    Dead is . . .

    Life is lethal
  3. I have done a few solos - including solos without a soul knowing you are there. My first solo was an A i have done a few times and I also did my first B solo (but with telephone groundcrew). yes there is something amazing about doing them, yes your confirm why you BASE, yes its so personal - but I wont do one again - I dont want to cook from the inside cause i get hung up on a heavily loaded A - i dont want to bleed to death from a compound fracture, I dont want to die from over exposure, I dont want to die from something that being with one other person could have prevented - its just a personal thing - if you want to do solos then fill ya boots - i guess its a "personal acceptance thing"........ be safe always

    A Good Year

This Saturday will be a year to the day of our first jumps, my friend and I started a journey together that we would never envisage would change our lives so much in such a short time. We look forward to many many more years in this sport and know that experiences will continue to flood our lives in a way that no other “life style” can match up to. Having both received our “numbers” this week………We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to people who have made this first year, especially to BASE621 whom managed to encourage in ourselves self-belief, self reliance, self control, own thought and many more skills without even ever being a mentor – you treated us as equals – and for that all we can say is a simple and genuine thank you! (oh and buy some beers for ya!!! ) We look forward to the future! “now there’s a dilemma” Be safe BASE813 & BASE811

  15. ........and then at least I would not have to put up with you crying and wetting yourself when you visit here and experience our more "interesting" objects!!!! Hope your trip is going well dude!!! Will be good to bag your E!!!
  16. 1)315ft A - 1 second delay. Normally so much time under canopy on this object after 1 second delay that i had even "tested" my control line lengths by taking wraps and tested flares and stalls.......... but then I had a 180! Straight onto my rear risers - (as my first 180 visually this was suddenly very intense!) I took avoiding action - once onto heading I was then ready to come into land! I spanked in and cut up my arm (thats all luckily!) Lessons learned 1) rear riser corrections eat a fuck load of altitude 2) you are never that far away of getting hurt - A's dont look that nice when flying towards them! 3) the older you get the slower you heal and the worse your scars look 2) 240ft S 2 second delay several jumps off this S had suddenly made me a little "cocky" I decided on taking a longer delay Great groundrush but...........i had a 90L off heading towards power lines and trees! I quickly adjusted my heading and had no time to pop my toggles and had my first rear riser landing lessons learned 1) dont cut down your margin of error to almost zero 2) count yourself lucky you learn on soft ground mistakes that could be damaging on concrete! 3) dont assume that cause its gone well xxxth times that the next one will! luckily I have not experienced (yet) severe bodily damage - its all a learning curve!!!! the more you do the more you realise! Be safe................. but keep having fun! Michael
  17. So true..........so nice! nice words!

    Tailgates

my question was also why bother to try and keep the band especially as there is a possible problem with hang up - but seriously littering! i guess in the UK we dont have a problem with mass band littering! the weather sucks too much! thanks for the reply!

    Tailgates

Ok so i have limited experience! and maybe will get shot in flames but............ 1) why larks head your tailgate band? 2) what are the advantages and disadvantages of this practice. 3) is it really noticable the difference of 2 loops to 3 loops of the tailgate band on delays over 1 second with the force the canopy opens? just wondering! be safe............ stay low!
  20. double standards! heheh! yep loads! i think BASE is about risk acceptance. We know and accept our risks. My auntie stood with my 2 little cousins aged 4 and 6 (or something like that - i never could tell) and asked how i would feel knowing they would attend my funneral at such a young age............. I asked if she wondered how i would feel attending their funneral after a road traffic accident when you drive at 90mph down the motorway with no control over the external factors of other drivers............. we argued some more........ the fact is i know the risks i take and i accept the risks......risk acceptance..... i truely beleive that the risks envolved in activities like driving at high speeds as most people do - they would never accept the risks if they truely knew what they were......... ignorance may be bliss............. but it does make you say stupid shit!.............. as i we are all probably guilty of until the day we die - "honest i think it will work!!"........... in this sport you do find out what and who really do matter in your life....................... be safe...........................
  21. I load mine at 0.68 and its "sportyness" meant there was no fucking way i was trying to land it into tight areas with almost no room for error until i had sorted out the control line lengths and got used to the way it flies! I am now happy I have landed it in some "Nice UK Tight spots!" Be Safe....................
  22. In what way in your opinion? I would be interested in your thoughts. I feel the onheading performance is good - and from video I believe them to pressurise quicker than some other (obviously Unvented) canopies. oh and PS) your right it is my first BASE canopy! but hell - its all a big learning curve!
  23. the only negative thought i have with my canopy is that in real tight areas its inherrent "sportyness" takes alot of flying - the dagger seems to fly quite quickly. It took some testing in getting my control lines to the optium length to help me be able to fly alot slower - but after my testing and my thoughts and some talking with J&M - they now reduce the control line length on the dagger.............. obviously after their own testing! Hope this helps Michael
  24. Why not a Dagger from Vertigo??? I fly a Dagger - and Im very happy with it!
