  6. great video !!! "George just lucky i guess!"
  7. i completely agree with you, but we still need to be very careful as we progress to smaller canopies. Those guys before 90s were dying because, they were testing and developing high performance canopies for us today. We can either progress fast and push todays canopies to their limits and discover something new for future skydivers, although we can very easily die doing that. Or we can take the "secure way" and progress little slower, but not too slow, and still discover something new eventually, with much smaller chances of dying... "George just lucky i guess!"

    Snowed in!

wooow, at first i thought "what does that submarine need wings for?" "George just lucky i guess!"
  9. the line in the middle of pilot chute is conected to the canopy, while the border of pilot chute is conected to the bag. when you deploy, pilot chute pulls the canopy (with the line inside the bridle) and the bag (with the border of p/c via bridle). But until the bag is locked, the canopy stays inside the bag. when the lines are streched - bag is unlocked, the border of the pilot chute, pulls the bag of of the canopy and at the same time as the canopy is getting out of the bag, the pilot chute colapses. and when the canopy is out of the bag (still sniveling) the pilot chute is already colapsed. 10. Well i know two skydivers dogs, one is related to skydiving = Swoop. The other is more related to the night after skydiving = Whiskey.
  11. think of being 1000 feet above the ground, not knowing in which direction the wind blows, above the forest, the nearest clear landing is just behind the power lines. and you're below 160 sq feet canopy, which is going down faster than 200 or 190, especially if it is 7 cell, low porosity reserve canopy. not even knowing where the stall point is, because it's first time you are under this canopy. if you are capable of landing 160 in these conditions then the canopy is ok for you. but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone with only 20 jumps... I heard this from a paraglider. It doesn't help if you put 5 gloves on you hand. You have to let go of your toggles and put your hands at the waist height (so they are lower than heart is) and shake them... Unless of course, you have a very small eliptical canopy. In that case you better don't let go of you toggles "George just lucky i guess!"
  24. same story for me from slovenia. i think that most of the europe was cloudy "George just lucky i guess!"
  25. I agree with 78rats. look at the horizon all the time, let the legs and the rest of the body "flail" behind your head.Feeling is like your head is the heaviest part of your body. And at the same time try to make as much drag with your legs as you can. Spread your legs as much as you can, it's hard but you have to keep them spreaded, and (this is important) don't forget to pull your feet up, so they are exposed to the wind too. Practice in the pool is good only for the orientation and the feeling when inverted. While in the pool don't just be inverted. Do some turns, cartwheels, try to make it as complicated as you can. Pool really helped me with my orientation in HD. i hope that helped a little
