Well you are right and it kinda proves my point, a theory should be a group of facts that lead to it, which the pancake theory does not seem to be. I think I could look all over google for years I will keep stumbling on two facts: The south tower fell in 10 seconds, and it takes at least 10 seconds for a bowling bowl dropped from the top of the tower to hit the ground... I am not even out of student status but I seem to recall it takes a jumper around 10 seconds to reach terminal velocity, and it also takes about 1000ft to do so. Tower is 1360ish feet and drops in 10ish seconds. I haven't seen anything on the internet that disproves those numbers. I am not saying the tower was brought down by a demolition team or shot from space by a laser (yes it is something I heard, funny one too). I am just looking at the physics numbers and something is WAY off don't you think? "Common sense is not so common" - Voltaire Dudeist Skydiver #9

Humm I am no engineer, but I remember my physics lesson pretty well.. A building will NOT fall in freefall speed (you guys know about freefall speed right?). Something breaking down will not fall at the speed of freefall, it has to be brought down to do so. This does NOT imply an inside job, it just obviously proves that a plane does NOT bring down a building at the speed of freefall. I really don't want to start a new heated argument on that subject, and would LOVE for someone giving me an OBVIOUS scientific fact that supports the "pancake theory" (Note the use of THEORY in official documents...) thx :) Edit: best quote from the AE911 site: YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR OWN OPINION, BUT NOT YOUR OWN FACTS. You can find most of them here on the right side of the page, albeit in a small format: http://www.skydive-safety.com/Articles_staying_safe.htm "Common sense is not so common" - Voltaire Dudeist Skydiver #9

You were born with the best Anti-Virus ever... your brain :) Seriously tho, just watch what you click on and you should be virus free Anti-Virus are just a marketing scam. Anyone can spread an old registered virus by just changing a few lines of code so that it is no longer "recognized". So there you have it, an old know virus spreading just like it never got caught ^^ Be smart on your clicking and everything should be fine :) If you are already infected by a bunch of virus and malware/spyware whatever, you are better off formating... Hey everyone :) I am not the instructor but the student on that one haha, figured you guys might like another AFF video :) This one is of my level 6 and 7. I was out of the video frame for my barrel on lvl 7 but the video is still pretty cool. Thing is if I didn't drop down while doing my barrel it had to be a good one hahaha Big up to the guys at Elsinore, my new skydiving family!!! Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did doing the jumps!!! Can't wait to get to my solos!! http://www.vimeo.com/7915232 (oh I get the pull signal on the last jump but pitched by 4500ft easily ;) We got too eager and did an extra 360 at the end loool) "Common sense is not so common" - Voltaire Dudeist Skydiver #9

Thanks for you guys input on this :) I think that the most important thing is going into that "I will need to roll this one out" and get ready for it. How ever you plan on rolling it... I agree that the parkour or gymnast roll will take a lot more practice and require to be way more athletic than a PLF. The second video of david belle shows the 'proper' pk roll much better. He is jumping from higher than 12ft and you can see how he keeps his legs together when landing. Also if PLF has been used for years in skydiving hard landings there has to be a good reason ;) "Common sense is not so common" - Voltaire Dudeist Skydiver #9

Here is a pretty good tutorial on the PK roll: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgPd29MlHpg See how high he jumps off on the last roll. He has a decent forward momentum and drops from pretty high. Really ressembles a landing you would want to PLF from right? I am still a n00b so maybe the risers and the gear would be in the way if you wanted to do a PK roll... Here is another with just PK rolls in slowmo from David Belle, one of the best french parkour dudes :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=781IFGmmbgE "Common sense is not so common" - Voltaire Dudeist Skydiver #9

*drools on the tree...* I am just getting into the sport and been reading these boards since my AFF 1 lol... Just wanted to say that I am stunned by bigway's offers on gear and how KK will lend you gear until your custom stuff gets done. Insane customer service. And now you are out there lending out complete spanking new rigs for free!!! Just so other people in the sport can have fun and enjoy their boogies with their buddies. Well, I guess I just wanted to say that dude, you rock! Way to handle your business!!! "Common sense is not so common" - Voltaire Dudeist Skydiver #9

I was wondering if the forward roll you see often used in Parkour videos wouldn't work better than a PLF? I mean any time I had to jump off a somewhat high object, I used that roll and it went fine... Seems like you get a much more fluid forward motion/roll. Is there something specific with the PLF that makes it better for hard landings? I mean these Parkour guys are dropping from pretty high using their forward landing roll... Just plugging in the boys at Elsinore next to Perris :) Been doing my AFF there and it's been just perfect! As others said weather can be a big set back if you only have a few days to jump. I also don't live in the US and had to plan my A license in different trips. I'd suggest getting to AFF 7 on your first trip, which should take no longer than 4-5 days of jumping. If you go all the way to AFF 8 and have to wait for a while before coming back you will have to redo more levels to be current than if you stopped at lvl 7 ;) Then come back for a good week and jump as much as you can to get your 25 jumps for the A and even some extra ones. California is a really good place to go jump since it barely never rains there :) Blue skies buddy!! "Common sense is not so common" - Voltaire Dudeist Skydiver #9
