  1. ring up your manufacturer + ask if its possible and how much it'd be.. then u know if it's worth it..
  2. So you all reckon digital is the way to go? Do many dropzones change to selling digital photos with the video? Wouldn't it be worth waiting a bit longer until the dig cams get cheaper and improve more (pixels, speed, size/weight, etc.)??? And what's the story of plugs that don't fit (Pentax??) and cameras that don't work with certain lenses although they fit but they interfer with the autofocus...?
  3. What kind of stills camera to buy? Most people have canon but many others say canon sucks and you're better off with nikon, minolta or pentax. But then some of these cameras require special plugs or lenses or whatever. And is it worth anyway to buy a stills camera at all or will digital cameras soon rule the world of commecial skyiding? For personal use I'd rather buy a normal stills camera.... but which one...? It has to be reliable (!!!!), and compatible with tongue switches and fisheye lenses. Any advice??
  4. Does anyone know much about the mz30? I heard you can't use any lenses other than special pentax lenses on them, is that true? Sigma makes lenses compatible for Pentax cameras but apparently these mz 30's don't work with them...
  5. If you get it repaired please let us know what was wrong with it. I have a 105 and like to know...
  6. In my opinion there's no jump no. you have to have before you're able to jump cam! It all depends on your personal skills and training. Get an experienced cam flyer / instructor at your dz to give you a good briefing, go through all possible dangers and emergency procedures (entanglement, etc.) and if people tell you you're not ready to jump with a camera then ask why not and work on that.
  7. Hi Ed. We have a few conceptus tongue switches at our DZ and sometimes they fail to work as you go up to altitude. Even when we test them on the ground we end up having no freefall pix as the switch didn't work up high. Do you know how this can happen?
  8. Where's a good place to buy a CHEAP (!!!) tongue/ bite switches? I'm also lookiong for a (seimax) 16mm fisheye for canon stills cam but can't find any dealer? I prefer to buy off the net as I'm not living in the states.
  9. yea, you twist the canopy before you lie it down, so the nose is pointing up and you fold the ears in onto the nose (rolled up tail edge). What I want to do is put the canopy on the ground nose down, fold inn the edges and THEN twist it around, roll it all up, into the bag and then turn it back, etc.
  10. I just started packing my sabre psycho and get very nice openings :) But why do you actually fold inn the 'ears' on top of the nose and bring the steering-/D-lines even closer to the nose (lineover?)??? Could I instead lie the canopy on the ground like on a pro pack, fold the corners away from the nose onto the tail and THEN turn it around to roll it up?
  11. I jump a vector 3 with a sabre 170. I'd like to get a new canopy soon and was wondering how much you can actually downsize on the same container. I wouldn't care about it looking all ugly and slacky but about the closing loop being to lose. I asked RWS about it but all they tell me is that it was made for a 170 ZP . There must be a certain minimum canopy size - or a minimum packing volume. I found a javelin sizing chart on the sunpath webpage. Does anyone know where to find such a chart about Vectors?
  12. I have got softlinks and I stow my slider, doesn't help... Had a friend with a little more experience and a heaps bigger wingloading jumping that canopy the other day.... and even he said, it's time for a reline.
  13. He was actually quite happy about that mal. He said it's good to be over it and don't have to worry about that '1st one'. -And it was quite a nice one too, no high speed, not even spinning around or anything. :) No, it was his shout of course! I bought us two a beer after work.... and I had to entangle the cut away all messed up main.
  14. Packed my first mal for our cameraman. It was his first mal, jump #325. Here's what happened: it was a good packjob - but I left the bag on top of container to get a pull up before s folding the lines and placing the bag in the container. While I was away the bag fell off, through some of the front riser lines but when I came back, it looked all clear. The pilot chute was still at the 'clear' side of the lines, but I thought it must've fallen through the lines so I pulled it back. - Wrong end, the pilot chute was actually clear and I should've pulled the bag back through the lines. (Does that make sense?) Anyway for pix check out: http://www.geocities.com/nzskies03/mal.html So what do we learn from that: never lose control of your packjob!
  15. What sort of equipment do you guys use for editing your videos? What do editors use at busy tandem dropzones where the camera guys just leave their tapes when having back-to-back vids? Is there any such thing as a mixer with a tape slot (so that you don't need a spare camera on the ground) , internal or external audio source AND that can be plugged into a VCR and DVD writer?

Hi. I'm looking for a .42 wide angle and a fisheye as well as a UV filter for a PC 105 but our local dealers can't get these. Can anyone give me a web address of a good dealer for camera accessoirs?
  17. Yea, but my DZSO is not really my problem. I jumped in conditions that I (and everybody else, incl. DZSO) thought are very suitable for jumping for the tandems, the more experienced guys...AND me! But being a little scary bitch it is rather my canopy that causes these problems.
  18. I was struggling to make it back to the PLA so I was looking down when I suddenly felt... strange... just not stable... like falling down to the side. I looked up and what I saw was not square, totally out of its normal shape. I started to pull on the rear risers (dunno why, just instinct I guess) and made sure I wasn't flying over any concrete or near buildings that might have caused these turbulence. That's what the tandem master said who was on the same load. I told him about my 'experience' after we landed and he said that he felt the gust under his tandem chute at the same altitude (was nowhere near collapsing though). The conditions were alright, otherwise the DZSO wouldn't let me jump - nor the tandems. What are air locks..?
  19. I jump a sabre 170, loaded at 1.1., lines got about 600 jumps (but new steering lines). As soon as I jump in a little windy conditions my canopy bumps all around and feels very unstable and too easily affected by light gusts -that are no problems for anyone else at the dz who jumps at a higher wing loading. So is this maybe a good time to downsize..? - Or is it just a matter of a reline?? Do the flying characteristics actually change so much that they affect the stability of a canopy?? I almost had her collapsing the other day (at 1500, scary!!!) because of a side gust. What's the best way to fly such a 'weak' canopy safely?
  20. sounds good, how much do you want for it?
  21. Anyone any advice how??? What material to use, etc.???
  22. Hi. Does anybody know the improvements of the PC 105 compared to the 'old' 101? In most places you get the 105 even cheaper than the 101, why????
  23. alright, avoiding the flaps is not a question...
  24. Has anybody out there done it? is it hard to get from the door to the front edge? Where do you hold on to? Is it likely to end up in the tail plane? How has the pilot to fly the plane while we're out there? Are their any dangers that I might not be thinking of?
