Bye bye fellow skyfallers. It's that time in my young life when priorities shift and certain things have to go on the back burner. I just recently graduated college, moved home, and now it's time to officially go off to Chicago and start my own life. And while I love skydiving, seeing a couple grand worth of gear laying in the closet relatively unused just didin't make sense. Sold my rig to my awesome sauce home DZ as a rental rig, shipped off my alti and jumpsuit today, and now I'm reminiscing all the great times I had with the messed up fuckers that are skydivers. Of course I'll still chime in unncescesarily on the forums from time to time, but I don't think I'll be seeing any of you at the DZ any time soon. It's been real kids.... (Side note: I fucking love this community. Selling my rig to the DZ was easy since I knew he owner very well so shipping/payment wasn't a hassle. I sold my alti and RW suit to rando's through the forums and what a delight it was to still have some honest, trustworthy people in the world. Sent me the money without a lot of fuss, trusted I'd ship the gear (which I did), I get $, they get gear. Damn I'm gonna miss this) Seacrest out

Couple weeks ago at work, I was running a one of the shops brand new Hwacheon vertical lathes, running about a 250 lbs cast iron part when we had an electrical surge and it jumped my tooling into the part. Basically, imaging a 250 lb hunk of metal spinning at 500 rpm, being stopped cold in its tracks by a tool. Long story short, it ripped the part from the jaws, sent it flying through the operator window, narrowly killing me, and sending me home to get a fresh pair of underwear. Not a fun day when a $300,000 machine gets crashed and your the one at the controls, regardless if its your fault.

Having worked at my university's bookstore in the purchasing department, I saw first hand what a rip off it was to the students. We did have some professors that would create their own book and have up print them out for like $7, but we also had teachers require books that students never used then we wouldn't buy them back because they switch to the new version every year. Now, not everyone has to buy books at this university. The only students who do are graduate students and students taking weird classes. I never paid for a textbook in my undergrad. We had a rental system and the fee was tacked on to our tuition. I paid right around $99 a semester to rent texts for all 5 classes, kept them in good shape, and returned them at the end of the semester. Best system imho
