  2. I remember seeing some sort of material in a science forum somewhere that becomes firm when charged with electrostatic pulse or sth ridiculous. To better visualize think of a limp rope but with a push of a button or sth becomes stiff as wood. Now apply that to the wings of the suit along with some curvature now the pilot won't be as fatigued when BASE jumping and maintaining full flight when desired. So in that conclusion I foresee future wingsuits implemented with this device/material with the push of a button somehow? 10. Apparently its one of the young tunnel rats that is proficient in head down. Now I'm not stating that its ok because of that or condoning this behavior in any way, but just stating the "student" was a tunnel rat For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  11. I personally began my AFF and received my A license within the same month. I had 30 jumps before purchasing and did PLENTY of research and A LOT of asking questions around the DZ including instructors and fun jumpers. I got my A in Sep of 09 and placed my order for my brand new customized rig in Nov 09. Also must admit I'm a very thorough type of person which therefore lead me to be addicted to researching gear and canopies. But to answer your question of whether you'd be ready to know which gear you'd like after 25jumps is entirely dependant on your personality and your curiosity and time. G'luck finding something, but don't rush it if you're not absolutely positive about it. Better to be patient and know rather than impatient and purchase the wrong gear for yourself. Have fun! 13. So i came across on facebook PD's question of what was your canopy progression and thought that I'd like to see and ask everyone here on Dropzone Found a few others threads but they were from way back when For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
  14. I'd highly recommend first getting your license prior to thinking about which canopy you'd like to initially purchase. All in all though your instructors would be great people to ask and talk to about regarding your initial canopy purchase. But both of those wingloadings seem "reasonable" depending on what choice of canopy of course,(but then again I've never seen you fly nor am I an instructor)... Safire2, Spectre, Pulse, Storm, Silhouette etc etc I know its quite difficult, but highly suggested to wait till you finish and receive your A license. Be safe and have fun! 18. Usually a larger baggier FF suit is meant for heavier people who have trouble staying with lightweights such as I (exit weight of 140lb). A larger FF suit will also make it somewhat easier to FF initially but allows you less room for movement because after a certain size all that you can do basically is just sit there. I've heard it hinders your flying ability as later on down the line when you improve you'll have to unlearn the bad habits that you developed within the baggy suit because you can get away with bad form. A tighter one will help you to fall at a faster fall rate as there is less drag, but initially will be a wee bit more difficult to learn how to FF in. A guy your size I'd definitely recommend a semi tight/regular fit FF suit. G'luck flying out there and learn well ! 19. Have a look at my Facebook page, there are three videos from three days of a fairly experienced, taller and lighter dude flying an Rbird. I'm in my P2. Watch me climb on him on every jump @breakoff. Yes...it's the pilot but... This guy has 150 jumps on an Rbird, is taller and lighter. IMO, it's sad that so many guys go for the "mattress" concept vs learning to fly their body, learning to be (your words) more precise, agile. Learning to fly your body is more important than anything, IMO, and once you have that down... the suit doesn't matter much. It's a tool to enhance what your body already knows to do. Either way, you'll have fun. These *are* both great suits, and that's why they're difficult to choose. Could you please provide the name of the video on your page? Many thanks!
