  1. Not really to say to others, but repeated in my head..often this last week. Supervisor is out for 2 weeks and a coworker is leaving 2hrs early, this just after another coworker quit/fired...me and another diligent coworker stay beyond 8hrs (salary, no overtime) to make up for it. "If any of you sons of bitches, got anything else to say, now's the fucking time!" (Kill Bil V1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prDCDmchtTg
  2. Let's learn from others, shall we: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7c4r3N5KqU
  3. You do realize that unsuspecting people will buy your used merchandise since Wal Mart won't damage it out? At least tell the returns clerk that it was defective/damaged when purchased so the general public won't have to buy even crappier quality products.
  4. I have to follow this up - she is on her trip and sent me a private FB message after she blocked her coworkers from seeing her wall. She will be calling in sick till she gets fired and she says she's not even counting on unemployment. What a weekend! The only thing is she hasn't told anyone she isn't coming back, not even our supervisor - I'm the only one. So it looks like things are kind of working out...I guess.
  5. There was the Big Bang - that's pretty far off the spectrum from 'nothing' as it can get. That formed our planetary ball and initiated lively events to occur. Faith is believing in something whether or not you have proof or can deny outlasting 'evidence.'
  6. It hit the fan last week when her vacation was denied and we have been giving her the cold shoulder, not engaging in discussions with her, and basically ignoring her existence. We always let her know (remind, as if she wasn't aware) when things are getting worked on or others need a break, but she may or may not find the time to do it. I think she may have written some random crap on the whiteboard after I left yesterday/Friday (I had to go to work today/Saturday, again salary unpaid, but it was needed to DO MY JOB) and this may get HR involved. Not a big F U message, but changing product names into doing things to a certain manager and highlighting "ASS" of assayed in red. HOPING this gets her ball rolling...out the freaking door!! I have to say, thanks for letting me vent guys.
  7. Yeah, I thought she could be lying...even if its only to delude myself for momentary neutrality. "Co(non)workers" That is perfect! And what is a blanket party? Or dare I ask... ---Nevermind - Urban dictionary edumacated me. She'd sue us and live the life she always wanted again at our expense. Damn, too bad we don't have customers that could complain about her....
  8. Want to get rid of her since she was unwilling to put in her fair share BEFORE the "big corporation" took over our company in 2007. Conflict philosophy at this site is non-confrontational and my supervisor (slacker's prior peer before she was promoted over slacker 2 years ago) is a sweetheart and gets beet red while telling people to not spend so much time on their PCs surfing the net or leaving early (we're salary). Although my sup works 10+hrs a day and is on edge now because of recent attitude shifts - slacker's 3 week vacation request denied due to lack of earned time off. (after a 1wk vaca last month) Just wish they'd cut their losses, she's really only half an employee as it is and we barely notice when she is or isn't there....pissed off when she's there and not doing anything AND makes $3K more than me (she was applying for a credit card over the phone in our office ). We each have individual projects that take her 2-3X longer than the rest of us and her raise, or lack thereof, reflects this...but my sup will just ask her how's it going (ie "I gave that to you last week, when will it be done?!") and keeps trying to give her work that she keeps putting off or 'works' on it while we are all doing group work AND our individual work. She prides herself on not working for a chain or "big-box", but the retailer I spent 7 years at would have fired her in 1 day due to her lack of compliance and holier than thou attitude.
  9. That's pretty much her philosophy, screwing us, her coworkers, in the process. "Gee, I know we're super busy, but I need to take my lunch RIGHT NOW and stare at my computer for 30min...then I might come back and help before you guys get to eat kthxbai" GAH, wish they would fire her already!
  10. Yup, I work with a slacker who basically refuses to help out with our group work, complains about the work we do and low raises. Her reasoning-"they denied me 3 weeks vacation in May (without earning time off-she used it last month for 1.5wk vacation) and they refuse to give me a better raise or a promotion all the while our company made XX profits." So hard not to punch her in the face everyday, but she makes the rest of us look good. Everyone thinks she's trying to get fired so she'll have unemployment.
  11. Is this the first raise with your present company and you're used to bigger raises or just expected something bigger this year? Average for my company was 2.5% - in my department the slackers got 1-2% and the worker bees got 3-3.5%. I'll take it with this economy and just the fact I have a job that doesn't suck and can pay my bills, save, and skydive
  12. I would have to say chocolate chip cookies, but if I'm not in a chocolate mood, then Nilla wafers.
  13. Not used at my DZ and I knew that before going there. Knowing this I made damn sure I understood where my markers were, what could possibly be anticipated (mals, traffic, landing pattern, flaring, etc) and didn't have any problems. Like others stated, it could help those in real trouble or it could mess them up ala saying "cutaway" to your student while watching someone else. Having done it without a radio I tend to lean towards personal responsibility than having a mission control. Just my thoughts...
  14. Love the Canon Powershot, took the following pic from my SD450, 5 MP (yeah cell phones have bigger MP now) in 2006, digital macro of a ladybug. And a shot of the Bellagio lobby in 2007. Pretty hardy, fast enough for my needs and small for when I don't feel like lugging around the SLR
  15. He looks so excited, how cute!
  16. Photo #1 - My younger niece, 10 days old. Pretty sure she was yawning, I love it! Photo #2 - Our wedding photo
  17. Or they might even avoid the meds in case anyone found out, putting themselves and those around them in a precarious situation. Similar to life insurance forms - "you contacted a physician about depression and getting help through meds/counseling, this means that you are obviously denied. Had you not sought treatment and exposed your problems, you'd be good to go."
  18. My sentiments exactly, everything I wanted to say in the other forum.
  19. Warm chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven with ice-cold milk
  20. I am not naive nor ignorant of anything you mentioned. I knew about all of that prior to going to Lodi to do my AFF. Yes, I do know how to use a search function on a website. A radio may have helped that student land, or a brain - sorry, but that landing pattern wasn't that hard for me w/o a radio and she shouldn't have been there (landing near the main landing area) as a student. That dz post drew up a LOT of responses as to whether radios even work half the time IIRC. As for the stiletto purchase, that was a bad call - so that's why I am a little more protective/conservative than others around me. I do understand about the wl difference for lighter jumpers, PD has some great info on their site. This is why I stated that I do not know how it's going to go. I plan to spend more time with my current size and then, when I feel ready and willing, think about downsizing. I hear what others say, but again I am not letting anyone push me farther than I feel I should be going. Not that it makes a difference in light of the male brain, but I really don't get that type of attention due to my 'attractiveness' since not many would consider me that. I'm usually at the dz w/ my husband, that kinda stops random guys performing the 'cute girl DZ mating dance.' I do appreciate the concern, honestly.
  21. I stated my size because if I was a heavier person, I wouldn't have to justify a downsize as much since the canopy would be larger than sub-150. According to Germain's chart I would be about 20 jumps low, IF I went w/ a 135 IF I get the container by then. Who the hell knows how I'll feel about a 135 then, maybe I'll stay with a 150 - try out the differences. Regardless of what others might want me to do, if I don't feel right then I won't. I'm not looking to have a greater than 1:1 wingloading, buy a stiletto, start jumping camera/wingsuit, or try out some of those hook turns.
  22. Thanks, that seems to be a very consistent reply. I think I'm going to take a week or so figure it out before placing the order.
  23. And we have a taker...I had a feeling someone just had to say something. As I've stated before, my instructors want me to progress faster (I'm not willing to go that fast) and I should be near 70 jumps when this container is completed (yeah, yeah, yeah I know whoopdee-doo). Sorry for having a petite body. I wanted opinions about my future container, not the canopies - I have humans to ask, ones that don't agree in extremely fast progression in downsizing (yes, even at Lodi) and I do not want to go off topic. Thank you.
  24. Thanks. Yes, no more renting means saying goodbye to a longer than desired harness, wide yoke, and nearly $200/mo just in rental fees. Woo-freaking-hoo!
