  1. So what IS going to save his life??
  2. His friend bought that canopy when he had about 85 jumps. He's been really good in his landings yet. So he maybe thinks that everybody can jump that thing... dunno...
  3. Are you crazy? What difference would it make to write my name in it? It's still my friend who's going to jump with a wing load of about 1.5 with 55 jumps! I don't have that much more experience (see profile) but I'm jumping the sabre 170, wing load 1.0/1.1!
  4. One of my friends (55 jumps) is going to buy his first own rig. Therefore he wants to try as many different canopies as possible before buying one. He also wants to jump the 135 sabre of his friend. We told him that it's too early for downsizing that much (he's only been jumping 210 F111 student canopies before, sabre 170 once), but his reply is: he doesn't want to buy that 135, only wants to TRY it once. BTW he's got about 80kgs and landed the sabre 170 in some cornfield when he tried to get back to the dz in strong winds. He did a very low turn into the wind that a 135 probably wouldn't forgive... How can we make him change his mind about these 'experiments' and convince him that 'once' can already be too much?

  6. I sort of get the feeling that I don't progress in my freefall manoeuvres. Everybody around me with less jumps is 'better' than me, in freefly as well as basic relative exercises and canopy control. What's wrong?! Are some people just not born to skydive? ..I'm getting depressed...

    packing

I think my deployment position is ok, so it must be my way of packing. Actually I never roll the nose but leave it hanging in front, still get slow openings. Thanx for all the advice, there's a lot to try now. *

    packing

I constantly get off heading openings everytime I packed my canopy (sabre). Once our rigger packed it and it was a nice opening. I asked several people at my dz about packing an on heading opening but they all just show me 'their' way of packing without answering my question. Now I now a lot of different ways to pack a canopy but still I'd like to know what causes an off-h. opening on a sabre - and how to prevent it.
  10. How can you do that standing on the ground? Are you standing up in front of that mirror and imagining to fly upside down? How can you relax then like you would up there?
  11. What's the problem with the center cell?
  12. I got my first Sabre (2nd hand, 300 jumps) and I'm now wondering how to pack it. People told me that Sabres occasionally open very fast. The PD manual says, they're designed for slow-medium openings... I learnd to pro pack leaving the nose hanging in front or pushing it a bit into the canopy. The manual now says something about rolling the nose sides and tucking it into its center cell. Never heard about that. And what about the steering lines? Is it better to leave them hanging or to pull the -I think- end cell around the steering & D lines to keep them tidy when covering in center cell? What are the do's and don't 's for packing a sabre???
  13. Imagine you get a line over on your main. Would you rather cutaway or cut the line with a hook knife?
  14. I can't really see how far above the ground I am which usually makes me flare too late... It's really bad when I'm going down steep (strong wind, etc.). Somebody told me that I have to look at the horizon (I'm looking at the ground), but I didn't really help so far. And there's no real coach around at the DZ where I'm jumping now.
  15. Does anybody know how to flare properly? I still don't have the right timing, never find the right moment to flare and I can't judge the distant to the ground. Any advice?
  16. I'm going to buy my first own canopy... Have done 35 of my 60 jumps on a triathalon. I'd like to get a safire but it's hard to get it second hand (in the right size). Now I've got the choice between a PD and a stiletto... I have little landing (flaring) problems so a stiletto could be a bit too early for me. But I'd maybe get bored of the PD... What do you expert people think about that?!

    start

I just started practicing freeflying. After I got sitflying sussed I'm trying to fly head down. But somehow I always end up on my back... I asked the experienced people @ my DZ for advice (bodyposition, arms/legs, etc.) but they all say "jump, try & find it out on your own"... Can anybody out there tell me something more than this...?
