Yes. This is why they call me "The Giver". I love to give.

Greg Gasson has one. At one of the seminars at last year's DZ.Com Holiday Boogie he showed the stuff he carries in and on his helmet and the visual TimeOut was one. I try not to reinvent the wheel and I copy stuff that successful people do. I told AvgJoe about what I had learned at the Boogie and a couple weeks later he gave me his LED which he had kept when he sold his TimeOut. So I traded GravityGirl my Pro Dytter for her older Timeout with the connection for the LED. I really like it. Now I am more like Greg. Yeah, it's a vintage product and getting harder and harder to find.

I've got that mod on both my rigs. It's the bomb. Check them out this weekend if the weather gets us up in the air. And Shannon? If you end up getting as hooked on Birdman flight as I think you're gonna, get the other birdman mods as well. Wings rocks. On second thought, here's pictures of one of mine.

I saw a lot of really cool helmet setups at Nationals. One that probably was almost half of the camera fliers there was a sidemount with a second video camera on top, where I would guess lots of these folks usually put their stills camera for shooting tandems. Two video cameras is a very good idea. I did manage to turn one of them off during a climbout, and my B camera was there to save the day. I'm also going to get a bootie camera suit. Since there are days when I wear my suit all day, I don't generally like to hassle booties, which I have on my fast and slow RW suits, and I wear on all of my release AFF jumps. My team was light and falls slower than my usual group, and booties would have been a big help. Yes, I saw some guys wearing FF suits. If they shot clean through all 10 rounds, more power to them! So here is my helmet. A Bonehead Flat Top Pro with Stroboframe QR's and two Cameye's. The third light in the ringsight is a visual Timeout. The side protection is two Bonehead Sharkfins.

4 Way advanced just got a little more interesting.

SoCal (real good to see you BTW), I was there when the camera flier was explaining for the first time to his close freinds what happened. He's an honest man who got caught up in a cascade of bad decisions. I was blessed to have jumped with a team who treated me as a fifth member. Some teams are composed of skygods with enormous reputations and status and a "hired hand" camera flier. Despite knowing what is right and what is probably wrong, under pressure people sometimes make bad choices. At that time there is a fork in the road where the bad angel erupts over the left shoulder and says "Do it! You won't get caught". When a group of skygod team members and a skygod camera flier say "Do it, hired hand!" sometimes a bad decision is made and then compounded by the getting caught. When caught lying, a really big problem is made from a relatively small one. This is a situation where a good guy got caught in a bad situation and was caught up being convinced to do something he really suspected was wrong by people he respected and trusted. He did not come up with this idea. It was pressed upon him. -AND- Yeah, (to another post in this thread) I think it's nuts to not jump two cameras at something like this. Someone I respect was down there and said they'd only go to the trouble of jumping two cameras if they were in advanced or open class. Not me. I had one of my cameras turn off on a round, and used the "B" camera to dub that round. However, think about doing 10 rounds for $20 per. That's $200 minus pack jobs. For that sum you put two PC120's ($1500 used) with two wideangles ($320) with two cameye's ($110) on a Flat Top Pro ($700). That's more than $2600 worth of video gear, just on the cabeza. A good digital still setup adds almost $3000 to that. Lots of camera fliers just can't afford to jump two cameras on a big expensive helmet, and LOTS of teams don't want to compensate their camera fliers at all. -
I have found that even my gig card is actually too big. Reason? If you want to burn it to portable media like a CD, a CD only holds about 700 megs. Ideally, for me, the card is just big enough to hold enough images to burn to one full CD. Four gigs requires a portable hard drive.

OK, but they won't hold the fact that I'm pretty against me, right? Thanks for that great answer Q. See you guys tomorrow. I'm pulling the bike out at about 0430, I should be in Perris around noon.
-
Q-dog, that's an open maneuver only, right? Not intermediate?
-
I get a lot of that from tandems. "Where are we going to hit?" I tell them that if we "hit" it won't matter. I am, however, planning to land right there across from the hangar. I agree, coverage is good.

The container colors would look much better on a Wings.

You simply haven't lived until you have been called a "biscuit head" in anger. Biscuit head is my all time favorite. That is, by the way, one of the ways that Juan Gonsalez, a sociologist, defines a minority. If the word stings, you are a minority.

It's funny how people easily gross themselves out at the prospect of growing old. It's a shame. We all get old. I'm sure that the folks in the "grossed out" corner will experience a lot of self loathing as gravity and age exert themselves. Those people can't imagine someone being attracted to their old selves, so can't imagine having sex. Too bad for them. As to me? If I'm still moving around at 100, I'll be getting my groove on.

F*ck them, Vinster. Get thoroughly in touch with your inner asshole. Crush the stupid ones and drive them before you while listening to the lamentations of their stupid comrades. Vinnie the Barbarian Git some....

Yep. Thanks. First time I met Lisa, in the flesh, was at the Perris Memorial or Labor Day boogie about three years ago. We jumped the Turbine DC-3 on a Muenkel Jump. Chromeboy and Seb and the gang were there for that first one for me. Good times and bad. Thanks for taking the time and caring so much, Biotch. See you soon.

Yeah, I do. You do too, Val, every time you don't behead a guy who holds a door for you.

So long as it matches the thong I'm supposed to wear, sure! It will be the secret weapon. I'll wear it in the plane, and nobody will be able to stop laughing long enough to get all focused for all that grippy stuff those 4 way people tend to do.

Thanks Q. I figured most of that. We had the IR remote problem at Herc, and I taped over my IR reciever because of it. See you soon.

"Unable to connect to server" Sorry Jeanne.

Because it relates to two Velocities, I figure it's a more appropriate post here. Photographed some hi-performance CRW this past weekend, two stack with Velocities. At one point the bottom canopy completely collapsed/deflated on one side. It quicky reinflated, but it was sketchy for a couple seconds. Thought I'd share. -I am definitely not a swooper. I enjoy getting the most out of my 1.6:1 Spectre, and chasing these guys was a blast. Those canopies are FAST!

I've photographed a couple Skyhook reserve deployments. On one it worked amazingly, on one it was not properly assembled and it worked as a normal RSL. When it works, it's astoundingly fast. In the attached photo, you'll see that the reserve is coming out faster than the reserve pilot chute. -That's Aviatrr demoing the tertiary rig at Eloy last year. Egon is great about letting folks demo his gear. In the hookitt-chop photo, you'll see a "regular" RSL deployment cause the Skyhook was not properly sewn in. Egon's rig again, but at last year's Byron Boogie.

Hey, JP, I'm going with both of my PC120's mounted. Can you confirm that they will only take one submission? I have two different wide angles, a .3 and a .5, but I'll crank the .3 up if it can only be used if the primary camera busts.

I'd steal the KingAir and fly it west into the sunset. As the end of the world occurred, I'd jump and met it hand-to-hand, in midair.

Hey, KatieBear! You're long hair is really pretty! The Monkey looks much better in his post-Manson hair!

Anybody know what the procedure is going to be? Are the camera fliers going to provide a tape to the judges, or are we going to be dumping via firewire? This is my first trip to Nationals. Any other helpful advice or tips from the veterans? Thanks, JP
