CO - Send money, guns, and....oh hell, just send boats!
JohnnyMarko replied to ryoder's topic in The Bonfire
Yea...Cherry Creek Trail in downtown is gettin a lil high...can't decide if I should go for my bike ride tonight or not -
I was only 11, didn't even know what the World Trade Center was. I still remember my teacher turning on the news, watching a skyscraper collapse then they shut it off. Watched as a classmate of mine was pulled out of class to have his parents tell him that he lost his brother collapse of the South Tower. Crazy looking back 12 years now how we all remember every detail of that day, realizing how it affected us personally, as a nation, and as a world.

Does skydiving ever get boring?
JohnnyMarko replied to flycoop's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You sound like me....fall in love with one thing, go all out, get bored, move on... You name it, I've done it...minus anything ocean related...I hate the ocean... Got into jumping in college, got licensed, had my fun, sold all my gear to fund new hobbies like I always do, haven't jumped in over a year...I plan on getting back into it this Spring though...I miss the sky, nothing like it...see you in March, Mile-Hi Skydiving ETA: DON'T SELL YOUR GEAR. Worst decision I ever made. -
I dumped right below a cameraman on a sunset/night 5 way and pee'd myself

A gay man's rant (about blood and organ donation)
JohnnyMarko replied to JohnnyMarko's topic in Speakers Corner
I've come to the conclusion that I'm just going to lie on the questionaire and donate blood and organs and hope the system catches anything that may be wrong with my blood. What's the worst that can happen? *totally kidding, but wonder how many people out there that aren't like me that just lie and donate anyways. -
A gay man's rant (about blood and organ donation)
JohnnyMarko replied to JohnnyMarko's topic in Speakers Corner
Some background: I'm gay (if you don't know me or haven't read my posts). I just moved and set up residency in a different state. So I haven't been able to donate blood (something I did a lot before I was sexually active). But now that I've had protected sex with a male or two, I'm no longer allowed to donate blood. Regardless of my precautions of safe sex, I get tested and have nothing tested positive for anything. Yet, the simple fact that I partaken in sex with another male (which, over the last 2.5 years, has only been one since I'm kinda engaged), I am no longer able to donate blood. And since I just recently set up new residency and did the whole DMV thing blah blah blah, when I was asked I wanted to be and organ donor. I declined, since I automatically assumed since I can't donate blood, organs are a no-go. When asked why (which I made a formal complaint that the bitch should not have asked why), I politely said I have sex with males so I can't donate blood which I thought would disqualify me from donating organs...yet...she said I could still sign up...ummmmmm fuck you...so, I answer a questionnaire truthfully when I go to donate blood and am denied, yet, if something happens they'll take my organs? No thanks, I'll donate the $1 and move... Why am I writing this? I feel like medicine is advanced enough to be able to test blood whether it's 'at risk' or not... -

Anyone have a good recipe for peach preserves? Yes, I googled, mostly just sugar and peaches...anyone have a secret they wanna tell me?

Flying the p*ss out of a canopy.
JohnnyMarko replied to DocPop's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I like to think of this as a good start... http://www.bigairsportz.com/pdf/bas-sizingchart.pdf -
Loooooooooove my silhouette. Easy to pack, opens great, easy to fly and land at a lil over 1:1. Definitely demo one.

hahaha. Exactly my thoughts as well I'm not bitter bro,,,just annoyed and think the answer "try using the search feature" is warrented. Every week, here on the forums we get some yahoo finishing up AFF or still in student status asking about buying a rig. And every week we get the same replies such as "you don't need to buy gear at this point", "you should rent", "you should take a canopy course", "get new if you have money", "get used if you are broke and don't have a job", etc etc etc. People otta try using the search feature before they start posting the same about a topic that's been thoroughly discussed. Am i not correct? So instead of gear, they should be focused on say, asking out your instructors? Read the post, ignore it, and move on.

Why are you so bitter? Were you ever a student or did you just start out at 1,000 jumps?

Pussy. I love hearing people saying they did Evans...parked and walked right up

I was probably over cautious with that (well, should never say that)...I was on the trail by 7am...It makes me cringe whenever I'm ending a route and seeing people just start mid day and I tell them that storms can move in quick and they just say thanks and start anyways ...granted, non of them last long, considering they're all wearing shorts n tshirts, less than adequate footwear, and normally only have one bottle of water...

Normally, I'd agree...Bierstadt is a very well traveled trail, cars visible all the way to the top, lots of groups going up and down, not too risky as far as soloing goes...

Such a good day, had to share with everyone. I moved to Denver 6 days ago and I'm already in love with my new lifestyle...didn't have much planned yet so I decided to tackle my first 14er (14,000+ ft mountain peak)... Made it up and down Mt Bierstadt in just around 2.5 hours...such a good (and very mild) climb to the top, such a great accomplishment for me, and amazing views from the top... Then to top it off, I got a call on my way driving back down 70 that I landed a job! Life is geeewwwwwwd

Bump... My latest piece, 2 year anniversary present for my better half. Made mostly out of an old bench I found on the side of the road, aluminum from an old grill in a junkyard, and some old decking. Basically the only thing I pay for when I make these is the paint. If you dont know what the Chicago flag looks like ETA: aosdghaklrhqpwiefanlskfansriqtrgowseirgnkdslfgadsfk..... definitely just realized I added 5 stars instead of 4
