yea he sent it to mirage today

I just got a call from my rigger that my reserve risers have some damage do to velcro pricking from the reserve toggle stow. is it due perhaps from the last rigger not stowing the toggles correctly? It's a G3 mirage. I assume it's going to be costly to fix.

I learned from old school skydivers, doing it yourself is no new thing to me. As a mechanic, i like to see how things work. The cypres needed a 8 year and had to be sent out. I am grounded for about a month so will not be jumping it. I am going to Ohio in two weeks and hope to pick the unit up but it had to get in the mail yesterday. I did not want my rig left at the loft waiting. It is much safer sitting in my home in the ac in the dark. I had removed one in my last rig but had forgot about removing the cutter. Bill Von posted a few years back about taking not being afraid of your reserve. opening it up and having a look. Even repacking it and asking the rigger if it would work. I have a "clean room" Might do it. Would you have trouble withthat as well? A few at my dz gave me a hard time when i hooked up my own reserve. In fact they ran to the Sta and the dzo to "tell" . I had all ready spoke to my rigger and he check the lines when i was done. I tipped him well and we all were happy. I want to know all I can about gear. Isn't this better than a lot of peoples attitude about the gear they jump /rant off btw i am not mad just trying to wake up some sheep _________________________________________________

For me it's more about wear to the reserve than the money. the only one i heard of was a battery that was removed and tossed on the table. Have we seen a increase in german deaths since they went to yearly repacks? I have heard this said but have not seen it proven. but then again your jump season is how long up there? We jump year round in florida.

if i know what I want why should i pay for more than I need. Seem like a bad move in a market that is getting crowded and the number of consumers is shrinking.

base jumping isn't skydiving. depends on how low the jump was. angle falls, a year.

I've seen ppl who can not hook up their main or reserve or pack a main. It's about personal responsibility and education. All you need to do is look at the places with longer repack cycles and do not see a higher malfunction rate with reserves. After it leaves a rigger it is up to the skydiver to treat his/her rig like a life saving device not a toy.

unlike the plan in or lack of it in Nagin'villle. Here in Florida my job is transfered to civil defence. I make sure the generators at the schools and shelters work and are filled with fuel. Making sure everyone is safe as possible. I don't mind. Someone has to do it. Even when it means i have to be the first up with shutters. It sucks putting them up in high winds and rain
