Any suggestions?? I have been thinking though that if I go somewhere like Barcelona then I can jump at Emporia( spelling!!) but the thing is that I'm pretty sure that in my jumping career that I'm going to get to Emporia so I don't know if I want to waste this opertunity to go there, knowing that in a couple of years I will be back with friends! catch my drift? What I think I'm looking for is somewhere that I wouldn't normally go to due to my jumping as I'm more than confident that I will get to France and Spain soon enough. Don't want to waste this opportunity! Ideas?
  25. Although I'm in Scotland, I now, after a take over, work for an American company. This is an (slightly) amended email we got from the big yins in Seattle. Hope you can all see the humor in this version! To all Employees: Today, the United States raised the national alert level for possible terrorist threat from the pink "paranoid" level to the burgandy "slightly more paranoid" level in accordance with advice from Uncle Bob who had a "bad feeling" about today. The increase to burgandy occurs when the U.S. government gets slightly more paranoid than usual about it's citizens and just generally fels like annoying them a bit more by inflicting that paranoia upon it's citizens. In accordance with the raised security levels we wil now be stopping 1 in every 100 people at the airport (thus doubling security there) and randomly checking your bags cos we dont like your face and think you might be a dealer. Please note that the US Government is not biased against muslims which is why we would like all muslims to report to your nearest immigration centre where you will be detained for an indefinate period of time. The safety of our employees and continued safe operations of our facilities around the world are our highest priority...actually thats a lie our property's worth more so could you all if you feel you are likely to get shot please stay away from work as we wouldn't want the office to be closed while the police and FBI investigate, forcing other people not to work would be very inconsiderate! We encourage all employees to be particularly diligent in following all security and safety procedures at their facilities and while traveling so that means if you get on the bus and there happens to be a fat man on there, beware he may be a suicide bomber...or just fat. At this time, there are no changes to CompanyX's security or existing travel restrictions as currently most travel is restricted anyway. The current guidelines remain in effect. If you have questions about the current travel or security guidelines and restrictions, you may call Corporate Security at 1-800-WHOCARES.
