The lowest of the including (center C, center D, control line) attachment points is fine. That way you get them all. As I said, it was hard to tell. Your brakes look pretty shallow (but then, I guess it is slider up). As a side note, that's the position your tailgate fingertrap ought to be in. if it's not, you should move it up. Low tailgates are prone to hangup on low airspeed (static line type) deployments. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

It ought to be tons better. Daggers don't have the best low airspeed openings--that's what the Rock Dragon is for. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Sometimes we remind me of BASE jumpers. In many ways, good and bad. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I think I'd move the tape further up the lines. It's hard to tell from the photo. The tailgate (or tapegate) ought to be as far up the lines as possible. Ideally, it would be immediately below the line attachment points (obviously, this depends on where your particular breaks are set). -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

It's a noble mission regardless. But anyway, you may have noticed that I'm helping moderate this forum for the next little while, as SkyMonkeyONE is off doing real work, and so online a limited amount. If you want to give me the rundown on what you don't like here, send me a PM or email. I can't promise I'll make you happy, but I can promise I'll try to be as fair as possible. Just as an aside: I see a huge difference between having a personal opinion about various gear, and showing a bias in moderation. These are two different things that ought not be confused. Everyone has personal opinions about, well, pretty much everything. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I've seen a pull out BASE rig. Come to think of it, I've also seen a near horseshoe on a BASE jump. Still, I think I'll go with standard throw out BASE gear. But good for BASE is not necessarily the same as good for skydiving. Two different games, two different sets of equipment. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Oh, relax. Trying to keep the politics out of the forum seems pretty reasonable to me. I'm sure I'll see you around. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Yawn. This is by far the most reposted video in the BASE forum. There is extensive discussion here, including comments from the jumper. There is also a long thread with the comments from non-jumpers over near the top of the BASE forum. Perhaps I'll copy the comments from this thread and add them there. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Throwing down is definitely bad. I've seen a couple of bridle over type malfunctions (and one actual knot tied into the bridle) from throwing "down" into the relative wind. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Above, he said "sideways and slightly forward." -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Is it possible you are "swimming" with the pitch hand, after the pitch? If you give an unconscious wave of that arm after pitching, you might snag the bridle. The bridle is just so clearly under your hand, in the photo. Without some tremendous gust of wind, I can't picture it getting there without either improper routing, poor pitch direction, or something moving after the pitch. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I have received numerous inquiries for this course. I will select students and send out invitations early next week. If you want to attend, you must contact me no later than Saturday. Thanks! -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I'm assuming this isn't it, but... You know that both ends of the bridle (to hand and to PC) need to come out the top of your hand, right? It looks like you might be routing the bridle out the bottom of your hand. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

England? Oh, wait, no, it was the Mongols, wasn't it? Errrrr, was Alexander there? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Morpheus can sell you the inserts for a Javelin, sized for the container size (and even color matched). -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

If I recall correctly, the term is actually supposed to be "marquisette". I just call it small hole mesh, personally. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I believe they are jumping prototype PhoenixMatterFlyBlade5 suits. That's the wing autodeployment system. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Have you considered sewing in a small flap of slightly stiffened material behind the zipper? Perhaps only at the "snag" points? That's what they do on, for example, high end sleeping bags to avoid binding the material in the zipper. Ought to work pretty well for flesh, too. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Yeah, but it's freakin' windy. Spring is the windy season here. Fall is the best season for lots of jumping. I still can't figure out why everyone shows up for Memorial Day, but only a fraction as many are here on Labor Day, which invariably has better conditions. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Funny shit. I've been involved in a couple discussions along those lines on other forums. One on a MINI Cooper forum that I frequent, and one on a forum for an online game that I played a couple years ago. It's pretty funny getting to that point where people say "oh, yeah, well how do you know?" That's when I start posting links and saying things like "in short, I am not making this up." -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Did you call Apex Perris? I'm sure they can put you in touch. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I'm not sure I agree. By that reasoning, the federal government had no right intervening in the South to enforce civil rights, and allow blacks to vote. Would sending the 101st Airborne to Little Rock be severe tyranny as well? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I'm thinking that if there is reasonable cause to believe those things are needed, and they are done in support of the schools primary (educational) mission (presumably because it would be impossible to educate the students otherwise) you'd see a court siding with the principal. But I'd be pulling my kids out of there and moving somewhere safer, for sure. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I think it depends on the drink. I've noticed that my french gets significantly better with the addition of some red wine. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
