Does anyone know why there is not random formation 'I'? H is BOW and J is DONUT. But where is the I. Did i miss something on english language lessons or what :) z

I think the bests are the prime number sized formations :) Sometimes I do not really understand the point of these numbers ... anyway, few of my jump bodies called me freak when i was celebrating more my 1024th jump then my 1000th :) the profession makes it. z

I jumped D1 and UT both in Hungary. D1 is/was the static line student program starting canopy. Its material is like T-sheert but tehe canopy has a decent size of something like 800 sqft or so. So it brings you down gently but on a very recognisable way :) The UT is a great canopy. I did not have hard openings on it and my impession is quite a good. Turns (spins? :)) fast as Stiletto but it is wobbling after radical togle input... so it is same dangerous to take low turns as nowdays :) In general it is true that UT is better then PC it was proved on the accurecy world meets back in golden ages :) Old stuff are cool and i recommend to all modern skydivers to learn about these techs as long we have folks around who can share their knowledge :) z

Well, i have been in few 100+ funels. After everybody realized that no way to build not even the base...the motto was "track for your life". :) I have neved made so flat, so long, so agressive tracking.. and I have never pulled so low. z
-
"I definitely do..." it might be question of taste, but whenever formation i track off i keep watching around me. Let's say even on a 4way i try to keep my bigway skills (those very few) up-to-date. You know in Europe we do not have so often opportunity to jump biger way then 23. So flat long tracking is something i like to practice even after a 2way. " It's not rocket science, it just takes a bit of practice. " Exactly that is what i try to communicate :) as well. "They are both RW but they're different animals." yes.. but 4way and 100way funels for the same problems... not technical but mental... lack of focus, disciplines and nerves. Otherwise i fully accept your points, blue skies z

Thnx for the offer, I wish to have the same offer from all cameraflyers around the world :) and i wish that all jumpres respect the camera flyers. And i wish sometime i will hav the opportunity to jump at Byron The exposed roll of film i would not expect since it is the only data carrier in analog photos. About the cold... ;) you know we damn foreigners are just stupid.... and get well, drink vodka and eat garlic and go to a sauna :) it works z

Holes cut into the ribs on my new Cobalt!
Zoltan replied to andrewstewart's topic in Gear and Rigging
Yes, These are the things why in Europe -according to my knowledge- in all FAI countries the students have to pass several written and practical tests and exams before they got out from the student status and got right to jump with their own rig. These tests and exams make sure that the damn ass student is not only falling out of that plane but has some basic knowledge about aerodynamics and the functionality of the parachute and at least knows the name of all part in it and they have to learn why for they are there.... When i started parachuting (I use this word instead of skydive) a good friend of mine said that learn and remember all small details on your rig, many people died during the development of the modern parachutes and rigs. Every small feature has many names on it, those name who gave their life in order to draw the attention of great inventors and riggers to develop a safer and better stuff for us. And I say it seriously. If anyone outhere is proud not to know some basic thing about the equipment he/she is jumping with the he/she should sit down and think about those heroes who gave their lives to this sport. It is all about respect. And to the topic opener.. remember, there are no stupid questions in this sport, never. Blue skies -
"I have a horrible cold, and I'm in a pissy mood" tell me about cold... it is 39F outside and raining :( "If I don't protect the income potential it has, I'll never realize my dream..." I absolutely respect your dream and believe me that I'm happily paying all the fees camera flyers charging me. All a wish that for my money I receive a good quality stuff.. and a VHS dump of a high quality digital material is not a good quality stuff according to my measurements. And according to my experiences do non professional camera flyers are always ready to copy the video in digital format and make a good quality photo without ads on it and the professional (who make their living from it) usually just gives a vhs tape (if) and sells me a photo with their name on it :) I think what you call "income protection" in some cases just unnecessary lack of trust. Why do not they just copy the digital version of the video and tell me how badly they kick my ass if a distribute it without their permission?
-
You missed the point dude :) Being cut from a load means that a person is axed, kicked out from a formation load, because of safety problems or because of different experience level. I've seen people being cut from a dive on Herc boogie because they were too good :) z
-
Yes, I believe that all hobby camera flyers has the same attitude as you have. But those who make their living from camera jobs do it on a different way.
-
yes, but why the same camera person refuses to give a copy of the data even with the note that the data is still legally belongs to the camera flyer? Anyway i feel the legal part of the issue a bit shaky since as i know most of the cameramen do not have a proper contract with the person they film and usually the payment is more like a personal action then a business. z
-
Brother :) You would be suprised if you would know more details about the parachuting of the ex-communist block. For example the jumps were free untill the end of 80's :) Civil parachuting was a semi-military activity respected and sponsored by the state. I think even in the States there are many guys from the other side of the wall built during the cold war. Just sit down with a cold one after a good jump day on a busy DZ and ask the russian, hungarian, slovakian, etc fellow who is packing, filming and jumping tandem or AFF there at let him speak :) you will be suprised how different was and is the same sport outside of the States :) z
-
Yes, i understand the legal points and i understand that without contract nothing has even happened :) I am talking about the fairplay side of this coin. z

Bazmeg ... :) just because this is my original language :) Baszni iz good as well :)

I love it... I'm going to be there :)

"If I take your picture because you hired me to do so, you payed for it, so it's yours (the original + publishing rights)." I have very much the same feelings. The problem is that I'm too european so my personal opinions upon legal/moral issues are a bit different then in the New World :) If you know what i mean :) The problem with commercial cam jobs at some DZs is that there is no exact contract you hire the cameraman... at least i do not remember if there is any. I'm happy to pay camera folks. They do an incredible valuable work with expensive equipment and they even take some extra risk in the sport. It worth the money.. The problem is that i do not have the data. I tell you an example... We were jumping on a great DZ with great organizers and great camerajumpers. We made wonderful jumps and on every jump we paid the camguys in cash... and all i got is the right to see my jump on a bad quality TV from an old VHS tape. Which is perfect for briefing but some of the camerapeople refused to copy the row (i.e. digital) data. z
-
Finland is OK. Here if i ask a cameraman he/she happily copies the row data or makes me the best quality paper photo he can and charging only for the expenses he has. What I was writing is mostly about the commercial skydiving over the big water :) z
-
Hello cameraflyers, I have a question in my head for a long time and I hope that you might have the answer. Please do not take it personal I'm just a simple european skydiver not even a cameraflyer :) I love camera people, you show the points to the judges and you make it possible to enjoy the dive virtually again and again. So the question is that who's property is the picture made of me during the freefall, or the video data recorded on the tape? I pay his/her slot, I pay some extra over the slot and then I might have the chance to buy the paper copy of the photo or a reduced quality video usually for a fortun. Note that I am not talking about the tape nor the film. Just the data, the row data. I understand that some of you make your living from camera job. But still what rights (morally and not legally) we have, we who actually appear on the video or on the photo? So how it is going, what can i expect? z

I do not track any different after a 4way then after a 100+ way, maybe shorter or longer sometimes, but with the same speed and same intensity same technique. I wave of even before deploying my reserve :) the routines are burned in the nerves and the muscles. I do not fly any different a 2way then a 10 way line in a 60 way. Expecting the unexpected... being ready to react if something happens. And 4 way can funnel for the same reason as a 100+ way. I still do not believe that this big way stuff is a magic. I have seen on the 2points 120 way 5-600 times jumped novices performing perfectly without any special big way experiences and sometimes I see skygods screwing up badly. Imho being a good 4way jumper is way more difficult then to be a good big way jumper. But I do not say that big way is easy or piece of cake. I just say that being a good big way jumper does not require more then being a well controlled, focused, jumper in general with proper nerves and attitude. z

Been there-done that-got the Tshirt :) The event was full success. 120 way 2 point World Record is set and the formations were well built and nice to fly. The organizers and the ground stuff made a great job. The participants has a respectable dedication and skill level. It was great to be a part of it. Thanx for all. Zoltan

"If you can learn all that doing 2 or 3-ways, why does Airspeed (among others) offer big way training camps?" If I were an ironic ass (I'm actually
-
"Which skills? Not big-way skills, that's for sure." ??? I think you are mistaken here. What is the big-way skill anyway? Jup out, dive close to the formation in your own sector, stop 1 meter higher and 2-3 meters far from your slot and dock when your slot is ready. Do not be earlier in your slot then the jumpers in fron of you. Fly your slot and track away flat and long, wave off and look around and pull. Land safely without agressive canopy manouvers. So which part you can not practice in 2-3-4 way?
