I have always had an interest in seeing who of us in the "Real World" take life by the balls and go have some fun every now and again. I have met people from all walks of life who do amazing things i.e. race cars, skydive, breathe fire ect... You can never judge a book by it's cover... what's your cover? Is it benefitial to have the same instructor through AFF?
Tiger6513 replied to Tiger6513's topic in The Bonfire
Peregrinerose- Thats very interesting that your DZ actively mix matches students and Instuctors, it seems like that happens at our DZ also if maybe not on purpose. (btw my girlfriend hasn't had the same instructor more than twice yet through level 5) Simply making the point for comparison and discussion. you make another great point ... We will always be out to save our own asses Travis Roy Foundation. At very least its a tax write off -

Tiger6513 replied to Tiger6513's topic in The Bonfire
I agree with that completely, personally I am able to get along with and learn from any personality type so for me having little consistancy hasn't been an issue. My girlfriend really wants to stay with familiar instructors for her it builds confidence to have the same instructor for several jumps. I think you can also benefit from several intructors by having the same information presented in many different ways. just a matter of how you feel comfortable learning. Travis Roy Foundation. Tiger6513 replied to Tiger6513's topic in The Bonfire
Every AFF instructor is different. Some people tend to belive it is better to stay with 1 rather than have many different. I personally don't care but my girl much preffers to know and build trust with her instructor to help with Her own confidence. Travis Roy Foundation. At very least its a tax write off -

Just wondering what everybody thinks, I am neither for nor opposed actually but I am sure there are some good view points on both sides out there! Travis Roy Foundation. At very least its a tax write off -
I hope we won't have to run elsewhere for 6 and 7 but (my girl and I) we started in West Point VA so we may have to if we get weathered out and Delmarva closes up in December. I am hoping (fingers crossed) that we should easily be able to get 2 more in (i.e. finish AFF) before the skydiving "freeze" out. Really would like to jump this winter... Live in Baltimore so maybe Carolinas somewhere??? Travis Roy Foundation. At very least its a tax write off

Just wanted to get a few opinions here, I got 1 jump in yesterday (level 5) and now waiting for 6 and 7. Started in very late in July. Weather this year has been uncommonly poor in Delaware where we jump(wind and clouds mostly). How many of you guys/gals have had a similar experience? Travis Roy Foundation. Honestly who cares, I am a very low jumper almost through AFF and a huge advocate for the sport. My experiences (in 6 jumps) give me loads to talk about to anyone who will listen. If Hillary did a tandem or aff or static who cares, she is hugely popular and that will hopefully be great publicity for the sport. When you or I (normal folks) may be able to get a handful of people interested in the sport in our lives, she just let millions hear the great experience she had in one conversation. IMO anyway Travis Roy Foundation. At very least its a tax write off

Nashville TV News story on Skyride
Tiger6513 replied to BillyVance's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Brett makes a good point although a bit harsh, but customers really have no clue about skydiving. They just get the idea in their head that it would be fun or exciting to jump and have no idea how much is at risk. Skydiving is incredibly weather dependant and when people see clear skies they would assume its fine to jump and get pissed when a DZ grounds them for wind, or clouds or plane issues. People these days don't think, this is an instant gratification society. Travis Roy Foundation. At very least its a tax write off
